About Kitty Hall-Thurnheer
I love to be pampered so it gives me great joy to create beautiful, comfortable spaces with little surprises of wonderment. Prior to owning a guest house, I was a software guru, a jet pilot, and a journalist. Now I focus on keeping a balance between work and play. If there is anything you need or want, please let me know so I can make your stay as enjoyable as possible.

Why Kitty Hall-Thurnheer chose West Elmira
The Castle was built in 1927 with superior craftsmanship including lots of natural wood and solid wood doors with heavy iron hinges. The house is furnished with antiques and the best and most comfortable beds. You may never want to leave.
What makes this House unique
It's a castle! In case you're attending an event at the Elmira Country Club, the Castle is backed up to it, so you can simply walk home.

The castle provides you with quite an experience!
This was not a stay; this was an experience. We had a fantastic time in the very unique house/castle. Kitty thought of every little detail and was very personalized in her welcoming of our group of six. She had pamphlets and a binder with all sorts of suggestions for what to do in the area. (We went to Corning Museum of Glass for the day.) Within the castle, she provided the scavenger hunt (so clever!) and there were some games as well. You can choose your level of silliness/adventure with not just the trunk of accessories, but closets of attire/costumes too! Absolutely no hesitation recommending a stay here! Thank you!
My husband and I just spent 4 nights at The Castle. We loved it! It was super comfortable. Kitty has thought of everything to make the stay enjoyable. My 6 year old niece LOVED the dress up clothes and the treasure hunt was also a big hit. We definitely plan to stay there again when we are in town.
My daughters and I had a magical time.
The castle had everything we need and more for our fall getaway. Highly recommend.
/An oasis in the desert
The Castle on Glen is by far the very best holiday I have every had. Not only is it unique in quality and furnishings, the hospitality of the owner far exceeds the norm. All the extra touches were awesome . The enchantment of staying at the castle will be a life time memory for my senses. I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone whether they be a newly wed or a full family. There is something for all ages to enjoy .
We had a lovely stay at Castle on Glen this past weekend. The house was clean, comfortable, and full of character. The treasure hunt was clever and a great way to introduce us to our castle for the weekend. We definitely would love to visit again. Thank you Kitty and John!!
Amazingly well appointed and filled with fairytale charm!
The property is in a neighborhood but feels isolated on a hill. The beautiful dark wood interiors are immaculately clean and the kitchen is one of the best stocked I've ever seen. The hostess literally seems to think of everything! There is even a scavenger hunt to help get acquainted with the castle! I can not wait to go back for another stay!
The Castle on Glen is located on a quiet residential street. There is so much to do in the surrounding areas. The wineries are only 45 minutes away and now include breweries and distilleries. Grappa anyone? If you enjoy antiques, you must visit Antique Revival. Restaurants: Charlies Cafe is only about two miles away and serves a great atmosphere and simple American food for lunch and dinner; closed Mondays. Taninos is worth the 15-20 min drive for brick-oven pizza and great Italian cuisine. Aviation your thing? Be sure to take a drive up to Harris Hill to watch and maybe take a ride in a glider. This is Mark Twain country and Elmira College has his writing studio which is available for tours. There are brochures and directions in the house.
