About Mike Thomas

Our immediate family has been in Estes, Grand Lake, and Rocky Mountain National Park since my parents got married in Estes in 1982. Before that my Grandfather was at the Estes YMCA starting in the 50s. We have had a family cabin at Lemmon Lodge in Grand Lake since 1986 and love the area more than anywhere else on Earth. Rocky Mountain National Park will always be the center of our Colorado home.

Mike Thomas purchased this cabin in 2013

Why Mike Thomas chose Front Range

This cabin is made for family reunions and family gatherings. We love to help make memories and appreciate guests who come back year after year. Our goal is that every stay in the Rockies is unique and wonderful, and that we can share our love of the mountains with other families and new friends.

What makes this cabin unique

We are the ONLY two houses in Estes Park for rent on the lake. The views are stunning, as are the different seasons and the amazing wildlife that makes the area its home. We have unobstructed views of nature, regular visits from bald eagles and elk in the yard.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Michael's lake house is lovely! The view is just stunning. It's really something to wake up each morning to a wall of windows facing the lake and mountains. We didn't want to leave! Michael is a great host and easy to communicate with and the house is convenient to everything. We totally recommend this place and hope to come back again in the future!

Estes Lake cabin

  • 4 of 5

We had a great time at this cabin. We had 10 adults and 2 young children, and there was room enough for everyone. It's situated on the lake with beautiful views, but it's right next to a busy road leading into town. The house is pretty well insulated, so the road noise wasn't too bothersome, but 2 windows, in the kitchen and in the upstairs bathroom, are old and do very little to keep the wind and cold out. They should be replaced. Otherwise, the cabin is well-stocked with kitchen utensils, board games, books about the area, and it has a big pull-down screen which made it fun to watch movies. The owners did everything possible to make us feel welcome, and we all were glad to have stayed there. If not for some deferred maintenance, we would have rated this cabin with 5 stars.

Picturesque Stay On The Lake in Estes Park

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time staying in this cabin in Estes during a wedding. The view of the lake off each deck is unparalleled and breathtaking. Other out of town visitors repeatedly visited us for breakfast and dinner just to admire the view.

The cabin is warm and modern with well-appointed amenities, yet still maintains a classic colorado mountain charm. We loved using the hot tub after long hikes and admiring the views from that side of the property or having coffee on the deck in the mornings. The house comfortably slept 7 people, with a mix of couples and singles. We were a short drive to everything, especially the down town area. The owners are extremely responsive and accommodating with emails and inquires regarding the house as well prior to and during your stay.

We would definetely stay here again!

Spacious house, good location

  • 4 of 5

We used the house as a base for adventures in RMNP and fishing on the front range. Easy access to town was a bonus. House is in good shape overall - clean and well appointed. Nice kitchen with everything one might need. Renovations were midstream for our stay, but this was not a problem. Main floor shower lacks water pressure and Hot Tub is not as advertised (ad said it held 6 but its tiny - fits 2-3 average sized adults, possibly 4 maximum) and is older. Overall we were pleased with our choice and enjoyed our stay.

Beautiful Location

  • 5 of 5

The cabin has a beautiful location over the lake. We watched sunsets every night from the deck. There's a bald eagle nesting near by that we saw numerous times as it hunted fish from the lake. Plenty of room for the 6 of us. There is a very busy road near by but you get used to that quickly. We will certainly look to stay here again when we return to Estes Park.

Beautiful views!!

  • 5 of 5

We spent several nights in this cozy cabin on the lake. The views were breathtaking. We saw several eagles that would land in the trees near the deck. The cabin was very nice and updated. Any we enjoyed the hot tub, walks around the lake and fishing.

Our overall experience of this rental was fabulous. Mike and his family are detail oriented. The house is set up for you to enjoy your stay and the small details are extra luxuries that make you feel welcomed. Very relaxing. The best thing I can say is it's renting a home vs renting a house.

The kitchen is well stocked, clean and a nice layout. The outdoor grill is inviting. The bedrooms each have a nice design and the mattresses are great quality. The house layout provides privacy to all. The home has nice architectural detail. The view is outstanding. You will enjoy this home. The upstairs and downstairs family rooms are ideal for different zones to relax in.

The house is loaded with family movies and board games. There are many other details as well.

Mike is very accommodating. Kudos to your work. (Loved the wool ponchos). Thanks for sharing your home.

I'd Love to come back. My son is in Fort Collins and this drive wasn't a bad commute for his graduation from CSU.

My personal very minor recommendations (if I lived there)

This house needs a chess board

Sharper kitchen knives

Pencils and pens

The staff at the local mountain biking place were people you would not want representing a company. Very lazy. Unhelpful.
