About the property

Knotty pine cabin within walking distance of all the village amenities..

The Camp Creek Lodge is located in the heart of the alpine village at the base of the Glade Trail. It was constructed in 1937. The cabin features a knotty pine interior and a majestic stone fireplace.

The main level contains the entry foyer, living room / dining area, kitchen, utility room, a full-bathroom, a half-bathroom, and the main entry foyer. The upstairs contains two bedrooms, and a sleeping area at the top of the stairs. There have been multiple improvements throughout the years to make the cabin more comfortable, convenient, and safe without sacrificing the work done by the skilled craftsman of the 1930's.

The roads to the cabin and parking at the cabin are plowed during winter. There is parking for two cars on site with nearby public parking available for additional vehicles.

The cabin has plenty of yard area for children to play and just up the road at the dead end is a great winter play area with a hill ideal for inner-tubing. Access to the trails along the north side of Government Camp are accessed through this area and lead to a large network of hiking/cross country skiing/snowshoeing trails. Trails to south side of the village can be access by walking over the Multorpor bridge. These trails give easy access all the way to Trillium Lake and beyond.

Village shops and restaurants are only a two minute walk away, ideal for be able to leave the car at the cabin when doing culinary and retail exploring.

The cabin is stocked with board games and videos. The Govy General Store (200' away) rents DVD's and sells items to make your trip even more enjoyable.

While at the cabin don't forget to check out the Mt. Hood Museum and Cultural Center as well as the Arts Cabins.

About Julie Skowhede

Welcome to the Camp Creek Lodge. We offer a well maintained, clean, comfortable cabin high in the Northern Oregon Cascades village of Government Camp. Our family has owned cabins on Mt. Hood since 1916 and because of this we have spent years living, recreating and exploring in the area. We know Mt. Hood's history and what it currently has to offer. The cabin was built in the 1930's and maintains the look and feel of that era. From the knotty pine interiors to the large stone chimney this is the type of cabin one might see in the background of an L.L. Bean or Eddie Bauer catalog. Throughout the years though, just the right amount of tasteful and sometimes hidden upgrades have been incorporated to make it warm, convenient and safe. Our goal is to offer families the opportunities to make lasting treasured memories that can be kept and enjoyed for years to come. Our guests are amazed what a visit to our cabin will do for their soul. During the darkest grayest rainy days of winter we offer an escape to a winter wonderland of beautiful white fluffy snow. We are a family owned operation and do all the visit arrangements, final cleaning, and maintenance ourselves. When you call us you will be talking to the owners of the cabins. We take great pride in our lodging and encourage you to contact us by telephone or e-mail with any questions you may have. If when you call we can't satisfy your desired reservation dates we will do our best to give you suggestions on who else to call. We look forward to working with you.

Why Julie Skowhede chose Mt. Hood, The Gorge

When looking for property we knew we wanted to purchase a cabin that was located in Mt. Hood's alpine village. Government Camp is the closest village to the high alpine outdoor activities we enjoy doing. It also has a great little business district that meets all of our needs while staying at the cabin as I'm sure it will for our guests too. The cabin is conveniently located in the heart of the Village. Walking to the shops, restaurants, or museum, is easy 2-3 minute walk. The cabin is also within a very short walking distance to winter play hills, recreation areas, and miles of backcounty hiking, cross county skiing and shoeing trails. Located at nearly the 4000' elevation of Mt Hood the cabin is within one half mile of Ski Bowl East (Multorpor) with its winter and summer recreation. The cabin is also just minutes from year 'round skiing at Timberline Lodge and from Mt Hood Meadows ski resort.

What makes this cabin unique

When we first saw the interior of this cabin we knew it was what we had been looking for. Its knotty pine interior and large stone fireplace help make the cabin feel the way an alpine cabin should feel.

Great spot for family getaway

  • 5 of 5

This cabin has a great location in government camp. It's easy to walk to anything in downtown. Downstairs has a big living room and dining room that is really nice for hanging out with a group. Really nice big windows for looking out at the snowy forest. The hosts are very nice and accomadating. We will definitely come back to this cabin in the future!

The location of this cabin is exceptional! Everything is walking distance. The cabin was spacious, comfortable and clean, and the kitchen was very well stocked. The cabin has many windows to enjoy the view. The backyard was great for our kids to play in the snow. We were happy to enjoy the fireplace. It's a great place for families!

Great place to stay. Can't beat the location!

  • 4 of 5

We had a great time with two families (7 adults/kids) staying in this cabin. Room for two cars in the driveway. Everything was in great working order. Awesome location, one block away from Govt. Camp main drive, and right behind the general store. Only minor negative is that the beds are all upstairs and the bathrooms are not, so need to go down steep staircase at night for restroom. Overall good value for larger group.

The Heart of Govy!

  • 5 of 5

Our family has been blessed to spend many winters in this cabin over the past 15 years. We have hesitated to share this secret haven with others, it is THAT special. This is a cozy, impeccably clean cabin with a historic feel (think 1930s, Timberline, Eddie Bauer/LL Bean) which is owned by a family who has lived in Govy for generations. It is a mere two block stroll to Govy General Store, High Mountain Café, and the center of town. When it snows, you have the biggest backyard of mountains of pristine snow to build sledding runs and snow forts. When it does not snow, you can explore the cute cabins of Govy and the trails to Mt. Hood. There is a peaceful creek behind the property which keeps it very private and quiet.

The cabin has a full kitchen and laundry facilities and easily sleeps nine with room to spare. The main room boasts a woodstove, and there is excellent heating throughout. Two large SUVs can fit in the driveway, a bonus given that parking can be difficult in Govy. There are a variety of DISH channels and wifi with boosters, but something about the cabin makes even jaded tweens want to be "off the grid", play checkers, complete a jigsaw puzzle and hang out with the family. Given the amenities, it would be easy to not leave the cabin at all for many days. The owners are fantastic, live nearby and are immediately responsive about any need. We haven't had an issue more than a lightbulb burning out after more than a dozen stays here, as it is very well kept.

Locally, you are in the perfect spot for skiing at Timberline or Meadows... imagine "coming home" when everyone else has to drive back to the city! The horse drawn carriages sweetly jingle by during the winter season. Ski Bowl tubing is just across Hwy 26, though after sledding here, it seems silly to pay for tubing. Ski Bowl's summer activities are very close as well.

We have shared the cabin with coworkers, hosted a bachelor party and invited other families to sled at this cabin... it is very adaptable and a wonderful place to celebrate! We know that you will enjoy this cabin as much as we have!

We had such a great experience. The cabin was large enough to host 9 adults and we didn't feel we were on top of each other . We were close to everything and could sled down the street in the evening. It was magical I would highly recommend!!
