Wonderful house, wonderful time!

  • 5 of 5

What a marvelous house! The layout is terrific, especially the way the bedrooms all open right onto the pool. Sharon, the manager, and Bill, the owner, are very responsive to any needs or concerns. We had a terrific time and expect to repeat the experience.

One for the history books!

  • 5 of 5

One word... EPIC!! We loved the house, the amenities and the incredible service of Susan (property manager) and owner of the property. We felt so comfortable we didn't want to leave the house or the island. :) Vieques is an amazing island filled with nature wonders.

The house has EVERYTHING! Beach chairs, coolers, extra fridge, ice makers, toiletries, pantry items to help you get started... even a pet if you decide to welcome Mr. Kurtz and Ms. Izzy.

Even a year prior our trip, Susan provided valuable information that allowed us to prepare for this amazing trip. We can't wait to go back. Thank you for an memorable experience. We are forever grateful for all you did for us during our birthday celebration week in Vieques.

It was Awesome!

  • 5 of 5

If you are going to Vieques you must stay at this house! PERIOD.

Pro's: well designed (like awesomely designed!). Has everything you need and if they don't they will get it. Close to everything (walking distance into town). We enjoyed sitting out with the fire pit every night. All the bedrooms are the same (so no one couple gets a super cool suite because they all are!), safe in each of the rooms, lounging chairs and sofa's everywhere. Beach towels. Kitchen is fully stocked...FULLY STOCKED! And last but not least Susan (the property manager) = FANTASTIC!

Con's: There are no real con's to this place, just recommendations. One would be to have hammocks in the room above the garage, especially with that view would have been amazing! A couple of the ladies in our group suggested throw blankets be in each of the rooms. Lastly the pool, which was very beautiful but needs to be heated... it was too cold for everyone (even for us Canadians). I did tell this to Susan and she said the owner is on it! I suspect this to be rectified in the near future.

We stayed in the house from Jan 30 - Feb 8th, 2017.

Owner's Response: Doug - We are so glad you enjoyed your stay at Paraíso, and we appreciate your recommendations, which were spot on. Here is what we are doing: As to the chilly pool: Heated pools are by far the exception here on this island in the tropics, but you are the second guest who commented on the water temperature during the winter months. The pool is there to be used, not to be admired from a distance. Just this afternoon, I met with the contractor who will install a heating system during the summer. The pool will soon be comfortable for use year round. (Even by hardy Canadians!) Hammocks: Check. Susan and I think the idea of a couple of hammocks under the pergola is a great one. We are figuring out what kind we think will work best there, and will have hammocks for our guests soon. Throw blankets: On Susan's shopping list to pick up on her trip to the main island next week. Your suggestions were three for three! Thank you for your thoughtfulness in passing them on to us. Again - we are so glad you enjoyed your stay, and we would love to see you again. Bill

They thought of everything!

  • 5 of 5

Our stay in your home was outstanding. The layout, the design, the amenities were absolutely perfect for our two families. We literally could not have asked for a better arrangement.

The kitchen had everything we needed for a large group that loves to cook. There was nothing we looked for that we didn’t find. We cooked breakfast, lunch, and dinner every single day and only ended up going out to eat on the night of our Bio bay excursion out of convenience. The staples you provided and the appliances were wonderful. We made everything from grilled spiny lobsters to nutella bread pudding.

Susan was a dream. She was at the ready for any question and was really an invaluable resource. Her suggestions were helpful and you can tell she really loves to share.

The house itself is wonderful. There were enough "community spaces" and "alone time nooks" to where we could each enjoy the amount of togetherness we each needed at any one time. Your equipment was great. It was so great to have flippers for all of us…and as fate would have it, we found a pair that fit each one of us... 7 people! The beach chairs were great as well. The linens and towels were excellent and the AC in the bedrooms was nice to have even though we barely needed it.

When we come back to Vieques, we would only want to stay at your house. Whenever we travel, we generally rent apartments or houses wherever we go and yours is by far the best situated and well equipped home we have ever stayed in. You really have thought of everything.

Welcome to Vieques, Puerto Rico, USA! Surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean Sea, and located about 8 miles east of the Puerto Rico mainland, this wonderful island is only 21 miles long and 4 miles wide at its broadest point.

Also known as Isla Nena (Little Girl Island), Vieques is blessed with temperatures that rarely fluctuate from the mid-eighties during the day to the mid-seventies at night. Vieques is easy to get to from the U.S. (no passport required), and just a short flight from San Juan or a ferry ride from Fajardo, PR. You will not find any casinos, golf courses, movie theaters, stop lights or fast food; but you will find the Vieques National Wildlife Refuge, over 17,000 acres that are home to at least 4 endangered plant species and 10 endangered animal species. You will find an excellent historical museum at the restored El Fortin Conde de Mirasol on the north side of the island, and the Vieques Conservation and Historical Trust in the lively resort area of Esperanza, on the southern coast. And Vieques is home to the brightest and best-known bio-luminescent bay in the world, with excellent guides who will take you on an unforgettable excursion.

But most of all, you will find miles and miles of pristine and uncrowded white sand beaches, perfect for just sunbathing, sailing and snorkeling. Get away from it all and embrace the peace and beauty that still exist in only a few places in the Caribbean! Very soon, you will learn to yield the right of way to the wild horses who roam the island. But do not be fooled by our unspoiled beauty. We are also home to world-class restaurants, art galleries, fun shopping and some of the best sightseeing in the Caribbean.

Paraíso, with its 360-degree view, is located in the lovely hillside neighborhood of Bravos de Boston, on the north shore of Vieques. You will be able to see Puerto Rico to the west, our sister island Culebra to the north, and St. Thomas and St. John in the U.S. Virgin Islands to the northeast. Bravos is a neighborhood of both large and small homes within walking distance to busy Isabel Segunda. The house is enclosed with gated privacy walls for easy access and is nestled within beautiful private gardens that create the peaceful atmosphere.

We do recommend renting a car from one of the Vieques Island car rental companies, so that you can explore our island at your leisure.

To find out more about our island visit, or Vieques has been featured in the New York Times, on the Today show, and on HGTV. “They” are finding us….now it is your turn. Come see why the Today show calls our Island “luxury for less”, and find out what it is like to live on an unspoiled island in the Caribbean!
