I was born and raised here in New Orleans. I am 53 years old, married and a mother of one son that is now 19. My husband is a woodworker and created a lot of the beauty around our home. I am a freelance agency broadcast producer of TV commercials, etc.

Why Owner chose Mid-City
This property just has a great feel. Everyone loves it. It is in a great neighborhood that is very upbeat and fun. It is called Mid-City because it is located between Uptown and Downtown. It is one of the old New Orleans neighborhoods.
What makes this House unique
It puts you in waling distance to the streetcar line where you can get to the French Quarter quickly. From there you can transfer to the Uptown line as well. Close to Jazz Fest, VooDoo Fest and City Park.

Great rental NEAR the Quarter but a world apart
If you are visiting New Orleans to hit the Vieux Carre' and party like it's 1999, you can certainly do so from this large and private, comfortable ground floor apartment. It's minutes away by streetcar and there for the taking. But there is so much about NoLa that's outside the Quarter and this Mid-City neighborhood is a great example. Creole cottages, shotgun doubles, super nice neighbors and a genuine hospitality set this rental as a cut above. Don't let the one way streets surrounding confuse you, you'll get the hang of it--eventually! One of the cities historic above ground cemeteries is literally out the back gate and on a warm night with a moon, it was a cool place to enjoy a cigar and a glass of wine and contemplate whatever needed contemplating. Kathy, her husband and her neighbors are all superfans of the New Orleans Saints and the mini "dome" celebrating the team in the huge backyard was awesome to see, along with separate tables and chair perfect for a morning cuppa. They even made this Seahawks fan feel welcome! Her coffee closet was well stocked but nearby in City Park, a walk or bike ride away is Morning Call, for those wanting a healthy or unhealthy but delicious dose of Chicory java to wash down their beignets. My daughter and I did everything OFF the beaten path this time (even coming down by train from Chicago) and Kathy tipped us off to a couple of great nearby events where we literally felt like locals enjoying the vibrant scene, no other tourists noted! Mid-City has some tremendous food options, post-Katrina store boom and tremendous variety of architecture for both the living and the dead--literally. Highly recommended place to call home for a few days--or more.
We love welcoming guests to our neighborhood. And it is even more fun when they are open to hearing our suggestions of different things to do. Great family. Would love to have them back anytime.
Charming New Orleans apartment
Kathy is a wonderful host with a charming apartment that is quintessential New Orleans. The location is perfect…close to the streetcar stop and all that the city has to offer, yet a quiet neighborhood for a peaceful night's sleep. We would definitely stay here again if we return to New Orleans.
Perfect NOLA stay. Full of character and kitch!
Great location in Midtown. Large downstairs apartment and a huge yard that is dog friendly and very unique. Loved having our own space to relax in.
Great home to experience NOLA
We spent a quick weekend in NOLA for Voodoo Fest 2016, and would have loved to stay longer. The house is well stocked with literally everything you could need. Awesome neighborhood with plenty of local food options. Walked to the festival at City Park, restaurants and the Street Car that takes you downtown. Kathy is a fantastic host, with plenty of recommendations. As a very experienced traveler, this place is a real gem. Highly recommend staying here.
Great place to stay
Kathy was the perfect hostess. So perfect that she even came looking for us when we'd set out walking right before a rainstorm! Loved the apartment. Plenty of space with comfortable furnishings. The location was within walking distance of a number of great restaurants and bars and close to City Park. Also only a block from the Canal/Cemeteries streetcar line. We highly recommend!
Location was perfect! Apartment is wonderfully eclectic, was great just looking at the random collection of stuff. Unit was very clean and quiet, great neighborhood, would stay here again.
Thanks for all your great Katrina information, Kathy!
Besides the French Quarter other places of interest are: City Park, Audubon Park and Zoo, D Day Museum, Swamp Tours, Plantation Tours and going out to hear live music all over the city.
Additional information about rental rates
Location is 2 blocks away from the Canal Streetcar line that will take you to the French Quarter in about 25 minutes. Fare is $1.25 per person. We are also a bike ride away from the New Orleans Jazz Fest. The Streetcar will get you there as well. City Park is walkable where the Voodoo Fest is held. Also the famous cemeteries are right outside of the backyard. We are avid Saints fans and if you visit during those times we do host an incredible outdoor football experience. We have a Basset Hound at the house and would be acceptable to your pet if friendly. This is a great neighborhood with lots of fun local people who love the city and participate in most events. There are 3 bars within walking distance. We can provide bikes if wanted. We love music and art and the house has a great feel of the local culture. We love to travel ourselves and really like being more on the offbeat track. Meeting the locals is what it is all about.
