About the property

3 Bedroom 2 Bath well appointed right on the Eagle River, Highway 6 in Avon

Located in a quiet, small community, our River Forge townhome is unique from the typical condo/townhome location which often have a large number of other units and people all around you. It is very quiet and peaceful.

This comfortable and cozy townhome features all 3 bedrooms upstairs each including luxurious linens and 2 full baths. The master bedroom has a queen sized bed, walk in closet and flat screen TV. The best feature about this room, and the bedroom right next to it, is the large sliding window that when opened, even slightly, allows you to hear the beautiful sound of the Eagle River right below. The master bath has double vanity sinks and an oversized tub with shower.

The larger bedroom has a queen bed and two twin beds. The other riverside room has two twins beds. If needed, there is a blow-up twin mattress in the close (with extra bedding).

Downstairs you will find a half bath, the utility room with full sized washer and dryer, cubbies for hats and gloves, and a boot dryer. Also on this main floor is a kitchen with new dishes, glassware and cookware, and new appliances, such as toaster oven, 4 slice toaster, coffee maker/hot water dispenser, large crockpot and large electric skillet. If you want to cook and eat at 'home', you'll find everything you need except the food! The kitchen opens into the dining area with a table that can be extended if necessary. The table is right next to the sliding glass door leading onto the deck.

The living room is comfortable and cozy with games for your enjoyment, as well as a 60 inch flatscreen HD TV and Blu Ray player. Our home has Comcast cable TV, as well as wifi for your convenience. The space includes a gas fireplace with logs, that warms up surprisingly with the flip of a switch. There is a large picture window with a gorgeous view.

The deck overlooks the river and includes a Weber grill and table with 6 chairs, a great place for relaxing in summer months.

River Forge is located about 1/2 mile east of Avon Road on Highway 6, tucked off the road, right by the Eagle River. Convenient to restaurants, shopping, grocery stores, bakeries and Starbucks, you are literally minutes from everything Avon/Beaver Creek has to offer, and very close to Vail and Arrowhead as well. The bus stop is just steps away from our home. The Westin Riverfront hotel is 1/2 mile east where you can take the Gondola up to the ski area and other lifts. The 'Bear' parking lot is only blocks away on Highway 6, which provides a convenient shuttle to Beaver Creek Ski area.

About Jay and Elaine Turner

We are from Dallas and visited Vail Valley for the first time in 2012. We were instantly hooked on the beauty, the cool temps (in August!), and everything that the Valley had to offer for recreation and relaxation. We began looking for something to purchase and share, and to hopefully someday, be able to spend more time. It didn't take long as we found River Forge. Our goal is to make the townhome our home away from home, and be able to share it with friends and family and new friends who come our way by VRBO.

Jay and Elaine Turner purchased this townhome in 2013

Why Jay and Elaine Turner chose Northwest

Quite simply, it was first, the location. Getting in and out is so easy, and River Forge really is convenient to all the things there are to do in the area. The beauty of the river cannot be overstated either.

What makes this townhome unique

So close to everything! Just a few minutes drive up to Beaver Creek Village or Vail Village or Arrowhead. Or bike riding along the beautiful paved pathway that follows along the Eagle River... There's just so much to do, in any season, and River Forge is right there in the middle of all of it!

Distance from River Forge #3 to:

Vail, 9.4 miles

Beaver Creek, 3.12 miles

Minturn, 6.24 miles

Great Stay and Wonderful Experience

  • 5 of 5

We just returned from our Spring Break ski trip and cannot say enough good things about Jay's place. The pictures don't do it justice. The townhouse is very tastefully decorated and all of the linens were very nice. There is everything you need in the kitchen and we really liked the idea of replacing anything you use. It made meal preparation much easier. We used the Weber grill on the deck a couple of times and it worked great.

We have used VRBO for many years and this is one of the best experiences. Jay is so nice and very responsive.

Thanks Jay! We hope to make it back in the summer.

Owner's Response: Cindy, thank you so much for the kind words. Elaine and I have worked to make River Forge our home away from home, and decorate it and equip it accordingly. We love hearing how much people really enjoy much as we do. I hope you guys will return often, including summer and fall. It's simply beautiful, so relaxing and so much to do.

Wonderful stay at amazing accommodations!

  • 5 of 5

We have a lovely stay at this cozy, beautifully decorated townhouse in a wonderful location in Avon, CO. The place looked exactly as it did in the photos, but better. IT included everything we needed to have a comfortable and amazing ski/snowboarding trip to both Vail and Breckinridge ski resorts. The day we left it began snowing in the morning and the views out the windows especially towards the rear of the lake running looked absolutely amazing! We will definitely be returning to this place to stay, this time we will try the spring time :).

Owner's Response: Kirk, we are so happy that you and your friends enjoyed your stay, and so appreciate the kind words about the accommodations. We try to make it our home away from home, and decorate it, and equip it that way. And you are right, the view out of the dining area and living room toward the Eagle River are just stunning, year round. Great to know that you want to return in the spring. We love that! The river is roaring in June during the snow melt providing some exciting rafting. Later in summer and fall, the hiking, biking, fishing and just being outdoors is so much fun. Thanks again, and we welcome you back anytime! Jay & Elaine

Wonderful Townhome, Beautiful Setting...

