Escape to a spacious 4 bdrm/4 bath home on a secluded natural beach minutes from Monterey & Carmel. Spy on bottlenose porpoises from your window as they frolic in the surf and watch the Brown Pelicans swoop over wave tops collecting their dinner. Enjoy whale-watching, kayak amongst the otters and sea lions in the Elkhorn Slough, and grab the binoculars to bird at the Audubon sanctuary at the end of the beach.
Head into the quaint fishing village of Moss Landing, home to world-renowned marine biology research institutes and great antiquing. Don't forget to bring a pot - Phil's Fish Market (winner of Bobby Flay's 'Throwdown') will fill it with their famous Cioppino to take back and enjoy as the sun sets over the Pacific. Grab a loaf of sourdough, steam some artichokes from one of the local roadside produce stands and open a bottle of Chardonnay or Pinot Noir you picked up at your visit to one of the many renowned Central Coast wineries and vineyards in the area. (Ventana, J. Lohr, Wente, Bernadus to name just a few!).
Movie by the fire, a trip to the clubhouse for a relaxing whirlpool or maybe just a soak for two in the deep tub in the master bath? Afterwards, slip into your big comfy bed and let the sound of the waves carry you off to sweet dreams.
You're well-rested for your early morning tee time at nearby Pebble Beach or one of the other amazing golf courses nearby. While your foursome heads off, the rest of the crew are playing tennis, bocce ball and shooting some hoops at the clubhouse.
Afterwards, they will meet you for a drive down the coast to Point Lobos and Big Sur. A late lunch or early dinner at cliff-top restaurant Nepenthe provides the most breathtaking ocean views you have ever seen.
Remember that you've promised to take the family to the world-renowned Monterey Bay Aquarium. The kids want to head to the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk as well to ride the enormous wooden roller coaster, pick up a game of beach volleyball and dance in the sand at the free spring break Battle of the Bands or one of the summer Friday evening concerts.
The family has reconnected and you haven't played this much in a long time. You have captured the serenity that comes with the relaxed life of the California Central Coast and really you don't want to go home. You know you have now found your spot to retreat and recharge, and like the others before you, you are already planning your next trip back.
