Custom made home, surrounded by open spaces, sleeps 6
Features of this custom built home:
Breathtaking view of both Mt. Agassi and Mt. Humphreys. Feel like you can 'touch the peaks' from two living/family rooms with 'walls of glass' facing the mountains. All the bedrooms have the same view. You can gaze out and say, 'I was up there today, and it was awesome.'
South facing clear story windows and vaulted ceilings make for a cheerful, well lighted home year round. Passive solar design means quicker warm-up on winter mornings especially if using the propane central heating and/or the wood stove. Sitting around the free standing cast iron stove is always warming, and watching the flames through the glass in the doors really sets the mood.
The house is located at the upper reaches of a very large meadow, not quite in the pines. The sweeping view down to the highway and turnoff to go up the mountain is always captivating whether prairie grass or covered in snow. Note: skiers and hikers, YOU CANNOT STAY CLOSER . Wing Mountain snow play area is three miles west on the highway (180), and the south rim of the Grand Canyon is about fifty miles further. Downtown Flagstaff is about twelve minutes the other way.
This is a very quiet neighborhood (one road) with very little traffic because it's easier to get further along from another exit off the highway. There are only a few homes on acre plus lots.
You can hear the wind and lots of bird chatter. You may see herds of elk in the meadow and hear them screech at night along with an occasional coyote baying.
Water, straight from the tap, is cold, pure and great tasting. Snow melt filters through cinders from lava from the eruption back in the day. Our well goes down 150 feet to where sweet water has collected in an aquifer. Yum, take some home with you.
Walk to the pond you can see in the meadow about 1/4 mile away. It is the headwaters of the Rio de Flag and a wetlands area. Snowshoe or cross country ski the giant meadow right off the front porch. Hike out into the neighboring national forest or ride bikes for miles without going near the highway.
Order take-out (or eat in) from the Ski Lift lodge, two minutes away. They serve breakfast and good wings, pizzas, and sandwiches. They have a bar.
The front deck of our house is to take coffee on with the morning sun. The back deck, with the mountain views and spectacular sunsets, calls for a libation or two.

About Ginnie Moore
We have been renting out our house in Beaufort, S.C. for 10 years as a vacation rental as well as a condo in Ventana Canyon, Tucson, AZ we bought 6 years ago. We love the positive feedback we get from guests and we enjoy spending time there ourselves.
Ginnie Moore purchased this House in 1985
Why Ginnie Moore chose Fort Valley Estates
We bought the property in 1983, built a smaller house two years later, then did a major addition in 2008. We like being a few miles out of town with the quiet and more isolated feel that affords. Did I mention the views?
What makes this House unique
Very close to snow use or hiking areas. The restaurant and bar, Ski Lift Lodge, is only a mile away.

Beautiful location and home
We absolutely loved our stay here! The home is very well equipped with everything you need and beautifully appointed. The owners even decorated for Christmas, making it feel very warm and welcoming. The views are amazing and it is in a great location. I couldn't recommend this more! Thank you
Beautiful home with comforts of home
The house was easy to get to and find. The house was beautiful and comfortable. The porch areas out back were great, and we especially loved the huge windows in the living room. The house had everything we needed to make meals, and it felt like we were at home. We can tell the owners love their home and have had many wonderful memories there, and we appreciate them allowing others to make memories there as well.
great location and nice house
The location is really good. Close to flagstaff for all your grocery and shopping needs. Meanwhile it is remote enough that you can enjoy the tranquility of the countryside. The house is in very good shape with all the necessary amenities.
Homey spot, gorgeous location.
This is a custom vacation home right up near the ski area north of town. The home clearly belongs to the nice couple who rent it out, as opposed to a rental agency or some such. You'll find family pictures up, lots of books, a cute decorating style. The upper floor on the southern section is locked off for private use. Even though the house feels "lived in", we enjoyed our stay and found it served well for the weekend. The beds were a bit soft for my taste. The views were really gorgeous and there were great running trails nearby. There is a hot tub, but it's not in use unfortunately. I think it would comfortably sleep up to three couples.
Very comfortable home and in a great location!!!
Great place! Thanks!
We are located about 7 miles northwest of Flagstaff off of South Snowbowl Road. The Grand Canyon is about 1 1/4 hours drive from our house. The Snowbowl ski area is about a 20 minute drive up the mountain from our house.
