The house has everything you need to have a great vacations.

Since ancient times the Maya civilization named CHUKUM the wild tree called "Havardia albicans" which is a legume that currently occupies the entire Yucatan Peninsula, and is a semi-hard and spiny wood tree, which is also used for dyeing textiles, tanning skins and from whose bark the tannins that give color to our finishes are extracted.
This natural paint makes the pool have a very peculiar color, a turquoise green color.

Great beach house

We stayed here 2 weeks, the house is great, the beach is fantastic, we had a great time. I worked most days, the internet connection was super good and reliable. AC in all bedrooms. The location is great to use as a base to explore Yucatán, and the restaurants in Progreso are good. The owner/host is very responsive and nice! We had a great time all around. Would definitely recommend it.

This wonderful place is a dream!

Three things makes this the most wonderful VRBO rental ever: an incredible location, a fabulous house, and the best host we've ever had. It's like going to your best friends house that you've always thought was the greatest AND having your best friend at your beck and call to help with whatever you need. If you are looking for an ocean holiday free from the crowds of Cancun but still close to great restaurants and long beach walks, this is the place. Our host Francisco was tireless in offering help, advice, suggestions, and making us feel totally at home!

The property itself is stellar. Beachfront. The house has great bones. It is however showing some age due to salt air and paint splatters.We had a lot of plumbing problems beyond anyones control, but the communication with Francisco was quick and easy, and he did a great job getting plumbers there with a new hot water heater even late at night.There are a few creature comforts that could be brought in to elevate the property beyond the advertised "minimalist" level. There was constructtion next door, but really didnt cause a problem.The smell of sea lavender was intoxicating, and daily visits by hummingbirds and orioles was awesome. The sounds of the ocean are right there, and create a great backdrop to an otherwise quiet and serene experience.

Girls getaway

Old friends came for a few days to relax. Storm had hit the beach just before our arrival so the beach was not ideal but we swam & used kayaks on the flat Gulf water. Host was great re: communication & hospitality. Great area for sunsets & birdwatching. Nothing really within walking distance ; kitchen & grill were perfect for preparing our own meals. Swimming pool wonderful. Xcambo is close by for a visit to see Mayan ruins. Flamingos were abundant on the salt flats. Telchac & Progresso are about 30minutes drive for restaurants. Newly opened grocery store called MyMarket very close for most of what you need.

50th Wedding Anniversary

We celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary in the perfect place and with our family. The house is wonderful for a family. The adult couples each had their own private bathroom. The two grands had their own room and shared a bathroom. The view was gorgeous from the upstairs balconies to the porch which extends to the pool. The furniture was comfortable with a beautiful dinning room table. The kitchen was filled with plenty of dishes and cookware for our family meals. The Host was wonderful in presenting us with a delicious cake for our anniversary as well as a nice supply of fresh fruit. The refrigerator is equipped with a connection to 5 gallon jugs of water so you don’t have to worry about getting small bottles to carry everywhere. You do need a car for this area but many sites are an easy drive. I highly recommend the area and this Host and his Vrbo

Wonderful Location for Relaxation!

We had the best time relaxing by the ocean in a wonderful home! Spacious house with absolutely everything that you may need. Kitchen was really well appointed, with plenty of plates, cups, silverware and utensils, which is not always the case in rental homes. Beach towels were provided and were large and thick, which we appreciated. Loved sitting on the porch watching the ocean, and wonderful sunsets! Water was warm, and beach felt very safe and private. Sandy bottom and no strong tides. AC worked great, so we were very comfortable in the heat. We also ate at the restaurant 1km down the road, which had great food and also great service! It was not far to drive into Progreso to pick up supplies at the supermarket, or to eat out. Francisco and Ivette were wonderful hosts - extremely responsive to any questions or issues we had. They made our stay extra pleasant - we would definitely stay here again in the future.

A perfect vacation!

December in the Yucatan

We spent December in the beach house and had a wonderful time! The setting is awesome, sitting on the lanai and listening to the waves is very peaceful. There is nearly always a nice breeze off the water and the temperatures were nearly perfect. The location is great. It is out of the hustle and bustle of town but 20 minutes to Progreso which has nearly anything you need. Merida is an hour's drive and many cenotes and ruins are within a two hours. Francisco (host) was very responsive to all questions and addressed concerns immediately.

