First, please check out our web page at www.wildasaph.com. Thank you for checking us out we hope we can help you to have a great vacation. This vacation home is year around rental! Please take time to read our reviews and see what others are saying about us. We receive a lot of request and accept a lot of bookings so book early in advance to get your dates locked in. All (3) of our rental properties now have WiFi and Dish TV for those rainy days. We are excited !! Check out www.wildasaph.com to see all our rentals. Don't wait, book now so you get the exact dates you want! You will love sitting out back on our new deck or in the side yard listening to the water run through the creek. What a beautiful property. You won't want to leave! They say it is all about location, location, location. Well, this has just that. This house was built in 1840 and is in the historic part of down town Wellsboro. If only this house could talk and tell us some stories. ( and we are doing some research on that) We hope you make many great memories here as well. I was told that this house at one time, back in the day, was a carriage stop and also at one time a post office. I hope to find out more. You can leave your car parked in the driveway and walk down town. Best of all, 2 doors away is the West End Market Cafe' open Monday - Saturday for breakfast and lunch. Perfect or what?! We have tried to make it as comfy and homey as possible. We will always be making improvements so come back often to see what is new! The yard is awesome for playing games and just hanging out. Bring your outdoor games as the yard across the bridge is huge!! In my opinion this is the most perfect 'in town' guest house in Wellsboro. Our kitchen is beautiful, and well equipped for your "dining in" needs. The dining room is bright and has a table that seats 8 for dining, socializing and games in the evening. There is a beautiful closed in back porch to relax in on rainy nights. A comfortable living room with a smart TV. We also offer WiFi. There is a land line phone with unlimited nationwide calls. We offer a master bedroom on the main floor with a bathroom with shower just off the bedroom and a dressing room/ office. Three other bedrooms upstairs with a bathroom. A very cute front covered porch to sit and enjoy. A spacious side yard with lawn furniture to bask in the sun and a charcoal/ fire pit for your evening hot dog roast. This is a perfect place for couples to gather and spend a weekend together. This is an old house and has a step up to the dining room and step down to the kitchen, living room and foyer etc. The dining room is in the middle of the house so you step up. Just wanted to let you know that in case you have an elderly parent with you that has a hard time with a one step up and down. Old houses were designed this way for whatever reason. I actually love it like this...character all over the place in the old house!! It is spacious enough for 4 couples or just the two of you. We also invite families. We do ask that you keep the children away from the canal. No one is allowed to walk on the wall of the canal. Safety first please! Also, if you are into little league world series we are about 45-1 hour away from Williamsport, PA. I do have a web page as well if you search Wild Asaph Cabin Rentals you will find it. We offer 2 other cabins in the mountains.
NOTE: We are not responsible for any injuries of any kind at any of our properties. You are here at your OWN RISK!
We are Harold and Jane (Roes) Yoder from Lancaster County, PA. This is our 3rd rental property in the Wellsboro area. It has been on my bucket list to have an 'in town' guest house for years. And here it is !!! We hope you enjoy it and feel right at home. We also hope you come back and bring your friends.
Harold and I have 2 sons. Both are married to wonderful ladies. We have 4 grand children whom we adore and love to be with. I (Jane) was born and raised in upstate NY in the small town of Castorland. My husband Harold was raised on a farm in McVaytown PA. We met in ElDorado AR, both working at a nursing home. We were both doing volunteer service. We married in August of 1980. God has blessed us with a great life not exempt from many ups and downs but through it all we can say the Lord Jesus Christ is faithful ! Everything we have is a gift from Him.
Jane Yoder purchased this house in 2015
As I said earlier I have always wanted to have a guest house in the town of Wellsboro. Our other two cabins are 17 miles north west of Wellsboro. They have been excellent rentals for us with many people coming and going constantly. We love our return costumers and hope you become one as well. This property came up for sale and I had my eye on it for the 2 years it was on the market. God's timing is perfect is about all I can say. We thank Him for yet another gift.
This property is a perfect location in many ways. One you all will especially love is that it is only 2 doors down from The West End market Cafe'. In our opinion this guest house is better then staying at a B&B due to the fact that you can have the privacy of your own home and just walk out the front door to the left for breakfast at your own leisure.
