About Clifford and Dora Scott
My husband and I live in Virginia Beach, he is a long shoreman and I manage a dental practice and we both work for Twiddy cleaning a large beach house on sundays. I graduated from Kellam High School and my husband graduated from Currituck High School and we have enjoyed carova beach since we were children. We have rented homes here at the beach and on the canals since 1995. We have traveled all over the world but could never imagine vacationing anywhere better than Carova Beach.
Clifford and Dora Scott purchased this Cottage in 2014
Why Clifford and Dora Scott chose Corolla
My husband and I grew up enjoying carova beach all our lives and In 1997, the year after we were married, we were the first family to rent this home. We talked about how much fun we had and how we would love to own this piece of paradise. All I can say is never stop chasing your dreams. This year we bought our dream home 20 years later and with a little TLC we love it more today then we could even have imagine back then.
What makes this Cottage unique
The views, seclusion and close proximity to the beach and sound, makes this home a one of a kind. The comfortable decor and abundance of amenities make it easy to feel like your own slice of paradise. Just minutes to the surf where you can drive right up sink a chair, grab a book, and watch the water roll over your feet as all your stress rolls right away. The home has a boat launch and dock if you bring your own boat we are just minutes from Knotts Island, NC across the sound.

You need 4 wheel drive and you need to read the driving directions and it would help to know if it's high tide or low tide on the day of your arrival. These are important details in order to get to this amazing, beautiful house away from the rest of the world. You drive 9 miles down a beach (called beach access road - there is no road) and then you make a left over a dune and down a sandy street and into Paradise. The location is spectacular and the house is amazing. The decor and details are fantastic and you are given generous access to every fun option and amenity you can imagine. We started our mornings on the top deck watching wild horses run. Then there was fishing, canoeing, walking on the beach, watching wild horses from a few feet away, sunning on the deck, sitting on the deck, watching the sun set from the deck and sitting around a fire. It is serene and beautiful and I felt like I had a really fabulous friend with a really awesome house who just threw open the doors to me and let me come stay. The rooms are quiet and comfortable and the porches allow for a large group or a small setting away from the rest of the crew. I highly recommend every aspect of this setting and adventure for those who want to get away from it all.
Excellent location! Great house w such helpful owners...
We had a great time. Bringing our dog, Jynx, for his 1st vacation was amazing! We had horses in the yard. We were able to kayak. We used all amenities: fireplace, fire pit, hot tub, hammock. What a great time! The extra towels were nice. The bedding was comfortable. Being on the canal was really nice. It was our 1st time staying on the 4x4 beach. We drove our AWD Lexus and had no issues. We rounded our time away w a biplane ride in Manteo. We would return to Salty Kisses!
Most relaxing and fun seclusion on OBX.
My family really want to thank Dora, Reed, Clifford and Cindy for extremely warm welcome and awesome responses. They met all of our needs with kindness. Thank you and we hope to come and visit again soon.
We had a wonderful time in this beautiful house! The homeowners were welcoming and answered all of our questions and concerns. We unfortunately went while a nor’easter was heading through but definitely plan to come back in better weather. Four wheel drive is absolutely necessary for the beach. Also make sure you check tide charts before making plans to venture out!
Amazing property will definitely come again.
Had an amazing time and it was just what we wanted. We did not get to see the horses this time most likely due to the chilled weather. Most of the stores, lighthouse and restaurants were still closed for the season but we still had a great time. Amazing views esp watching the sunset over the bay while in the Jacuzzi! Dora was Amazing! She even called to check up on us to make sure we made it ok driving on the beach. It was an adventure driving on the beach but soooo much fun...look out for the stumps though and you must have 4ww or AWD. Great times good memories. Also, very well stocked with essentials and clean.
This was our first trip to the Outer Banks. If this your first experience at the Outer Banks, know that you MUST HAVE A 4X4 to access this amazing home or you WILL get stuck... The house was a perfect place for our family Christmas getaway. The house was decorated beautifully for Christmas as well as their 'normal' decorations.
My family and I enjoyed canoeing, roasting marshmallows at the fire pit, long daily walks together, hot tub relaxing and seeing many gorgeous wild horses and a few deer walking around. A couple of beautiful cranes stayed nearby and during one of our long walks by the ocean we saw a dolphin! Gods beauty surrounded us and was very evident at any hour of the day or night. Sunsets were spectacular, especially when enjoying it from the rooftop!
This incredible home is equipped with everything you need. Bring plenty of drinking water, food and paper products. Everything else is already there.
The homeowners are so nice and extremely accommodating. This was a perfect Christmas!
We'll be back!
4 wheel section of carova beach all water activities sightseeing, lighthouse, shopping, crabbing, fishing, swimming, sunning, golfing nearby