  • 5 of 5

Our family of four just stayed for "ski-week" at The Turner's lovely townhome and truly enjoyed every moment! Jay could not have been more accommodating and gracious. We picked up Pazzo's Pizza probaby 4 out of 7 nights (right in town and Very good) and enjoyed the privacy of the townhome. We skied BC every day and learned the bus system. There is a bus right out in front of the townhome that charges and will take you into Vail or town, etc. However, there is a free town system (Red line) just around the corner on Stonebridge that comes every half hour (as does the Charge bus) and will get you to the BC bus stop, the Westin, the grocery stores, etc.

With all the comments about how beautiful the location is during the Summer, we look forward to returning and will absolutely recommend to our friends and family. Thank you Jay (and Elaine) for another wonderful week in Colorado!

Owner's Response: Lisa, we were delighted to have had your family stay in our townhome, and so happy that you enjoyed your stay. Thank you for the great comments about the pizza, and especially for the tips on the bus system. That should be very helpful for future guests, and we'll need to add those points to our listing. We too look forward to your return visit, for winter fun, and for summer as well. And thank you for recommending us to your friends and family. Great picture of your family on the mountain, by the way! Jay & Elaine

Our family had a wonderful time over the Christmas break. The townhome was perfect for us. It had all the amenities we needed. Close to the bus stop or a short drive to Beaver Creek Village . It is also close to grocery shopping. I will probably stay at this townhome next year if available . I will also recommend this to my friends.

Thank You

Owner's Response: We are delighted that you found our home suitable for your family, and that you would like to return next year. We would love to have you! We also agree that the location is so convenient, to the bus route, to parking for shuttles to Beaver Creek Village, or even driving up yourself, as well as to the grocery store and restaurants. Also, we very much appreciate that you will refer our home to your friends! We are grateful for this compliment.

Beautiful townhome with an incredible view!

  • 5 of 5

This is the second time we have stayed at Jay and Elaine's townhome and we simply love it! The deck, with grill, is great for relaxing and enjoying a dinner. The location of the house is perfect! It's located right along the bike path, perfect for early morning runs or a walk to town to grab a coffee or lunch.

The townhouse is immaculate and clean with incredible mountain views from the deck and the picture window. The sounds of the Eagle River are so very relaxing, day or night. We cannot wait to return!

Beautiful townhome with a gorgeous view

  • 5 of 5

We spent 4 nights during spring break 2015. The townhome is well located (just a few minutes from the Beaver Creek parking lots), very clean and spacious. The beds were very comfortable and the unit was well equipped with everything we needed (kitchen, bathrooms). The view and sound of the Eagle River is gorgeous from the beautiful deck in the back. The owner (Jay) was very helpful and attentive. I highly recommend this townhome for a family of up to 6 people. I hope to return soon.

Car: recommended

Convenient to year round fun, River Forge #3 is located right on the Eagle River minutes from Beaver Creek Ski Area. The bus stop right out in front of the townhome takes you to Vail and to town, for a nominal fee. Right around the corner on Stonebridge (the street that goes across the Eagle River), is another stop, and this bus is free (the Red line), and will get you to the Beaver Creek bus stop, the Westin (where you can catch the gondola), and to grocery stores. These buses come every half hour. Vail and Arrowhead Ski areas are only minutes away as well and accessible by car or public transportation. Our townhome is also minutes from great restaurants in Avon, Edwards, Arrowhead and Vail. The beauty and tranquility of the Eagle River cannot be understated as you sit on the deck enjoying the view, or tuck yourself in at night with the window open listening to the river.

Enjoy the comfort of the living room, dining room and deck on the first level with gorgeous views of the river. The kitchen has top quality appliances, dishes, pots, pans, and utensils, for cooking at home as you relax after a long day of fun. There is a large screen HD TV in the den, along with a Blu-ray player, and free wifi as well.

Upstairs you will find three large bedrooms, the master with a queen size bed, dresser and night stands, a large bedroom with a queen and two twin beds, and a third bedroom with two twins . Luxurious linens for the beds and plush towels for the baths will comfort you after a day of skiing or hiking or shopping.

You will quickly learn that this location is quiet, but very convenient to everything you need in Avon...not only restaurants, but two stellar bakeries, Avon Bakery and the Columbine, a great grocery store, City Market, and local favorite restaurants, Vin 48 (a must try), Loaded Joe's, Montana's, to name a few...all right by each other near the Westin which is only 1/2 mile down Highway 6. And speaking of the Westin, the patio offers a breathtaking view of the entire Beaver Creek Ski Mountain, and has an excellent restaurant, Maya, not to be missed, as well as the renowned Spa for that relaxing massage.

Next door to the Westin is Beaver Creek Sports where you can rent bicycles, then take off down the paved path by the river toward Edwards to the west or Vail to the east.

For fly fishing enthusiasts, step right out the door of your townhome at River Forge into the Eagle River, or check out all the fishing guides in the area, and our favorite, Minturn Anglers, just 5 -10 minutes east of the house Highway 6 in Minturn.

In the summer, be sure to check out the various 'farmers' markets' in Vail Village, Minturn and other areas. The 'Vail Daily' newspaper will keep you informed. Also, we've enjoyed a day trip/hike to Piney River Ranch, or Booth Falls, and bike riding through Glenwood Canyon.

Also, not to be missed in the summer are the annual outdoor concerts at the Gerald Ford Amphitheatre in Vail.
