About the property

One Bedroom/ One Bathroom Guest Casita With Ocean Window & Jungle View

Unique, guest casita with an "ocean window view" located on a private 4.2 acre estate. Situated at the end of a private road. Once on the property you are immersed in the sights and sounds of nature. This modern, guest house along with the Main House just above, was designed by Los Angeles architect, James Meraz. The structure is light and airy, offering breathtaking views of the jungle covered mountains to the north as well as an ocean window that looks to the Pacific. The outdoor covered balcony serves as the perfect place for morning yoga, alfresco dining, or just an all around 'chill' space. The only sounds being that of birds and insects. The casita is made up of an open concept living space that includes a brand new , fully equipped kitchen, a separate bedroom, and a bathroom that features a super cool, outdoor rainshower area. There is even a new Infinity edge Plunge Pool that guests can enjoy! What are you waiting for?

About Dawn Enders

We purchased the property in 2010 with the intention of building a vacation home for our family. Today, we welcome guests at Malachite Retreat, a private getaway that offers a peaceful respite from the daily grind. If you are a larger group, we also offer Morpho Eco Retreat, a 2 bedroom/ 2 bathroom main house located within the same 4.2 acre estate.

Dawn Enders purchased this cabin in 2012

Why Dawn Enders chose Uvita

Peace and tranquility while only being a 5 minute drive from the laid back town of Uvita. Conveniently located to many amenities.

What makes this cabin unique

We love the town and people of Uvita. The gorgeous, jungle covered mountains that flow down to the sea reminded us of the Ligurian Riviera in Italy as well as a lusher version of Malibu, California. World class surfing, tons of activities, restaurants, etc.... Pura Vida

Guestbook comments from the owner

Lea and her husband were perfect guests! Every email exchange to set up their vacation was a breeze. The home was left in immaculate condition when they finished their stay. We would love to have them back every year in this paradise we call Costa Rica!

Wonderful adventure!

What an amazing property! My family had the best time ever in Costa Rica and this was our base camp for our trip. Only minutes from Uvita, yet we felt like we were all alone in the jungle! Howler monkeys, fireflies, toucans, other colorful birds, bats, big beautiful butterflies all out the front door. The private water fall was the icing on the cake. Pura Vida!

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for your kind words, describing your family vacation at the casita! When I was down last myself, I had the opportunity to stay for an extended period in the casita with my 13 year-old son, and it was great! The various things you mention were all part of our purchasing this particular property for our home away. The proximity to Uvita and all it has to offer, while feeling that you are alone in the jungle when you get home. The peace and serenity coupled with the abundance jungle life offers in terms of nature: the colors and scents of the jungle, the numerous animals that live in your backyard, the trips to swim at the waterfall, the walks up & down the mountain, the views... the list goes on and on. We love sharing the experience with like minded guests! Thank you again... Pura Vida Dawn

My husband and i booked the casita in January 2017 for 10 days and it was pure PARADISE! The location is perfect, not too far from all the services , but away from all the sound. You feel like you have the jungle to yourself. Everything is clean and comfortable. The water pressure is so great and the water was always hot for a shower at the end of the day. The pool is just AMAZING! Refreshing and the view on the ocean is just crazy , especially for sunsets. There is also a private waterfall , so pretty and so much fun to swim there everyday. We even spent a few days staying at the house , because we had so much fun at the pool and the waterfall. I highly recommend this place to everyone. The owner and the caretakers were also super helpful and kind. I want to go back every year :)

Perfect location for our Eco research trip

  • 5 of 5

This was an absolutely ideal location for our eco research trip. We stayed for almost two weeks.

We are professors exploring biomimicry, in the central pacific coast. We used the Morpho Eco retreat as a homebase.

It was such a lovely place to come to after long days of expeditions and exploring the lush local ecology and biomimicry of Uvita, and the central pacific coast. A perfect location and great proximity to Hacienda Baru, Rancho Merced, and Manuel Antonio. All wonderful places to observe and engage in nature.

The accommodations are generous, modern, clean. And we loved the large kitchen, and incredible deck, with it's amazing views of the whale tail, excellent for us to unwind and have great dialogue late into the night on natures beauty and intelligence (the evening skies form the deck are spectacular). An added bonus was the waterfall and swimming hole on the property, so rejuvenating. The owners, and mgmt really looked out for us too, since this was our maiden voyage, they offered up great suggestions of places to eat, and sites to explore. We will definitely be coming back! Pura Vida!
