A combination of luxury with a taste of the Dominican Life

We really enjoyed our stay at Vista Mare. A most peaceful and exotic holiday away from it all. The site is impressive: well maintained, outstanding location, very safe, pleasant and helpful staff, great facilities, etc... The apartment was also great. We suggested adding a DVD player with a few movies since cable TV was not operational when we were there. This is not a place to travel by car at night, so evenings were occupied with Internet films & TV series and reading. Balcony is huge and private. We were the only occupants in our building during our stay. Vista Mare is not overcrowded with tourists. Our greatest challenge was groceries; it took us a week to realize that decent shopping can be found at Lino's supermarket in Las Terrenas, 75 minutes away. Also, not only is a car a necessity but we recommend a SUV as the road along side Samana Bay is not in good condition. We adored Las Galeras and having a croissant at La Marseillaise. All in all, this destination will give you a combination of luxury with a taste of the Dominican Life. The people are most welcoming and nice. The nature is very rich and luxuriant. We will be back.

Warnung an alle zukuenftigen "Gaeste"

Dieses Apartment entspricht absolut nicht der Wirklichkeit wie man es auf den Bildern sieht. Es stank stark nach Urin bei Eintritt. Die Moebel sind abgenutzt und es riecht nach starkem Moder in den Kuechenschraenken. Das Apartment befindet sich in einer Resortanlage (XEliter Vista Mare). Wir bezahlten im Vorfeld und zogen nach 1 Tag aus. Die Besitzerin hat absolut nichts getan um zu helfen oder uns eine Erstattung gegeben. Ich kann nur alle davor warnen, und nicht dieses Apartment zu buchen. Ich werde auf anderen sozialen Seiten Bilder zeigen, wie es wirklich in diesem Apartment aussieht.

Stunning location and nowhere better if you are wanting to see humpback whales

The property was overlooking Samana Bay , which is beautiful. The apartment itself was all that we needed, clean and comfortable although a couple of the chairs and a sun lounger were needing to be replaced really. But useable. The staff that work in the hotel could not have been lovelier or more helpful and I am already talking about a repeat trip next year.

Très belle vue, bel appartement. Beautiful view, nice apartment.

Très bel emplacement. Bel appartement avec un grand balcon. Lit confortable. Grande douche. Petite cuisine américaine (ouverte sur le salon) bien pratique et bien équipé (vaisselle, coutellerie, mixeur...). L'accès à la plage est un peu complexe (plusieurs marchés) mais bien agréable. L'endroit est calme et reposant. La piscine n'est pas chauffé mais agréable quand même! Nous aurions apprécié une machine à laver et séchante ainsi qu'un lave vaisselle pour des vacances parfaites! Un autre petit détail, pour entrer et sortir de la résidence nous devons porter un bracelet en plastique , nous avons du demander à le mettre plus large afin de pouvoir l'enlever pour dormir etc... Nous gardons un très bon souvenir et recommandons vivement cet appartement. Un dernier détail! Si on est habitué à certains produits et ou courses au supermarché, nous conseillons de le faire à Santo Domingo avant d'arriver. Sur place, il n'y a que des petits commerçants, il faut y être habitué!

Absolument Exceptionnel !

C'était absolument fabuleux. La propriétaire n'est pas sur place mais la communication a été instantanée avec tous les détails nécessaires. L’appartement est bien équipé, propre et fonctionnel. L’emplacement est idyllique, la terrasse est immense avec une vue de rêve, génial pour les petits déjeuner. Nous avons vu des dauphins dans la crique !!! Nous en avons profité pour faire des ballades en cheval dans la montagne avec un guide super sympa et une excursion en bateau. Bien évidemment le soleil était u rendez-vous. Merci, on reviendra!