What I love most about this house and property is that is has a wonderful stream going through it and the sounds of the stream are awesome. I also love that it is located at the last lantern going out of town...giving it it's name, The Last Lantern Guest House. How perfect. I also love that this guest house could be a place where I could live permanently. I am confident you will feel the same.

This was our second time staying for a girls weekend. The house was perfect for the five of us! We were able to sit and visit and relax with no worries. It is right in town, which made going out for dinner or shopping very convenient. The kitchen was well stocked and the beds were very comfy! I am hoping our next visit can happen in the fall!
The Lantern Guest House was so comfortable and relaxing. It was heavenly and just what i needed. It was beautifully decorated and I had such a great time. Im hoping to get there again when the leaves start to change. Thank you so much for kindness. God Bless You.
The Last Lantern Guest House is a charming and historic house at the edge of the downtown area of Wellsboro. The main streets of Wellsboro have lanterns in the midway islands, hence the "last lantern". If only the floors and walls of this historic home could talk, they would tell stories from the 1840s. The house has all the modern amenities you would expect, without sacrificing the timeless beauty of the house. We appreciated the little extras like nightlights, tissues, and lotion. Also, the kitchen was stocked with a large selection of tableware and cookware and even a few spices. The sidewalks of Wellsboro were perfect for an early morning or after dinner stroll. The "West End Cafe" is only 2 houses away and has a great outdoor seating area for people watching. Beyond that, it is only a 10 minute walk to restaurants, shopping and post office. The Grand Canyon area is beautiful. There is great hiking in the 2 state parks that border the area, and a bike rental place (Pine Creek Outfitters) for biking along the rail/trail. Be sure to see Turkey Falls and hike along the ridge trail.
Comfortable home and a great location! We traveled to Wellesborough on our motorcycles. The owner had no issues with providing linens for us. We were able to park the motorcycles in the driveway off the street. We were able to walk to local destinations including the diner next-door for a great breakfast, several awesome restaurants, diners and shops.
We also enjoyed relaxing at the house using the side yard, sitting around the fire pit and back deck. We didn't need any air-conditioning although it was available. The house was beautifully cool and comfortable .
We had zero complaints. The house, the yard and the location are spectacular.
For motorcycle enthusiasts there are many beautiful roads and routes to take to visit the Pinecreepk Grand Canyon area.
Most especially we liked being able to walk everywhere without getting on the bike after a long day of travel.
LOVED the Last Lastern. The house, the location, all the Character of the town was Wonderful! We loved the deck and actually ate all our meals outside. We brought our own food and the full size kitchen was more than roomy. The decor is Beautiful and all the rooms are comfortable. We walked down and around the center of town and the location is great. We plan on another girls weekend and will be back to stay at the Last Lantern.
Six of us rode the 62-mile bike trail along the Pine Creek and used the Last Lantern as home base. Everyone loved the Lantern! It is a clean, comfortable, homey atmosphere with lots of character in the house itself as well as the decor. Several different seating areas allow for the whole group to be together or to be alone if desired. The beds are very comfortable, the kitchen has everything you need; it's convenient to downtown stores and restaurants, and very accessible to the Pine Creek Trail. On the edge of town, it provides quiet neighborhoods to stroll through in the evenings. This is the ideal location for a summer get-away.
The Last Lantern Guest House is located right in the town of Wellsboro. Staying here gives you the freedom to leave your car in the driveway and walk to many shopping places, crafts stores and restaurants. We highly recommend you walk just 2 doors down and eat breakfast, and lunch at the West End Market Cafe'. The Last Lantern is even better then a B&B as you can have the privacy of your own home and yet have breakfast waiting so close by. There is nothing like taking an evening walk in historic downtown Wellsboro with all it's charm. You will always find your way back home as we are The Last Lantern on the right from the center of town. The Last Lantern is spacious and homey. We hope you enjoy it and come back. Remember we are still in process. March of 2015 is when we purchased The Last Lantern Guest House and my husband has a long "honey do" list.
