Thank you so much for welcoming us to your amazing fall cabin! Our pups didn't want to leave and neither did we! The screened-in porch was wonderful in the morning and afternoons! We will be back!!

JTs Place

This was an amazing home and property. Sitting by the creek and listing to the water run was so peaceful. It's secluded and perfectly quit. Great get away from DC. There are plenty of hike and wineries close by to explore. The house is cozy and nicely decorated. The owner is amazing. Quick to respond to all my dumb questions. I am already looking at dates to go back in the summer! Great dtay!

Such an amazing time!!

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful place for a weekend getaway!! Everything was perfect! Our dogs had the time of their lives and felt so free running around so much land. The house was so so clean and felt like home. Lake was beautiful, weather was amazing. There are tons of hiking trails too! Owner responded right away with anything we needed. I am already planning another trip here in January! Highly highly recommend this cabin!

We love the privacy off the main road and away from having any neighbors

  • 5 of 5

We love the creek right out from the property to fish, but we didn't catch any fish. We think it's because of the raining 2 days before we arrived. House was clean and beds very comfortable. The water was a little strong but durable. Nice to have sheets, towels, and kitchen pots, pans. We enjoyed our stay and love to go back when leaves change colors beautiful country. Thank you for letting us stay at your beautiful place.

Relaxed getaway

  • 4 of 5

I would recommend this for anyone who wants a relaxing get away without daily distractions. My mother joined us on the trip and she has a very difficult time getting around, including climbing up and down the riverbank for fishing; therefore, she was very limited on what she could do. She was looking forward to spending her time watching TV but that didn't happen. The site mentioned cable and satellite, and saw a satellite on the house in a pic, so we took that as the house had good channels. Not so much, and we only found out about the cable channels the day we arrived; the site info was a bit misleading. The house had 4 channels and they only came in very seldom, probably from the weather. To us, not a big deal, but it put a pretty big damper for someone very limited on mobility.

Also, the site mentions the sulfur scent in the water. The scent was extremely strong, we're glad we brought extra (extra!) water because it was very difficult simply brushing our teeth. Simply bathing in it was enough.

In addition, the creek was pretty low for us so we didn't get to do much other than catching a few small fish. However, according to the neighbors, the creek is usually higher.

Other than that, the trip was nice. We took our pets to the Roaring Run Furnace about 9 miles up the road to hike. We also spent one day driving to Roanoke and hopping on the Blue Ridge Parkway. That was quite beautiful.

Overall, a nice getaway.

Beautiful Creekside Property

  • 5 of 5

Our group of family and friends tries to get together to kayak at least twice a year, as we're spread out over two states. This house was a wonderful place to be able to do just that. The yard itself is worth a review on it's own. It is large, well kept, lots of space to spread out as well as ample places to gather and catch up. The concrete pad under the house itself is a perfect place to sit out the summer rains and the hottest part of the day when we weren't on the river or in the creek. To be honest, we didn't spend nearly as much time inside as out, but the house was very nice as well. Everything was clean, beautiful, and well kept. The availability of the internet (and Netflix) was a great bonus! I know other reviewers have complained about the sulfur water smell, and to call a spade a spade...yeah, it's there. I have stayed at several other places along the creek and they all share that same issue. IT"S NOT A BIG DEAL! It'll give you something to giggle about :-) and it doesn't have any effect on you at all. Yes, you'll shower in the aroma of the aftermath of a bean eating contest, but the smell does NOT linger in your hair or on your body...promise! The owners were very helpful all during the booking process, and were very accommodating to any request. All my questions were answered promptly, each time. We truly enjoyed our stay here and look forward to coming back soon! Thanks so much for sharing your home with us!
