Situated on the first floor of Palazzo Pfanner, a prestigious baroque palace and a ‘building of historic interest’ in the centre of Lucca, the apartment recreates the atmosphere of ancient patrician homes. The apartment, frescoed during the 18th and 19th centuries, with the original beamed ceiling and floor decorated with small coloured mosaics in the Venetian style, offers a splendid panoramic view over the 18th century historic Garden of Palazzo Pfanner and the adjacent city Walls. It comprises a vast light double bedroom with three wide windows that look onto the Garden (with the possibility of adding two little folding beds suitable for children from 0 to 4 years old), a bathroom with shower cabinet, a sitting cum dining room (with two added single beds), a kitchen with an ancient stone sink and a corridor. The apartment is furnished with valuable period furniture. The fireplace can be used but only with the consent of the owner. Free access is available from the apartment to the adjacent monumental Residence and Garden. In the immediate vicinity there are restaurants, bars, shops, and supermarkets. The car park is only five minutes away on foot.

The flat is very spacious, elegantly furnished, the kitchen has all you need. Garden and palace wonderful, tourists are happy to pay to visit it. Dario Pfanner, the owner, very kind. And music-lover. We were very fortunate that the flat was available for the days we spent in Lucca for a delightful festival of classical music. Francesco.
Elegant, inviting, friendly
What a cool place! A 17th century palazzo, an actual museum, nicely located in a charming town. We booked a room here to cap off a week in Italy and really enjoyed it. The proprietors go out of their way to be helpful. Serena pointed us to a free Chopin concert, and Dario suggested which villas in the countryside were worth visiting.
For those arriving by the motorway, come off at the Lucca Est exit, take Viale Europa, cross the ring road around the Walls, enter through Porta Santa Maria, park the car and proceed on foot along via della Cavallerizza. The apartment is situated 50 metres from the Basilica of San Frediano in via degli Asili 33.
In the splendid historic centre of Lucca can be visited numerous historic palaces, churches, museums and temporary exhibitions. It is delightful to walk along the 4 kms. of the 16th century Walls. In June/July Lucca holds the Summer Festival (a festival of pop music); in October/November there is Comics and Games (an international fair for comics and cartoons). Close to Lucca you can make excursions on foot, horseback or bicycle both on the neighbouring hills and the Apuan Alps. For those that like the sea, the beaches at Viareggio and Versilia are only 30 mins. by car. The other historic cities of Tuscany, Pisa, Florence and Siena can be reached in 20, 45 and 90 mins. by car. In the immediate vicinity of Lucca is the lake of Massaciuccoli with its naturalistic oasis that can be explored by boat or canoe, as well as the historic residence of Giacomo Puccini.