Amazing beaches

Vista Mare is a great spot. The two secluded beaches are pristine and incredible. They can be a little bit unpredictable with waves breaking close in, as they sit in small coves that kind of channel or funnel in te waves, and amplify them a bit. We were fine swimming almost every day we were there, but on rougher days the waves were just too big to swim. Overall I loved swimming in the ocean here, but you always have to keep your eyes on the next wave, since bigger ones can come unexpectedly if you're not watching. If you see it though, just dive under it. Our kids who aren't strong swimmers had to be with us to watch for bigger waves. Even though re swimming is a little tricky, these two beaches are natural and clean and absolutely gorgeous. The xeliter resort service, which is like a third-party resort service company, has a security guard who operates the gate, a main office that does maintenance and room service calls, and a restaurant and a little shop for water, shampoo, beer, toothbrushes, chips and salsa, cigars, rum, and little random grocery items. The shop is overpriced for some things, but decently priced for others. The swimming pools are really nice. The restaurant is a little more expensive than comparable restaurants outside vista mare, but not by much. The food at the restaurant is actually really delicious, and they have some gourmet versions of local favorites. The service office is just so-so. We had a broken tv and room phone, and asked them to send a maintenance guy several times, and no one ever came. The girls who work behind the desk there are friendly, but seem to be on island time and don't really work hard for you if you ask, and most of them speak very poor English. Overall, amazing spot, really nice comport able apartment. There are mango trees all over the grounds with mangos falling out of the sky. Coconuts on the beach, where usually there are a couple guys cutting them open for 50 cents (US) a piece. The surrounding areas, Los Cacaos, Samana and Las Galeras, are a quick taxi ($10-$20 US)or bus (GuaGua $2 US) ride away. We spent most of our excursions eating at great restaurants and making further excursions from the town of Las Galeras. It's a great little town, lots of ex-pat Europeans who run excellent restaurants and bakeries. Stay at vista mare and you won't regret it!

Superbe location!

Magnifique appartement avec une vue imprenable! Propreté, calme, personnel au petit soin! 2 piscines avec transat, vue , 1 avec cascade et jacuzzi! 2 magnifiques plages propre à la résidence désertique pour notre part (du 18 juillet-23 juillet). Nous avons voyagé pendant 16 jours en RD, la péninsule de Samana va rester la plus attirante! Plages, végétations, n'hésitez pas à vous rendre à Las Terrenas, Las Galeras! Les Dominicains y sont très acceuillant!

Amazing getaway

We loved our stay at Vista Mare. There are quirky bits about it, which were enhanced for our visit in the off-season (late November-early December.) We basically had the whole place to ourselves. The guards are armed which surprised us, but the staff is incredibly helpful and friendly. One of the staff members climbed a tree, picked us a couple of coconuts, and expertly used his machete to turn them into beverages, and then snacks. There are two beaches. One of which we had to ourselves every single day! There is a small bay that is great for swimming, and if you swim out past the rocks, you get the most spectacular view of the sunset. The apartment is comfortable, and the balcony is unbelievable! The kitchen had just about everything we needed to cook most of our meals. The blender was well used!! So many delicious fruit smoothies. If you are staying at Vista Mare, you'll really want to have a car. It's not a destination for backpackers. Water is super easy to come by; buy it in 5 gallon jugs just about anywhere along side the road. Galeras is really worth a visit if you make it to this part of the DR. It's an adorable town at the end of the road which more liveliness than Vista Mare but less chaos than Samana.

Vacances inoubliables en famille

Avec mon épouse et mon fils nous avons pris un repos bien mérité. Nous avons pu faire du cheval dans un centre equestre, visiter les grottes tainos et des plages désertes en barques E T Surtout vue les baleines ce qui a enchanté notre fils surtout lorsqu il a pu en voir de la terrasse de l'appartemnt Je vous conseille aussi d'aller a pied voir le coucher de solel a Punta Balandro C est un lieu ou les baleines se reunissent avec leur baleineaux en fin de journée ET C EST PARFOIS LE FESTIVAL DE SAUTS L appartement est confortable et très beau. il y a tant de choses a vivre que nous aimerions y retourner

Wonderful stay in a beautiful area

Samana is just an incredible place to stay, romantic, calm and at the same time very lively with all these typical villages and people dancing bachata! The apartment is great, with an amazing view on the bay. Full cumfort is provided and you feel at home. It is ideal to have both the privacy and convenience of your own apartment and yet the service provided by the hotel-type residence. The owner was very helpful with the preparation of our trip, giving us clear guidance and touristic information. We had a great time here and we would definitely recommend it!

A refaire !

Une vue magnifique, un cadre paradisiaque, l’accueil est parfait, la décoration intérieure est très agréable, à la fois dynamique et reposante, tout est fait afin que l'on s'y sente bien.. Malheureusement un séjour beaucoup trop court !!! Nous reviendrons !
