Overview

About the property

Beautiful house in quiet river village, with optional use of attached workshop!

Beautiful Greek Revival home with wide wrap around porches poised for sunset views over the tidal Medomak valley and river. Set on 3 acres of hillside, and a 5 minute walk to the quiet village of Waldoboro and its town dock (kayaking/canoeing, etc), this is a peaceful getaway home close to so many beautiful parks, waterways, and other more famous areas of mid midcoast Maine (but more crowded!), such as Damariscotta, Rockland, Camden, Belfast, Acadia. In summers charter a small skiff ride down our river or other launches nearby (explore the islands around Muscongus Bays, include a picnic or stop for a lobster roll in Round Pond by boat!), or in the winter sit by the wood stove and the fireplace, and consider cooking at the working wood cook stove.

Rooms are lovingly furnished with owners' finds from antique and flea markets, and virtually every room has a working turntable with a handful of records ready to play (or bring your own!). This house is the primary home of it's owners, Paul and Erica, and in wanting to share it's beauty, they hand it over to visitors to take opportunities to visit family and sail the coast, or they stay in the barn loft to focus on their studio work. Contact is advised prior to booking to assure latest updates in availability!

In the attached post and beam barn is a well appointed metal and wood shop, available upon request for guided use and/or furniture to sculpture, we can arrange to be a sort of Maker Space B&B! We also offer a 15% discount off our handmade wares to guests and their friends & family, purchased at the house or at our website.

About Erica Moody

Paul and Erica relocated here recently to live in a quieter and more environmentally rich location, after living on their sailboat in Boston Harbor for 3 1/2 years. They also moved and operate their business, Magma Metalworks, in the attached post and beam barn, where lodgers can also arrange to receive instruction on custom metal work techniques (including welding and brazing for sculpture or furniture for example), or vintage motorbike maintenance or restoration (ask them for more details and package discounts). Hand made metal wares can also be bought at a 15% discount to renters and their guests.

Why Erica Moody chose Waldoboro

Quiet and out of the hectic tourist towns, walking distance to town and boat launch, and other convenient amenities of a small village. The house is beautiful, with tall ceilings and many large windows, with a beautiful hillside pasture and Ash forest that lead to acres of town land with trails. Beautiful views of the Medomak Valley and the tidal river from the house, and close to an incredible choice of many trails and cultural entertainment.

What makes this farmhouse unique

Optional extras include chartering a skiff down the Medomak River, and/or getting a welding/metalworking lesson in the barn studio. If interested, please inquire!

Wonderful!

  • 5 of 5

Loved the idea of the five bedrooms and three and a half bathrooms! Two of our three children, their spouses, and their children were able to stay under one roof while attending our third child's wedding. This wedding was a distance wedding for us and we needed accommodations. My son and his wife love antiques, and they just loved what they saw at the house, as well as one of our granddaughters. This one loved the chello!

Thanks again Erica and Paul!!

Charming and a nice large house.

  • 5 of 5

We spent 4 nights here and what a lovely experience to be around all the beautiful antique furniture. We were a party of 9 and the house was very large and spacious. Erica and Paul were helpful and it was interesting to see the metal work they create. We fixed dinner outside at the fire pit and it was a fun evening. Well stocked and close to diners and shopping,

Thanks for sharing your home. Janice Nylund and family

Loved our stay

  • 5 of 5

We were there only for a short weekend, but it was nice to get away from the city. It's close to Harbor Bay and it was close to Lobster Fest which is what we were there for. Erica and her husband made us feel comfortable.

Brilliant place to spend a week or two.

  • 5 of 5

The Sea Captain's home is a great place to stay if you want to be in the hub of Mid Coast Maine. There is plenty of room, with 5 bedrooms, a living room and large kitchen, not to mention a wrap around porch where you can sit for hours.

The beds are comfortable, affording a good night's sleep to get you ready for the next day's adventures.

The owners are wonderful folks, willing to help point you in the right direction but in no way obtrusive.

We hope to get back up and take advantage of this wonderful property again soon!

Fun family reunion in Mid Coast Maine

  • 5 of 5

We had 3 generations share this roomy house. There were 7 adults and 4 children. We loved the wrap around porch and we were able to sit outside on rainy nights. We cooked s'mores on the fire pit as well. The kitchen was well stocked with cooking materials. The location was ideal for day trips. The owners were helpful and attentive.

We enjoyed the antiques and flea market finds. We also were a little toasty one night with the windows not opening in 2 bedrooms. Erica advised me that this was taken care of after we left, so that should no longer be a concern. Thanks for sharing your home!

A wonderful old house in a small, quiet town.

  • 5 of 5

Six of us, two aunts, an uncle, a nephew, a niece and the niece's boyfriend took over this great old house. I chose it because it because of the porch and because it had a lot of character. Some of the houses I saw on line resembled hotels, furnishings-wise. This old house is welcoming and relaxing. My niece and nephew, in their 20s, adored it and wanted to take all the furniture -- antiques and vintage pieces collected at such places as Brimfield, Mass. -- home. We spent most of the time we weren't out exploring on the porch, but enjoyed the large bedrooms and cooking meals in the roomy kitchen. We liked our hosts -- both artist-artisans -- very much and found them helpful, attentive and obligingly retiring. Our one regret was that we went too far afield when we should have been investigating Waldoboro, including the soap store downtown, the old Moravian church and the art walk.