Beautiful, Peaceful Beach House

3 generations of our family spent Christmas vacation in this beautiful, well equipped home right on the ocean! Francisco was a wonderful host, responding quickly to our requests for extra bankets and towels, and was attentive to all of our needs. We were especially grateful for the groceries that he provided on our arrival, saving us the bother of having to look for a store on the first evening of our arrival. The setting was very quiet and peaceful and we had long stretches of beach to ourselves for most of the 2 weeks that we were there. A recently enlarged swimming pool right off the back deck provided refreshing dips and was much appreciated by our 6 year old twins. Mayan ruins, nature tours and small towns and villages nearby provide interesting opportunities to learn more about this part of the world. We would strongly recommend this home for a laid back vacation in a comfortable , quiet setting where you are constantly lulled by the sound of the ocean waves in your back yard.

A little piece of paradise

We had the pleasure of staying at Francisco’s and Ivette’s lovely home for February and March in 2019. It is warm and inviting and the art work is inspiring. The house is situated on the beautiful emerald coast about 25 minutes from Progreso. Their home has everything you will need to relax and enjoy the nature that surrounds you. It is well equipped for cooking and we all discovered how much better food tastes on a charcoal grill! The 2 master bedrooms have wonderful views of the ocean and the beach and also have their own bathroom which is a real bonus for a visiting family member. All the bedrooms are spacious with lots of cupboards. The only thing we had to adjust to was the double bed. Our dog and cat enjoyed their stay. Both spent time on the beach relaxing, walking and swimming on the beach We never had to use the air conditioning because there was always a cross breeze even at night so the screens made it very pleasant to sleep and listen to the waves as they lulled you to sleep. When the wind was a bit strong in the front we could sit in the back room that was some what enclosed but had a great view of the ocean when you opened the side door. It was also a great area to smoke and BQ. If there was any issue Francisco was quick to respond and it was solved immediately. There is seaweed on the beach at times it can be a lot however there are 2 rakes that we used to clean the area if it needed it. This something that can not be controlled and some years are worse than others. The water was a good temperature to swim and the water did change frequently. Some days were very calm, other days with waves. The bottom is sand and the water is shallow. The beach does have shells so if you have sensitive feet wear water shoes. We had a wonderful time at their home and family member that visited enjoyed their stay too! We plan to return in 2020. Thank you Ivette and Francisco for sharing your home with us.

Fabulous family vacation !

My daughter, best friend, husband and little daughter spent 11 fantastic days at Chicxulub in Francisco’s house. The house is spacious, with 4 large bedrooms, 4 complete bathrooms, fully equipped kitchen, terrace and pool. The house sits right on the beach as well making it very easy to go swimming with the kids. The house was impeccably clean when we arrived. Our hoss also left us some basic groceries and beverages as well as games for the kids. Everything worked perfectly: air conditions, water pressure, appliances. It was just like being at home ! The house is located between Progreso and Telchac Puerto, making it an easy car ride to go eat out or shop for souvenirs. It’s also located at 1 km for the entrance or a natural fauna and flora reserve. I love trekking so I went walking in the park on the very well kept trail for a couple of hours every morning at sunrise and it was magical as there were BYK dress of birds, including pink flamingos! I would warmly recommend this rental for a family holiday in Yucatan. We will certainly be back !

Progreso, Chicxulub & Merida city at hand

It´s privileged four bedroom property right by the sea, with a nice terrace. Absolutely well maintained and fully equipped in order to have a pleasant stay. The owner provided tips on where to get food and provisions and places to visit. It is convenient to rent a car, a nearby pyramid Maya town site is available, lots of beach to walk and run; a small pool to refresh from salty water not too chilly in this time of the year. There is a lagoon with a sightseeing posts and a tour into the jungle, at a short distance by car there is a hotel where to have dinner or any meal and also a visit to Progreso´s old port, it´s Pier and lighthouse is recommended. The car can be returned at Merida´s airport, which is a 40 minute drive, consider that such a short distance allows you to visit several places in Merida or other towns driving through very safe roads.

Secluded, spacious and comfortable!

Thanks for everything! We had a fantastic stay at the San Benito House. It met all of our expectations and we had one of the best holidays ever. The house is really comfortable and the location is unbelievable. It is literally 20 steps to the ocean. The beds were comfortable, the bathrooms were modern and clean, the kitchen was perfectly functional. The pool was small but fine for little kids (although quite deep). The only suggestions for improvement that we have are: - The floor is very slippery when wet from the pool. A bit of a risk with kids in and out of there all day. - It would be good to add a mosquito door in to the lounge/dining area. - There is no banister going down from the terrace to the beach. A bit risky for smaller kids. - It would be great to add some hooks for the hammocks on the terrace downstairs. None of these factors affected our enjoyment of the house but we thought they would be valuable suggestions for improvement. Thanks again for a wonderful stay. Steve

