Silver Cedars Cabin is located 10 miles from Government Camp/Mt Hood along Lolo Pass Road in Zig Zag Village right on the Sandy River. The cabin is situated at the end of a road with spectacular views into a 22 acre wooded parcel and a year-round creek. The cabin is completely renovated as of January 2009 (only the framing is original). The cabin has a modern/rustic feel with hand-made custom furniture, unique flooring and one of a kind concrete countertops with recycled glass. You can also relax on the large deck (partially covered) on the side and back of the cabin with a view of the creek and a hot-tub.
The master bedroom is an open loft upstairs with a queen bed and a pull-out futon double bed. The downstairs bedroom also has a queen bed. The living room has a brand new queen-size sofa bed.
The Sandy River is right across the street. There are plenty of trails within walking distance and a community pool/tennis courts just down the road. The ski resorts, including Ski Bowl and Summit Ski Resort and the turn off for Timberline, are just 10 miles away. Cross-country skiing, snow-shoeing, bike riding and hiking are literally just feet from the cabin.
The National Forest boundary is just a few miles away where you can hike to waterfalls, snowmobile and get views of Mt Hood. There are plenty of restaurants to choose from in the towns of Welches, Zig Zag and Rhododendron. The closest grocery store is just 3 miles away. The Resort at the Mountain Golf Course is approximately 5 miles away.
There is a hard drive at the cabin with over 300 movies, including the latest releases and kid movies. Internet is available as well. The kitchen is equipped with a drip coffee maker, french press, pancake machine, Quesadilla Maker, condiments, spices, coffee, tea and hot chocolate. For the kids, there is a farm animal waffle maker and a toaster that puts a Mickey Mouse face on the toast. We also have Legos, Lincoln Logs, Tinker Toys, and lots of games. For the infants and toddlers, we have a port-a-crib and a booster chair. Washer/dryer and outdoor grill are also available. There is also an IPOD dock that you can connect your IPOD, IPhone or any MP3 device so you can listen to your own music.
We spent three days in "the woods" in June 2009. The kids enjoyed the well-chosen toys, spent hours at the creek, and we all enjoyed walking around on the local trails. The cabin is outstanding; well designed, nicely arranged and has an excellent "feel" with all the glazing. We have used VRBO numerous times over the last 17 years and this place is one of the best we have found. WE WILL COME BACK!
Thank you especially for making it reasonable and accomodating. You obviously have put a lot of work into this cabin. Thank you very much.
my friend and i had an amazing stay in susan's cabin. clean, cozy, and comfortable, the house is surrounded by moss-covered trees, a creek, and incredibly fresh air. the kitchen is well-stocked and has large windows facing the forest. it was amazing to wake up and walk out to those views. the outdoor hot tub was perfect, especially after hiking (and sometimes before). susan was very responsive and accommodating as well. i'd love to come back as soon as i can - staying here was the highlight of my trip.
My girlfriend and I had an excellent stay at this cabin. It is tucked away in the back of a small neighborhood, so you feel like you are alone in the woods. The cabin was very clean and comfortable. We loved all the small details and decorations. The actual cabin is as pretty as the pictures posted. The kitchen is great for cooking/entertaining and it was stocked with all of the basics...including coffee! The living room was great for relaxing and watching a movie or playing board games. The hot tub was very clean and was a perfect way to end the evening. It's in a great location if you are exploring the Mt. Hood wilderness area. There are local restaurants and stores nearby for convenience. I would absolutely come back again and I would highly recommend it for anyone looking for a comfortable, home-like stay near Mt. Hood. The owner was very responsive with questions/requests before our stay.
This place was perfect for our honeymoon! Everything you can think of that you may have forgotten was in that cabin! It felt so cozy and the hot tub was amazing after a long day of hiking! I could not have chosen a better place to stay for our honeymoon!
We loved this place. It is quiet and secluded, the construction is top notch, and it has a rustic but expertly maintained feel. For our adult family of four it was perfect. Our young adult kids were comfortable on the futon and queen sized loft beds and the main bedroom was conveniently located near the bathroom downstairs. We particularly enjoyed the walk-in shower (feels like you're in the woods - in a good way) and the hot tub out on the deck. While we are not into the ski scene, we enjoyed our summer mini-vacation and found lovely hikes close by.
My friends and I truly enjoyed our stay here! It was so relaxing!!
My husband, dog and I spent a relaxing week at Silver Cedars. I have "creaky" knees so we slept in the cozy "Yosemite" room downstairs and took advantage of the level trail along the river. We also enjoyed nearby Trillium anf Timothy lakes, although it was difficult to get an early start when breakfasting on the porch and drinking the fresh coffee that's provided. So fun to play house with the wraparound windows looking out on to green-ness.
