The Whaler Resort has two 12-story condominium towers and is located on Kaanapali Beach! Kaanapali Beach is consistently rated the best Beach in Hawaii! Fantastic location!

This ground floor unit has been completely remodeled with a walk in shower and beautifully furnished. The tropical landscaped gardens and lawns bring Maui into your condo. There is a king bed (new 2013) in the master bedroom with new bedding, a custom murphy queen bed in the living room (real mattress). New window coverings, new patio furniture and granite. NO PETS allowed of any kind or you will be evicted!

The complex is located next to Whalers Village ( We are in Tower 1 which is not the tower next to the Village) which is an upscale shopping village with over 50 stores, bars and restaurants. . A short stroll down the beach walk and you can enjoy the shops and restaurants of the Hyatt, Sheraton, Marriott, or the Westin Hotels.

Right across the street are the two Kaanapali Championship Golf Courses. About Cindy

I was a flight attendant for Northwest Airlines 22 years and traveled all over the world. Maui is still my favorite vacation spot and winter home because it is clean, safe, and in the United States. Most people will not go back to Mexico and other 3rd world vacation spots after Hawaii!! The weather is 80-87 degrees ALL year and the water is clean and WARM! (75-83 degrees) You will feel the ALOHA spirit!!

Why Cindy chose West Maui

The location of the Whaler is only 2 miles from Lahaina town. There are so many restaurants if you do not want to leave the resort area. I love the flowers, birds, ocean, blue sky and the tropical feeling of being on this wonderful island in paradise. This is a very romantic destination for a wedding or honeymoon!! What makes this condo unique

The Whaler is right on the ocean and the back of the complex is on the Kaanapali golf course. It does not get any better than that. Right next door is Whalers village with shopping, bars and restaurants. The Sheraton is 2 properties door away with GREAT snorkeling at the famous Black Rock. Whale season is the end of November to the beginning of April and that is something special to view.

Perfect Unit!

We have stayed in several different units at the Whaler. This one is absolutely fabulous- Spacious, uncluttered, and well equipped with all of the cooking and cleaning necessities. You cannot beat the location of the Whaler, and then on top of that, the location of this unit. We enjoyed being on the ground floor with such easy access to the koi feeding in the mornings for kids, back and forth to the pool and beach, and just all around convenience. If you are coming to Maui, we highly recommend staying here!!

Great place to stay!

Cindy's unit was even better than expected. Beautifully furnished, with great mattresses, fully equipped kitchen and the best shower ever. I plan to remodel my bathroom this year, just to get a shower like the one in this unit! The beach chairs and umbrella were a pleasant surprise. The Whaler is my favorite place to stay, because it is so quiet and comfortable and centrally located. Cindy was very accommodating and easy to work with. My friend and I will definitely be back! We stayed two wonderful weeks and then moved to nearby beach villas at a hotel for a five night stay (I had a special "deal" given to me by a relative) and both my friend and I enjoyed our time at the Whaler a lot more than at the "fancy" hotel. Nice but Noisy

The Whaler is our favorite Kaanapali beachfront condo complex, but the lobby is currently being remodeled. Unfortunately, this unit is right next to the lobby construction. Sitting on the lanai is not enjoyable due to heavy drilling, hammering and sawing all day, even weekends. Call the Whaler front desk to make sure lobby construction is complete before booking this unit. As of early December 2016 construction was still under way. The front desk anticipates that construction should wrap up by Christmas.

When we contacted the owner about the construction noise, she was very apologetic and accommodating. She offered to refund our remaining nights' balance if we wanted to find another place to stay. We inquired at the front desk, but the only three units still available were also next to the lobby construction, so we decided to stay put.

Under normal circumstances I would give this property a 4-star, or "good" rating. However, until lobby construction is complete I would not select this unit.

The reason I would rate it a 4-star rather than a 5 is because this particular unit shares a wall with the building's three elevators, causing noise and vibration, primarily in the bedroom. If you are a light sleeper, make sure to bring ear plugs and to keep the bedroom fan on high, as recommended by the owner.

One final note is that the cable modem kept resetting, knocking us off the Internet. It appears to be malfunctioning. We contacted the front desk and they sent maintenance out but this issue was still not resolved as of checkout on Dec. 7. When calling about construction also inquire about the Internet issue.

Owner's Response: We are disappointed our guest experience was jaded by the construction noise. We were told the period of time that they chose to stay was supposed to be quiet construction (inside work of the new lobby) If we knew this was not going to be the case we would have told them. You never know with construction. That said the end result of the work is fabulous! We hope all our future guests will be as pleased as the others who have stayed in our unit for the last 18 years and given us wonderful reviews. Mahalo Cindy

Outstanding condo

This is a beautiful unit. It is very comfortable and clean. Being able to walk out the sliding glass door to go straight to the pool or beach was very convenient. I recommend this condo and would stay here again.

Low stress, high quality vacation setting and accommodation

We've used Cindy Johnson (manages a number of properties in Maui) for several years now. We love the units that she rents in The Whaler on Kaanapali. This particular unit is one that she owns. It's a one bedroom, one bath that easily handles a family or two couples since it has a Murphy bed in the living room--very separate from the master bedroom. Cindy has this ground level unit set up perfect. Meticulously clean; convenient, safe, and total access to the one of the best beach locations in Maui (famous Black Rock). You can even snorkel right out in front or walk down the beach for boogie boarding, other surf activities or snorkeling and diving. It's about 10 minutes from the main downtown of Lahaina. Easy access to shops in general. The Whaler, a nice general shopping complex is embedded in the shoreline with access from hotels. Cindy is also likely one of the best property managers that we have ever dealt with. Everything is turn key, convenient, quick and easy. If you want a low stress vacation in an ideal setting--this is it.

Great stay!!!

Our stay at this Condo was great! The pictures are accurate, but everything looks even better in person. The beds were comfortable and everything in the unit worked as it should.

The view from the lanai is breathtaking and the grounds of the Whaler are amazing! Hopefully we'll be able to come back and visit again!