Dream vacation in San Benito

My husband and I and another couple stayed at Francisco's house from February 13 to April 9 2017 and we had a wonderful time. First, we received a warm welcome from Francisco who delivered the car in Merida and a nice bottle of wine was waiting for us in the fridge. The house was beyond our expectations, , beautifully decorated well furnished, and extremely comfortable for the four of us. The house has a well equipped kitchen making cooking easy. The living/dining room opens to the ocean and the view is breathtaking. The area is safe, quiet and well patroled by local police. As an added bonus, the internet is fiber optics/fast. The pool was always impeccably cleaned and water supply abundant. Francisco and Ivette are the perfect hosts, if any problem is raised, a quick solution is found. The house is a 15-minute drive to either Chixchulub Puerto or Telchac Puerto to get groceries. We are definitely going back. If we could, we would give six stars!!!

We stayed at Franciscos house for 20 days and Everything about this place was absolutely wonderful ! He provides you with everything in the house you would EVER need. Check-in was super easy and all directions were clear . It felt so relaxing and private and the view was to die for. I would and will highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for an amazing place to spend a quiet and beautiful vacation. Francisco is truly one of a kind host ! Warm and always available to answer any questions or concerns . Whenever we travel we try to rent a house rather then a hotel and it's always hard to get a hold of the owners.. Francisco was the one checking in to make sure everything was running smoothly.. how amazing is that ! Thankful for people like him that make traveling such a breeze.

Amazing home!

I would first like to start off by thanking Francisco and his entire family. My trip was made all that much better by having them, they were helpful beyond belief anything I needed or any questions I had were answered immediately. As far as the house goes you seriously couldn't ask for a better place to stay the house was clean, well located, and very well equipped and updated. Wonderful stay - very comfortable

We were looking to stay at a beach house for a few days and found Francisco's home. We wanted to take a look at the home before we rented it and Francisco had no problem driving almost an hour to the home so that we could see it. We had just moved to Merida from the US so we had lots of questions about everything and Francisco was kind enough to speak with us for almost an hour which was very kind of him. The house was really airy and clean. Coming from NY we like our accomodations to be clean and modern and this house fit the bill with modern amenities. Everything was available to us that we didn't really feel like we were missing anything and Francisco even left us a pie and some snacks which was very generous. Thank you for such a wonderful stay!

San Benito beach home that delivers all it promises!

It is with our sincerest appreciation that we thank Francisco and Ivette for allowing us the opportunity to rent their home in May of 2015. The house was spectacular - Open and airy, clean and modern. The floor plan allows for the breeze off the water to flow through the home, the sound of the waves are relaxing and the beach was a few steps away. We started each morning with a walk up and down the beach, and watched the sunsets over the water. Progresso was just a short distance away, and we popped over there a number of time for food and market. The house was well stocked with all the essentials that one needs - and a special thank you for the hairdryer (special request) and fresh fruit that was provided upon our arrival. The bedrooms were spacious and the A/C was a great way to sleep to rest up for the next day. Overall, we were more impressed with each day we stayed, and were mighty sad to have to say goodbye to this gem of a house. Loved San Benito and are now considering the area as a retirement location. If you have a chance, don't miss renting the house - it is a trip that will provide great memories for you! Heidi and Chris

Best landlords, relaxing vacation!

What a beautiful house and area! Francisco and his wife are the perfect hosts in the this brand new house. Any little hiccups were dealt with immediately (ie I ran out out of Internet, he had a guy come out at 9pm to fix it!). Welcomed with a bunch of baby bananas, a half dozen mangoes and the biggest papaya I've ever seen, I felt right at home. Francisco took me to the grocery store and made sure I knew about all the interesting things to do in the area. It was a little windy at night, but calm enough in the morning that I got out kayaking every day and usually followed that up with either a.) a nap b.) a glass of good tequila to sip while watching the waves, or c.) a nice long walk on the beach to collect way too many beautiful shells. A lovely house in a perfect location, an easy drive from Merida, and a little space around it, unlike many of the houses along this beach. I will miss falling asleep to the sound of the surf tonight!

Wonderful house

New. Spotlessly clean. Good A/C and ceiling fans. Hot water and bottled water provided plus fully equipped kitchen. Plunge pool.Right on the beach. Cooling breezes. Water shallow and warm. Soft sandy beach. Francisco and Ivette could not have been nicer. Led us to the house at the time of our choosing. Had fresh fruit waiting and gave us a parting gift!!! Would return in a heartbeat.
