Beautiful home on the lake

We had an amazing stay at this VRBO. The location was superb, just a short walk to town and right on the lake. The host and property manager were great and easy to communicate with. And the house itself was spectacular and had everything we needed. I highly recommend this place!

One of the most well-equipped of all the properties we've ever stayed at. Perfect for we 4 "older" couples, sitting on a beautiful, lakeside view lot w/ plenty of sun. Concierge was gracious & available, owner even made herself a backup contact! Highly recommend, best suited to larger group rather than just a couple!

Ideal location + beautiful property

Our stay here was incredible! such a nice quiet spot and the property is so incredible that we barely had to leave. A nice close walk to the town for coffee, ice cream + the market! Such a great house for large groups!

Exceeded expectations

We are a group of friends that travel to different areas so this was a real treat being on the water. Loved the deck, bbq area and gardens. Beautifully taken care of. Host was easy to connect with and accommodating.

Beautiful lake-side property

The location of this property is superb, right on Lake Okanagan, and close to attractions in the region. The property has lots of outdoor spaces that were perfect for all of us: the younger members could play soccer and generally run around, the rest of us could make use of the sports equipment or just relax with a glass of wine watching the sunset over the lake. A wonderful place for a three generation family reunion.

Dream lakefront property

This property was as advertised and exceeded our expectations. We were a group of 5 Ladies that get together once a year. The house was more than what we needed, beds very comfortable plenty of bathrooms. We were able to relax, walk to “town” see a couple of vineyards and wind down. Highly recommend staying and would love to return.

The Hollyhock House was everything we imagined and more.

Our family had the pleasure of staying at the Hollyhock House for our son's wedding. It was perfect, easily accommodating thirteen adults, including our brother and his two sons in the guesthouse. The layout is brilliant, allowing for each of us privacy when needed and space to gather and celebrate often. To Cathy thank you for welcoming us to your amazing property. We hope to return again.

Family Summer Vacation

Myself and my family (total of 13 people) have been looking for the right place in the Okanagan for three years to have our summer vacation. This property met all of our requirements. It’s close to the wineries, so you can enjoy one or two wine tastings per day and make it home safe, no need to go to 10 different wineries and have a DD or hire a driver to get you back to Penticton or another area town. It’s on the beach, we didn’t need to pack up the entire family every day and go to one of the public beaches. The kitchen and outdoor kitchen are perfect if you like cooking. Honestly, everything about the place was amazing. We have already booked our trip here for next summer.

So beautiful, relaxing, spacious

We've rented this house several times now. This time, with a different group of friends and everybody loved it. It has all the characteristics you want in a summer lake vacation... Spacious, beautiful, relaxing. The lake was warm enough to swim this time and provided for hours of fun for kids and adults. It feels like our second home!

Perfect location, size, amenities

Weather wasn't great for us this year, but we still enjoyed and loved our stay at the Hollyhock House. With so many bedrooms, bathrooms, and lounge space, it accommodated our large group (with young kids) perfectly. Kitchen is fully equipped for entertaining, which makes it easy to cook and dine at the house. The grass is lush and beautiful, the sunset view was gorgeous, access to wineries is great, and ability to go out kayaking or paddleboarding on the lake is so wonderful. Would love to return next year!

incredible property

7 people stayed here for a corporate retreat, and it was a stunning property. comfortable rooms, lots of bathrooms, everything first class. we were able to host meetings in the main living room, swim, use the hot tub, and have a private chef cook an incredible dinner in the kitchen - all in ease and comfort. very private property but walkable to naramata and close drive to sights, wineries and restaurants - property manager was pleasant and responsive and the house is stocked with all the basic supplies, generous luxurious towels and everything you could think of for a wonderful stay. thanks for having us!

Wonderful Hollyhock house

We just returned from a wonderful week with a group of 14 of our high school friends celebrating a milestone birthday. Hollyhock home couldn’t have been a better location to meet and spend our time together. We enjoyed exploring the Naramta area, the many wineries, markets, and then happily returned to Hollyhock to enjoy the beach, many decks, hot tub and the beautiful home. The home was well stocked for many extras, it was immaculate and the property manager was delightful and very friendly and helpful. We hope to return again in the near future.

Awesome, unique lakeside house for a big group

Such a great place to spend time with friends or family! We are repeat renters as it's a perfect house in the perfect place. Lots of space for a few families, and a few common areas both inside and outside to enjoy time as a group or sit quietly with a book while catching glimpses of the lake or a rain storm on the other side. Lots of green area for kids to play or for adults to do an outdoor yoga session. Kids love the coach house out back for some private 'kids only" play area. Kitchen is well stocked and the outdoor kitchen provides another option for cooking for your group. Tons of wineries nearby to do a little afternoon tasting. My friends are already asking me to book it again for next year.

Fantastic Naramata Beachfront Home

Our group of 6 couples was extremely happy with this fabulous home! There was so much to do at the property and close by. The lake front location was amazing with a really nice sandy beach and we loved having access to the paddleboards and kayaks. There was a nice big flat lawn perfect for bocce ball and there was also a putting green. The house itself was perfect for a large group with different sitting areas and nice big tables inside and out for group dinners. The bedrooms had really comfortable king size beds and there was an abundance of bathrooms. The Naramata location was unbeatable. We had some fabulous bike rides in the hills and around the various lakes. So many wineries to visit and all very close by. Walking out the door and just down the street is the Naramata Inn where we enjoyed a really delicious dinner. Everyone in our group really enjoyed our visit and we would love to come back again! Also Kathy was very attentive and responded very quickly to any queries.

Naramata Lake House

This is our 2nd visit in a row in two years, at Hollyhock & it is EXACTLY as the photos online appear. The property location (lakefront) is breathtaking & all the Lawn/Water Toys keep you busy. Fabulous home for 5-6 couples with plenty of washrooms to accommodate a large group. Modern and impeccably clean home. Thank you Kathy for making our stay so lovely - just like being at home - very well equipped kitchen. Backyard deck space unreal for morning coffee in the sunshine or an evening barbecuing/entertaining. Cheers!!

We have done a lot of VRBO’s. By far this was the best one we have gone too! Beautiful home !

The host was easy to communicate and very helpful! This home felt warm cozy and family oriented! They had everything you could possibly need in a home plus more! It was extremely clean and extremely organized! Our family really enjoyed their stay! We also loved the history of the home! We will definitely be back! Thank you!

My brother Steve built Hollyhock as a retirement home for our parents Dianne and George Tidball. Our mother came to Naramata from Shanghai during World War 11 and our grandmother bought lakefront property while our grandfather was interned in a Japanese prisoner of war camp. Following the war my grandfather returned to Shanghai in charge of the Far East Division of Unilever. After the Communist takeover my grandparents and mother returned to Naramata and built the holiday resort Sandy Beach Lodge -- three doors down the beach. My parents met at Penticton High.

Later on my parents and three children moved to Boston while our Dad studied and graduated from Harvard as a Baker Scholar. We always returned to Naramata every summer and stayed upstairs at Sandy Beach Lodge. When back in Canada in the 1960s my mother urged my Dad to get a McDonald's franchise and he did--for Western Canada!
Later my Dad started the Keg Restaurant chain and helped my mother build Thunderbird Show Park. My sister Jane still manages Thunderbird Show Park and invites show jumpers from around the world to our World Cup competitions. My sister Laura competed in two Olympic show jumping competitions and now trains competitors.

As the oldest sibling Kathy I manage Hollyhock while helping run our family pasture raised poultry farm.
