Quiet country setting.

  • 4 of 5

Very nice house in a quiet country setting. We were here for a 5 generation Thanksgiving reunion and very much enjoyed our stay here. The owners are very nice and were great when we had a problem with our arrival time. Unfortunately, the weather was too cold to enjoy the beautiful yard and grill. We did see deer and a lot of wild turkeys in the area. We usually stay with family in the area, but if the occasion ever arises that we need a place to stay, we would certainly try to stay here again.

Felt like home!

  • 5 of 5

Clean, warm and inviting! From the moment our family pulled in the driveway it felt like we had all come home. The backyard was fantastic for our dogs and the inside of the house was perfect for morning play time with our daughter and niece. Big thank you to John and Paula for creating such an amazing environment for our family trip! Will be renting from them again!

The property was as described and was a nice retreat from a long day on the river. The owners added a few nice personal touches and you can tell they are fine people to do business with.

Great place for family

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely stay at John and Paula's home. We were attending a wedding at Earthtrek Expeditions, and it was a quick 10-minute drive from the event site. Plenty of space for our kids to relax and play, especially outside where there is a nice, fenced-in backyard. They provided a new pak n play for our baby daughter, too. Everything was clean and cozy. We had no trouble accessing wifi for our PC, but our cell phones got no service at the house or anywhere in Lotus. (We have AT&T, which John will warn you is quite spotty.)

Sierra Rizing was a cute little bakery in Lotus, serving breakfast and lunch. There is also a park with a playground pretty close by, about a 5-minute drive.

I highly recommend this house as a home-away-from-home!

Quaint Coloma getaway

  • 4 of 5

really appreciated working with John for our Coloma getaway trip. We had a great day on the river in the area with awesome whitewater and then make a big spaghetti feast and unwound at John's. There are many fun things to do there. The house is fully serviceable and and fits the low-key feel seen in the pictures. I imagine would be great to have campfires and s'mores in the big open backyard, but we hadn't brought supplies. (John offered us firewood though!)

Wonderful Home

  • 5 of 5

My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our week stay at this home. We found everything that we needed to accommodate our 4 adults and 6 Children. (Two of which were babies. A newer playpen was provided.) The kitchen had all of the necessities to prepare meals, including a holiday feast. Even in December, we enjoyed the use of the outdoor BBQ and board games on the deck. Being able to do laundry was great, especially with our large crew. Although it is a bit if a drive to the home, and WiFi isn't available, that is just what our family needed! With the many board games and movies provided, we were well entertained. (Our Verizon service worked perfectly, however our daughter's carrier did not. There is a landline if needed.) During our winter stay, a few things that we enjoyed were bowling in Folsom, a trip to the Bass Pro Shop, and Denio's Farmer's Market and Auction/Flea Market in Roseville. We couldn't have found a better home and location for our family vacation! The owners were so easy to communicate with, and quick to respond with answers to questions. We hope to visit again in the future!

Owner's Response: Happy New year! Thank you for your review. We have tried to make the home, "homey" and comfortable for all. Glad you had a great time. We are still looking into internet for the home, and hope to add that to the amenities as well. Please come back and see us again.. Rafting season is a great experience as well. Well wishes for a Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year.

There are local wineries in the Coloma Valley. Apple Hill opens the end of August and there are crafters, food vendors, as well as lots of Apple Farms. Placerville is a fun town to shop and eat. Placerville Hardware store is a must see. One of the oldest Hardware stores around.

Also, Gold Bug Mine in Placerville is another Historic site.
