This property is the guest house to the main house. It is a wonderful romantic getaway or wonderful for a small family. The Owl's Nest is well located close to Helen, Clarksville, Cleveland, and Dahlonega. You are just a short drive away from everything in this area.
This cottage is newly renovated from top to bottom. Although this property is not on the river, the main house is and we share. River access is located in front of the main house about 100 yards away. Winding earth steps lead down the mountain to 300 private feet of the Chattahoochee River. Be advised, a certain amount of physical fitness is required to go up and down the earth steps. (Not recommended for the very young or the very old). We are 67 years old and go up and down them regularly; however, we are in good shape! There are 100 earth steps. Should you be energetic enough to make the journey, there are 4 Adirondack chairs waiting on you at the river’s edge. You can rest and enjoy this stunning part of the river before the journey back up! 😂😂😂 This part of the river is rich with shoals.
There is no view of the river from the cottage in the summer months because of the rich canopy; however, in the fall and winter you can see dappled views from the fire pit area and deck. You can always hear the water running over the shoals year round. WE DO NOT CHARGE EXTRA FOR RIVER ACCESS. We share. 😎
The cottage has all the basics. Our children made sure it would have everything they needed when they visited, so it does have all essentials plus some: television, Direct TV, landline telephone, DVD player, movies, games and Wifi. There is also a dishwasher, microwave, coffee maker, blender, crock pot, toaster and a washer/dryer(he). The kitchen contains cookware and utensils, and even some extras. Salt and pepper, coffee filters for a drip pot and a Keurig and all dishes, glasses and cookware are provided. One roll of paper towel to get you started, dish detergent, dishwasher detergent, dish towels, trash bags, tissue, hand soap, bath soap, towels and sheets are all there. All you need to do is walk in, unpack, put up your groceries and enjoy!
The master bedroom has a queen size bed, and so does the upstairs bedroom.
The house features a covered deck with a charcoal grill in the fire pit area with Adirondack seating and picnic table.
There is ample parking space, so you may want to bring your kayaks or trailer. Wildwood Outfitters, 5 minutes away, also rents kayaks and has tours. We suggest putting in at Wildwood and taking out at Mossy Creek. Wildwood is set up to help you do this.
There are wineries, antiques, gold and gem mines, mountain restaurants, pony rides, zip lines, cabbage patch babies, kayaking, tubing, go carts, water falls, rivers... There is always something to do.

Presently firewood is provided for your convenience; however, we ask for a reasonable donation based on the amount you use. If no donation is left but firewood is used, we may deduct a reasonable amount from your deposit. Firewood is expensive up here, too!
