About the property

1 Bedrooms, 1 Bath, Sleeps 1-2

Trade winds blow through this tropical paradise. The ocean is an easy 10-15 minute walk. This recently remodeled home is surrounded by a tropical garden and is the perfect getaway. The house is situated on a one acre lot that is fully landscaped. There are an uncountable variety of tropical trees, plants and fruits on this property. There is a comfortable fully covered lanai to spend your evenings watching the sunset after a day of exploring the island.

Our home is fully furnished and has everything you need to make your trip memorable. This is a one bedroom home with a queen sized bed that has a wonderful view of the morning sunrise. The kitchen has granite counters, a dishwasher and is equipped for cooking at home. We provide all linens and towels. There is wireless internet access. The property is gated so it is private.

We do not use catchment water. We have our own private well to take care of all of your water needs.

The Jungalow's central location makes a great home base for short trips to Volcano National Park, the Hamakua Coast, Akaka Falls, Kahuna Falls, Rainbow Falls, Umauma Falls, Farmers’ Markets and a nearby Black Sand Beach. There are many great restaurants nearby in Pahoa and Hilo.

If you need more room please see our VRBO listing #395200 which is on the adjoining property.

I love, love, LOVE this house ! What a slice of paradise. The house and yard are immaculate and tastefully done. The yard is definitely a tropical paradise with orchids and bromeliads growing in the trees and a treasure to be found everywhere you look ! As written in previous comments, the house is very well equipped and has many extra touches that make for a very pleasant stay. This place is a feast for the eyes and food for the soul. The nightly showers were very welcome to us as we are from southern California and love was nice to fall asleep to. The owner Deb was very helpful when a problem arose with the TV because of tropical storm Darby and sent a friend over to help us with it....very nice man ! Thank you Deb for your kindness and understanding !

Jungalow Paradise

  • 5 of 5

This was our favorite vacation rental ever, not only because it is a beautiful home, but it had everything we needed. Most vacation rentals we’ve used have nothing but bare bones essentials (we’ve even had to buy our own toilet paper because only one roll was provided). We’ve also been asked to completely empty out the fridge at the end of our stay at other rentals, wasting condiments that the next occupant could have used. We were delighted to find that there was a nice variety of condiments in the fridge here. There was also coffee with creamer and sweeteners, a large variety of spices, and everything else you would ever need in a kitchen. The bathroom was also well stocked. There was even sunscreen and aloe gel that someone else had left behind. You can tell that Deb truly cares that her guests have everything they might possibly need. There were flashlights, bug spray, books, movies, camp chairs, even an extra toothbrush and toothpaste!

Deb was great to work with, prompt with replies, and provided a lot of useful information about the area, including restaurants, snorkeling information, etc. We were extremely happy with the whole process. This property is truly beautiful, inside and out. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the Jungalow to anyone! (P.S. – Please let us know if you’d like to sell it! :) )

Can't wait to return

This was our second stay at the Jungalow. We stayed for two weeks. We love the place. It is situated in a very quiet neighborhood and surrounded by jungle. The lanai is a perfect place to sit and relax.

Once again, the Jungalow was spotless. It is definitely well cared for not only by the owners but previous guests.

Deb is wonderful to work with if you ever have any questions though there is a property manager who lives very close by if help is needed.

We are looking forward to our third visit and the Jungalow is where we will stay.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the Jungalow! Very private and yet close drive to Hilo and ocean.

You have a very nice, well maintained, private place in the Jungalow. We thoroughly enjoyed the setting – watching the gentle rainfall as we sat on the porch, listening to the frogs and birds, and taking pictures of all the trees and flowers. The neighborhood is very quiet. The house is very clean and well maintained. We appreciated the quality kitchenware and well stocked utility closet.

We also appreciated all the travel tips you gave us – nearby restaurants such as Luquins and Ken’s Diner, early morning walks down to the ocean, the Maku'u market on Sunday morning, Wednesday evening in Kalapana, and the tide pools at Richardson Beach to name a few.

The Jungalow would definitely be our first choice to stay in the future!

We had an excellent 9 day stay at this property just south of Hilo. The house was like new and the property was very well maintained. The setting of the property made it feel like your own private oasis in the jungle.

The owners gave us a list of things to see and do and we were not disappointed in any of them. From the Sunday market in Pahoa to Wednesday evening at Uncle Roberts in Kalapana, there was plenty to see and do.

I highly recommend staying at this property. You will be pleased with the privacy and accommodations that this property has to offer.

No need to look any further for a place to stay.

The Jungalow was just perfect for the two of us. We couldn't have asked for anything more. The house was spotless and easy to clean as we were staying for three weeks.

Everything you will need is provided: incredibly well stocked kitchen, towels, linens, and a washer and dryer which we needed during our stay.

We loved sitting on the lanai in the mornings drinking our brew with Henry the gecko joining us on the small glass table.

The Jungalow is centrally located in a quiet residential neighborhood. (There are no street lights.) You will need a car (we hired ours through Costco with a considerable saving) as Hilo is 20 minutes drive away, Pahoa 10 minutes, and Volcanoes National Park about 45 minutes. The house is minutes from the ocean and volcanic cliffs.

For the best prices, we recommend shopping at Target for your staples, Safeway for gas, and the local farmers markets for fruit and veggies.

The owner Deb will give you a lot more further information about the Jungalow and surrounding areas when you book. This we found extremely useful.

We are so glad we found this place and we are already starting to plan our next visit. We just hope the Jungalow will be available.
