Rental period during high season is from Sunday to Sunday.

We did a complete remodeling of the house after some damage by Hurricane Sandy. It is airy, open and comfortable. Our new screened room is large with an outdoor dining table and two conversation seating areas. We also provide outdoor furniture in the back yard. There are plenty of nooks for relaxing, talking or taking a quiet nap with the sun on your face.
We see a lot of birds in this location -- my first sighting of a belted kingfisher was on our dock, mallard ducks have laid eggs in our back shrubs, geese wander around all the neighborhood yards and skitter on the canal when there is a layer of ice. Squadrons of snow geese fly and chatter overhead every winter on their way to the Assateague ponds. Also since we are directly on the water you can catch crabs off of our dock!
Chincoteague is a quaint fishing village on the eastern shore of Virginia reknown for its fresh, quality, seafood, wild horses and pristine beaches. The island is attached by a short bridge to Assateague Island, a federal wildlife refuge and home to the Chincoteague wild ponies -- the well-known setting for the Misty of Chincoteague books. Assateague is also a birders paradise for sightings of resident and migratory birds and water fowl. It is also where the pristine beaches are located - sand and sea only! The historic downtown along Main Street has many restaurants, shops, a movie & live performance theatre, a supermarket, library and a lovely bay-side park where many festivals are held throughout the year. Maddox Boulevard leading to Assateague is another lively commercial stretch with ice cream shops, banks, more restaurants, gift shops, mini-golf courses, bike and scooter rentals etc. We even have a bowling alley and a YMCA on the island. The area waters are great for kayaking or taking a fun guided boat trip. There is a narrated van trip that takes you into the interior of Assateague Island to see the horses and the endangered Delmarva Fox Squirrel habitat -- off limits to drivers except for Thanksgiving weekend. The Chincoteague Museum has a wonderful display of island history including its oyster industry. On Assateague Island there are two visitor centers - one is the federal wildlife center and the other for the national seashore where you can discover interesting facts about local geography, flora and fauna. The Wallops Island NASA base is located on the mainland just before crossing the causeway/bridge to Chincoteague. There is a fun free NASA museum by the base. There are also rocket launches to the International Space Station from this facility.
