Wonderful Quiet Country Cabin

  • 5 of 5

We love the Lakes Basin area and have stayed at a number of cabins, none of which was quite right. This year, we tried the Cromberg Cabin and it was ideal. Super-quiet and set off the road by itself. The owners, Jim and Jodie, really thought of everything guests might need -- including toothpicks! Very spacious and comfortable. Close to Graegle and the gorgeous lakes and wonderful hiking in the Lakes Basin Recreation Area. I'm often disappointed when vacation rentals don't live up to the hype. The Cromberg Cabin was the rare find, where the cabin in reality was much nicer than the description.

Very clean, quiet and convenient!

  • 5 of 5

We certainly enjoyed the quiet and listening to the river across the way flow. The home is very clean with everything you need to relax and enjoy the mountain air. Graeagle and Quincy restaurants nearby to enjoy!! Not a golfer but plenty in the area to enjoy! Highly recommend!!!

Cozy, comfortable, well-located, cabin in the woods

  • 5 of 5

Four of us (three adults, one dog) stayed at the Little Cabin in the Woods in late December/early January and we were delighted with our lodgings. At that cold, dark time of year the cabin's central propane heater, baseboard heaters, and extra blankets kept us plenty warm, and the holiday and year-round decor was cheery and charming. The cozy space is well-designed and extremely clean. This cabin had every amenity we could have asked for (and then some), including fast, reliable Wifi, a great TV, games, local guides, full kitchen appliances and supplies, etc... Our cell phones didn't work at this location, but the Wifi allowed us to Skype when we needed to make calls. The owners allow visitors to use their landline to make local calls and receive outside calls., and the latter turned out to be very handy for us. And, the phone is one of the best decorative elements in the cabin - it's shaped like a locomotive engine. We all want one now.

This cabin is a short walk from the local post office and small store, and a short drive from the larger towns of Graeagle and Quincy. A pitch here for the Cromberg post office: we inadvertently left my husband's medications at home, and the postal workers went the extra mile to instruct us in how to get the 'pill package' to Cromberg quickly, then called us promptly (on the train phone!) when they arrived. Five stars to them too.

We were hoping to snowshoe every day we were in this area, and though we managed a little 'shoeing' the low snow conditions made winter sports impractical. Instead, we discovered the fair-weather charms of the Feather River Valley: beautiful hikes, hot springs, breweries, trains, and interesting rocks and faults (we're geologists).

The owners of the Little Cabin in the Woods were generous and easy to communicate with. They are clearly dog lovers (like us), and their cabin is set up to be as welcoming to four-legged as to two-legged occupants. We hope to stay here again.

Perfect escape!

  • 5 of 5

We agree with the other reviewers that this was a wonderful home in which to take a vacation and relax! We had such a wonderful and relaxing time during our Christmas vacation and our dog was just so very happy roaming about outside. The house, as has been noted by other reviewers, was immaculate, and the owners thought of everything to make our stay comfortable. I highly recommend this house to other prospective vacationers who are looking for a nice, quiet, safe getaway!
