The apartment is the perfect launching pad for any Newberg visit and wine tasting. Walk to coffee / restaurants and central to so many great wineries. Very comfortable and everything provided to make your stay amazing!
Best place to stay in Newberg. We have tried others vrbo's and this second story apt is the best. Whomever designed the apt is an artist. We have stayed twice, visiting our daughter at George Fox, and will stay here every time we visit!
This adorable and cozy apartment is in the perfect location for our girls' wine weekend. The host offered great tips, check-in and out was easy, and the whole experience was great.
Absolutely perfect spot and very well appointed. Bonus was it was in walking distance to The Painted Lady. Great coffee & bakeries nearby. Sheets and towels smelled good. We would stay her again.
Super easy to walk to anywhere in old downtown Newberg. The apartment has blazing fast internet, a responsive heating and cooling system and is near the gorgeous scenery of the nearby vineyards. Lori, our host, was super responsive! Easy parking out front. Go see Tommy at the Old Towne Brewery and get some fab cheese at the cheese and cocktails place. We loved our stay!
The place was spotless and welcoming. It's located near great restaurants (included the Italian place) and just blocks from the University. It was perfect and would rent it again without question.
Visiting family for the holidays. This an upstairs apartment, well layed out, well furnished. Very comfortable. Loved the decor. Just wished the freestanding gas fireplace was working but it did have central heat so no problem. Would stay here again.
Lori's place was wonderful! Very well appointed and thought out! A great jumping off point to all things in the Willamette Valley and walking distance to everything in downtown Newberg. Lori was helpful with suggestions for local restaurants/wineries and very easy to communicate with and quick to respond. Not a complaint, but if there was one thing I would change/add would be curtains/drapes/blinds over the kitchen window. There's a great view of the sunrise from there but could be bright.
We would definitely stay again the next time we are in Newberg. Thank you Lori for hosting us!

Really enjoyed our stay here! Great place and great location convenient to restaurants including the Painted Lady across the street. Also appreciated the recommendations from the host - we visited a few of them during our stay.
This was the cutest and cleanest vacation home we’ve ever stayed in. I was extremely impressed with everything. In the description, it said there would be bottled water and half and half in the fridge. I was glad I brought some just in case because there was nothing there. Which was totally fine! But if you’re relying on that, you may want to bring your own. Otherwise, it was an absolutely amazing stay!
Newberg is wonderful! The people are very kind and hospitable. The food is farm to table and excellent variety. The wine is outstanding. Learned so much from the wineries and also the convenience of wine bars/ flights.
The apartment is well-appointed with great looking quirky decor. There are lots of good looking shops, restaurants and bars in the immediate area, and coffee right across the street! Communication from the host was awesome, she even let us know about an event in town that weekend with a fireworks display just a few blocks away.
New amenities.. clean. Did not realize it was a second floor apartment. And no outside amenities. Parking on street not a big deal. Not able to connect to internet as name/password didn’t work. Contacted owner got no response.
This property was adorable and perfectly located in Newberg for walking to restaurants. We got great recommendations from the property owner and enjoyed a fancy Italian lunch, played bar trivia down the street and got delicious coffee just across the street. We also enjoyed a street festival just outside the front door. Loved staying here and we were very comfortable in the apartment
We were wine tasting so this was a good location. In the morning we walked across to the bakery, in the evening walked around the corner to several good restaurants.
Good selection of channels/apps to choose from on the TV as well.
Had a really good stay at Lori's home. Had a small issue when we arrived but Lori took care of it right away. Home is located in a perfect location to walk to dinner, coffee or a drink. Loved the Wednesday night farmer's market right out our front door. Easy communication with Lori and parking is a breeze.
We came to town for our sons graduation and had a lovely stay at Lori’s place. The location ways fabulous and the place was spotless!!! When I needed help or to ask a question Lori got back to me within minutes! We would stay here again in a heartbeat!!!!

About the host
Hosted by Doug & Lori Petersen
Doug and Lori purchased this apartment and the surrounding property in early 2013. The building has now become a neighborhood gem. The first floor was brilliantly restored to house Valley Wine Merchants, a wine mercantile with a wall of wine that will make any wine taster giddy. The owners are excited to offer the second story (The Newberg Downtowner) to travelers from near and far. The Downtowner Newberg is filled with amazing finds from Doug's experience as an auctioneer that he couldn't wait to share.
Why they chose this property
Doug's gift is seeing the potential in a property. After restoring numerous properties throughout Newberg (the kind of homes you'd see on This Old House), Doug saw the beauty and reward of restoring this building and what it could offer the community. The Downtowner Newberg was stripped to the bones and re-planned and furnished to accommodate the modern necessities of a traveler(s) to Oregon Wine Country.
What makes this property unique
Once you're here, your home. You're part of a neighborhood and part of the charm of the small wine and food centric community of Newberg. Walk across the street and get a cup of coffee and a baked good from Coffee Cat, stroll down the street and visit over 50 local artists at ART Elements, go downstairs and chat with Andrew at Valley Wine Merchants and find a bottle of wine you will want to share during the holidays or go across the street to The Painted Lady for a romantic fine dining experience you'll never forget. Welcome to Downtown Newberg, welcome to our community.
