Lovely and comfortable dog friendly cabin

  • 5 of 5

We recently had a great 5 night stay and were totally happy with everything. The cabin was clean, comfortable and well appointed. They've done nice things with the yard. The location is quiet and private. It was as advertised, though was actually a bit larger than we anticipated. Having the washer and dryer was a bonus. And the outdoor propane BBQ was a real plus. We did not plan to cook a lot on this trip, but found the kitchen had everything we needed. If we were doing more cooking on this trip (we are big cooks), we would have liked to have better knives (just something we are picky about) but the knives were certainly adequate. We didn't use the wi-fi or TV, but always nice to have those options. The reading lights in the living room could be brighter, but they were adequate and the ones in the bedroom were great.

We have frequently used VRBO, and this was another good experience. We often travel with our dog, and this cabin felt particularly pet welcoming. Reba was very happy. : ) We didn't have any difficulties during our stay, but felt certain that Jim and Jodie would be responsive if we needed anything. And as it turned out, I lost an earring while there and we also left our tablecloth behind. Jodie found the earring (!!) and shipped it back to us along with the table cloth. She was so nice about doing this.

This is a great location with so many choices of things to do close by. We certainly hope to return as there are many places to explore - we would definitely stay at this cabin again. We also appreciated take out food nearby. The BBQ place is just minutes away. We also loved Cuccia's (I think I have that right), only about 10 minutes away. Looked like a great menu, but we just wanted take-out pizza. REALLY good pizza, even though we picked it up 2 hours before we were going to eat and re-heated it in a hot oven.

We were sorry not to see recycling options. We asked around town and learned that the recycling transfer station (easy to find) is only open on weekends. That didn't work for us, so we carried the bulk of our recycling home. Not a big deal, and better than it going to the landfill.

This is a great place!

Great dog friendly cabin

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our two night stay at the Cromberg cabin very much. Everything was as advertised (including the potential odor of the water supply that was noted in the rental agreement). We brought water for drinking and for our morning coffee and it was fine. The cabin was comfortable and spotless. We’ve been staying in VRBO properties since 2009 and Jodie and Jim are the most responsive hosts we’ve ever had. It is obvious from all of the little touches, from the flowers outside to the towel racks in the bathroom and the fishing lure thermometer on the front porch that a lot of thought and care have gone into every detail. The cabin is dog friendly including pet bowls and dog towels. We would highly recommend this cabin for a couple, either alone or with one or two children. Whatever the size of your party, don’t miss the light switch in the second bedroom. We laughed out loud at the ingenious solution to an annoying design problem. Well done! We also appreciated the reading materials in the cabin, particularly the Discovery Trails of Plumas County and the History of Plumas County. We took one of the discovery trails to the Butterfly Valley Botanical Area and it was time well spent. We had a wonderful stay and strongly recommend the cabin. Thank you Jodie and Jim.

  • 5 of 5

What a great stay we had! This cabin is everything listed and more. My husband and I stayed for three days, and could not have been happier. It is so clean, and very comfortable. The owners are simply amazing. They are so nice and so easy to work with! The property is gorgeous, the cabin has all of the amenities one could possibly need. We will absolutely return, no doubt about it. Highly highly recommend!!

Excellent location and perfect cabin for rest and recreation

  • 5 of 5

Overall extremely satisfied with the Cromberg cabin's location, layout and amenities. The rental property was clean and well-maintained and the owners provided excellent service. We would certainly recommend this vacation rental to others. Being in a quiet neighborhood within the woods this property is perfect for hikes, play or just relaxation. All major attractions like the Plumas and Eureka State Park, Lakes basin area, quaint towns like Graegle, Quincy and Portola are within a few miles drive.

Perfect in every way

  • 5 of 5

I've brought my family up to Cromberg since 2003, when my sons were 1 1/2 and 9. I wanted to start a family tradition- going up a snowy mountain and cutting down our own tree, walking the little shops in Graeagle, visiting Santa and riding the train at the Western Pacific Railroad Museum in Portola, and eating pizza and playing air hockey at Gumba's in Blairsden (which unfortunately is now another place with no games- total bummer). It is now 2015, my sons are 13 and 22, and we still go up every year- but found that this year, the cabin we would normally stay at was not available.

Not wanting to ruin tradition by not coming (and definitely not wanting to stay at a hotel/motel), I did a mad scramble search on VRBO and found Jim and Jodie's cabin. What a blessing- it is an amazing little place, all the amenities for when it's cold and snowy outside and you want to watch a Holiday movie (full internet and cable w/ flat screen TV and wifi), totally cozy, comfortable and clean, fully stocked kitchen, fridge, dishwasher. Beautiful scenery around us. Totally fell in love with the place. And of all the places available in the area it was the most affordable, but by no means did it "feel" inexpensive in any way. Additionally, Jim/Jodie were immediately available through email for any questions we had, responding within minutes. Great great hosts.

From this point on, for as long as they are available and continuing to rent it out, this will be our "go to" place for Winter traditions in Cromberg. :)
