Darling One Bedroom, Kitchen, Jetted Tub At Foot Of Sun Mountain, Sunset Views
Nestled among two acres of pinons at the foot of the sacred Sun Mountain, your casita beckons. Sunsets and sunrises greet you daily, with Sun mountain to your back only being about a 30 minute hike to the top. There you'll understand why people move to Santa Fe. A mile away is Museum Hill. A few blocks further are the art galleries, restaurants, and the Georgia O'Keefe Museum. Georgia spent her last years only a couple blocks from Sun Mountain Casita. After a day here, you'll understand why. It is the perfect quiet place to watch the skies change over the city and mountains after a day in the land of enchantment. Step into your jetted tub, grill some salmon, and enjoy a glass of wine while the Santa Fe light lingers on your private patio. Enjoy the bird feeders, flowers and the sounds of coyotes as the lights twinkle before you. The perfect retreat, Sun Mountain Casita will cast her gentle spell on you, beckoning you to return.

About Nancy or George Roberts
George grew up a missionary kid in Zimbabwe, and met Nancy in California. After raising two boys, they set out to find their perfect paradise, Santa Fe, although they call the world their home. Avid travelers, they have been to 75 countries. They are devotees of Argentine Tango, and love dogs of all kinds.
Nancy or George Roberts purchased this Cottage in 2001
Why Nancy or George Roberts chose Santa Fe
The property is unusual as it is so close to downtown, yet on two view acres. Most people say it is the best view they've seen in Santa Fe, and Sun Mountain is literally at your back door. Close to everything yet in a peaceful paradise, we felt completely blessed to be able to purchase this property, and now share it with you. The house was built in 1930, and the floors are old 18 in wide plank pine...a rarity now. Harold Littlefield built the place and we've done our best to restore it, and not change it much. We call it rustic elegance.
What makes this Cottage unique
Well, to us and our friends, this property has soul, as soon as you turn in the long driveway, shaded by pinons. The views will take your breath away, as Santa Fe skies change each hour. You can watch summer storms come in and go out all across the valley, from Albuquerque to some say, Colorado. The living room floor has 18 inch wide boards from the 1930's and vigas across the living room ceiling. The Jotul fireplace heats the whole casita. Charm oozes from each room, with lovely original art, to the mosaic bathroom. Bird feeders are all around, and the curved walls of the patio drip with purple wisteria in the summer, framing other flowers. You won't want to leave!

Beautiful, private location that accommodated us and our dog perfectly!
The Casita is up a private driveway, which our dog loved because she got to run around while we were outside watching her, and we didn't have to worry about other cars. The house sits on a beautiful trail to the top of Sun Mountain, which we hiked one day and didn't even need to drive. The house was nicely decorated and a great size for a family of three. The back courtyard area was fenced in with pretty views of the surrounding mountains. The drive to the Plaza and Canyon Road was less than ten minutes. Overall, we had a great stay!
Quaint, beautiful, exactly what we needed!
Clean, orderly, compact, comfortable and in a peaceful position near downtown. We thoroughly enjoyed our brief stay and would highly recommend the casita!
Thank you so much for your kind words! We hope you will visit us again soon!

Perfect spot for a couple's short getaway
Overall I would recommend this location for a short getaway. I would definitely stay here again. We arrived on a Friday night and stayed until Tuesday morning.
Some of the highlights of the casita:
AWESOME location: short drive into downtown SF while still feeling very removed and remote.
The view is outstanding. Loved the patio off the back of the house looking down into town. GREAT sunset views. Be aware, if you stay here during the summer, the patio may be too hot to sit out for too long. But during the fall, it made for the ideal spot for a cup of morning coffee and some quiet time.
Bedroom and overall space was totally adequate for either a single person staying here for an extended stay or for a couple for a quick getaway.
We never had an issue while staying here so never needed the owners but in all my communication with them leading up to the stay, they were quick to respond.
Another bonus: the shower. I am a stickler for solid water pressure and temperature. This place had it!
Love the gas stove for heating.
Easy to get to.
The areas that could be a sticking point for some:
the seating options in the living space are limited. There is basically one small loveseat--not a big deal if you are traveling alone or simply using the space as a resting spot for all your day-time adventures. But if as a couple you are looking for a home to lounge in on a rainy day, this may be a little uncomfortable.
Kitchen--totally adequate for breakfast and lunch. We even made dinner one night. But be advised, the counter for prep space is higher than the standard height, making chopping difficult (doable but don't expect to be chopping up a storm).
And the tiny sink was the biggest challenge. With no dishwasher and the sink not being big enough for even a dinner size plate, it made cleanup challenging. Again, doable if you are preparing simple meals but be advised before using the 9x12 baking dish or larger pans.
Overall I'd recommend this spot!
Thank you for such a complete review! We have since changed the couch to a full size...and we have added 4 more feet of counter space....we really appreciate all your kind words...we do our best to respond to every issue....We hope you will return again soon!

Did not meet expectations.
The hosts, Nancy and George were very nice and quick to respond to requests for help. The absolute best asset of the rental was the evening view from the patio of sunsets and the city of Santa Fe. The bed, bedding and towels were first rate.
Unfortunately, the unit itself had problems. There was an overall need for repairs. Cleanliness was substandard. The only TV was in the bedroom, furnished with one easy chair and a rickety kitchen chair. The living room was hardly used because lighting was too poor to read.
Finally, the kitchen was so small and poorly arranged the only real use was for a bagel or cereal breakfast and possibly a sandwich lunch. Even though there was a nice selection of kitchen utensils there was not enough room to actually cook and the 10” X 12” sink, with no counter space, made dishwashing a joke.
Quiet and peaceful!
The casita was was great and the view was spectacular. It was quiet and peaceful but yet close enough to downtown that it was easy to go to restaurants and other attractions there. We really liked it!
Thank you so much for your review. We are glad you enjoyed your time in the casita and hope you return soon.
