Property type farmhouse

About the property

Beautiful house in quiet river village, with optional use of attached workshop!

Beautiful Greek Revival home with wide wrap around porches poised for sunset views over the tidal Medomak valley and river. Set on 3 acres of hillside, and a 5 minute walk to the quiet village of Waldoboro and its town dock (kayaking/canoeing, etc), this is a peaceful getaway home close to so many beautiful parks, waterways, and other more famous areas of mid midcoast Maine (but more crowded!), such as Damariscotta, Rockland, Camden, Belfast, Acadia. In summers charter a small skiff ride down our river or other launches nearby (explore the islands around Muscongus Bays, include a picnic or stop for a lobster roll in Round Pond by boat!), or in the winter sit by the wood stove and the fireplace, and consider cooking at the working wood cook stove.

Rooms are lovingly furnished with owners' finds from antique and flea markets, and virtually every room has a working turntable with a handful of records ready to play (or bring your own!). This house is the primary home of it's owners, Paul and Erica, and in wanting to share it's beauty, they hand it over to visitors to take opportunities to visit family and sail the coast, or they stay in the barn loft to focus on their studio work. Contact is advised prior to booking to assure latest updates in availability!

In the attached post and beam barn is a well appointed metal and wood shop, available upon request for guided use and/or furniture to sculpture, we can arrange to be a sort of Maker Space B&B! We also offer a 15% discount off our handmade wares to guests and their friends & family, purchased at the house or at our website.

About Erica Moody

Paul and Erica relocated here recently to live in a quieter and more environmentally rich location, after living on their sailboat in Boston Harbor for 3 1/2 years. They also moved and operate their business, Magma Metalworks, in the attached post and beam barn, where lodgers can also arrange to receive instruction on custom metal work techniques (including welding and brazing for sculpture or furniture for example), or vintage motorbike maintenance or restoration (ask them for more details and package discounts). Hand made metal wares can also be bought at a 15% discount to renters and their guests.

Why Erica Moody chose Waldoboro

Quiet and out of the hectic tourist towns, walking distance to town and boat launch, and other convenient amenities of a small village. The house is beautiful, with tall ceilings and many large windows, with a beautiful hillside pasture and Ash forest that lead to acres of town land with trails. Beautiful views of the Medomak Valley and the tidal river from the house, and close to an incredible choice of many trails and cultural entertainment.

What makes this farmhouse unique

Optional extras include chartering a skiff down the Medomak River, and/or getting a welding/metalworking lesson in the barn studio. If interested, please inquire!

Rambling house with lots of interesting nooks and crannies, and great furnishings!

  • 5 of 5

We spent 3 days and 2 nights at the house, as a holiday getaway for us, our two adult children and their partners. We loved the interesting furnishings and especially enjoyed being able to cook in the kitchen. The beds were very comfortable, and each couple had a separate bathroom, which was a bonus. The owner was clear that we could set the thermostat where we wanted, so we were comfortable even on cold winter nights. The owner was very responsive to my questions before we arrived. We took a day trip to nearby Pemaquid Point, a family favorite, to watch the sun set. It was beautiful. I would recommend this property for a large family or 3-4 couples who want an especially laid back experience on the coast of Maine.

Great space, better than the pictures. Many interesting items throughout the well maintained home.

We had a wonderful stay in Waldoboro to celebrate Christmas with family travelling to Maine from far and wide. The house was large enough to accommodate 7 adults and 2 children comfortably. The owners were very accomodating and even set up a Christmas tree and left decorations which really helped make for a festive atmosphere. Everyone enjoyed the warmth of the wood stove, the comfortable beds, the great trail system behind the house and the vintage records we played all weekend on the turn table. We all would definitely rent this home again.

Wonderful Stay

  • 5 of 5

We were fortunate enough to rent Erica & Paul's lovely and spacious home for our overflow guests. The house was very roomy with lots of personal touches. Six guests (4 women, 2 men) had plenty of options to pick from with respect to bedrooms and bathrooms. Everyone especially loved the cast iron stove in the kitchen and the farmhouse kitchen table. The house is close to many amenities (Hannaford Grocery, Moody's Diner, Borealis Breads, etc. on Route 1) and has easy access to the larger towns such as Damariscotta or Rockport/Camden. More personally, Erica and Paul were gracious enough to give us a tour of their metal workshop behind the house, where they create metal architectural design elements, and make beautiful artisanal tools from brass and copper. Thank you for sharing your home and workshop.

Wonderful location, wonderful hosts!

  • 5 of 5

This was our first experience with Home Away and it was a very positive one. We loved the house with it's antique décor and beautiful wrap around porch-it was perfect for our family reunion. Having coffee in the morning and watching humming birds from the kitchen window was delightful. The location was a perfect springboard for exploring the beauties of Maine. We were charmed by the little town with its art galleries and tavern. Our hosts, Erica and Paul, could not have been more accommodating! We were fortunate to meet them and found them to be both interesting and kind. We highly recommend this property and would also consider staying there again.

Beautiful home!

  • 5 of 5

The house was beautiful and very comfortable. We had 7 in our party, and there was more than enough room for everyone. The owner was very easy to communicate with, and even left fresh flowers in almost every room. It really felt like we had just stopped in at a friend's house to stay... it was that comfy and welcoming.
