beautiful home and beach

  • 4 of 5

Everything was super nice, and Herman the on site caretaker was excellent! Great security with the gates all around that locked. The only negative i have is that the A/C are wall units and only keep the house cool if running all the time. When we arrived they had not been turned on and it was sweltering inside! They asked us to turn off the A/C units when we left the house, but had we done that it would have taken another 5 hours to cool down. When we were away one day the units were turned off ... and we returned to oppressive heat! Herman said he was told to turn them off... I don't think anyone should go into a home you are renting without permission and turn off the A/C units...

A fantastic place

  • 5 of 5

Our two families stayed here in March 2017 on our first trip to Costa Rico. The home is as pictured with a beautiful beach being only about 20ft outside of the gates. We greatly enjoyed the area and home which offered plenty of space for our group of five to socialize and also have our own quite moments. The beach is secluded yet not isolated and connects to the larger beach about a mile away around the point where you can find a couple of hotel bars and restaurants. At low tide you can go around a rocky point to secluded dark sand beach that has a protected shallow area to snorkel to see an abundance of sea life. That beach looks like something out of a lost island with the rugged beauty coming near the waters edge. We saw a very large iguana strolling the shoreline and the tidal pools fascinated both the adults and teenagers.

The house is well equipped and maintained. We ate most evening meals outside on the patio, which we found the electric grill to be very useful in BBQing up local shrimp or sea bass. We discovered the contact details for Frank the local fisherman who delivers his fresh catch to the door in the evening. It was remarkable and better priced than of the nearby supermarkets. The area is much quieter and relaxing than SanJose and there is a small local store, Wil-Mart, about a five minute drive away that has almost most items needed. The prices may be a 20 to 30% more on some items, but the convience is balanced against driving to to Auto Mercado in Tamarindo ( about 15 mins more over some rough dirt roads that wind through amazing countryside).

The agents at Amigo Reality were very good to deal with and offered useful advice and prompt communication. Herman the local care taker was ever attentive in looking after the pool and grounds. My only regret was not knowing more Spanish to converse with him. The house does share the lot with an adjoining garage in which the owners have an apartment. They were not intrusive at all and nice people.

The washer and dryer were not readily accessible due to a new security system being installed during our stay. It was available to use if we requested which we did not need to. The pool was a great area to cool off and relax when the heat of mid-day sun made the beach somewhat toasty. The sunsets were simply amazing and not one was missed. The upstairs balcony was a great area for morning coffee or a mid day nap after the beach. All in all a very great place to stay and return.

Excellent !

Very nice house on great secluded beach. Caretaker named Herman lives in adjacent apartment is very good at keeping grounds and pool clean. Great to know your things are watched while you are away. He is very helpful, but never intrusive.

I would definitely return.

Exactly what we were looking for... Pictures don't do this place justice!

  • 5 of 5

I can not say enough about our stay at this Playa Grande Home. I was traveling with a group of 6 people, two couples and two single people, and there was plenty of space for us to co-habitat for a week. It also has working wi-fi which was great as well as a phone in the home to make local calls. Herman lives on the premises above the garage and was there for anything we needed, only came over when we went to him first or requested things through Nova. The beach, though not private, mine as well have been during our stay. The occasionally passerby walked up and down the beach, but for the most part it was just us. The beach it probably 20 feet from the back gate and it was much bigger then I expected. BEAUTIFUL sunsets!

We arranged our activities through Nova and Marco and they were super helpful and extremely available to us. We received a list of tours and activities from them prior to our trip and they arranged anything we wanted to do. We chose the All day adventure tour (zip lining, river tubing, horseback riding, etc.), the Sunset Catamaran tour with snorkeling and open bar, Massages at the house overlooking the beach, and the Estuary tour where we saw lots of cool animals like monkeys, crocodile, iguanas and lots of birds.

We chose to cook for the majority of nights and we went to the local grocery store located about 20 minutes away in the surf town of Tamarindo. We also had dinner a couple of nights there as well just to experience some local food.

Overall It was a GREAT vacation and I would highly recommend this home for anyone looking for some R&R and adventure. Thanks again Nova and Marco for being such great hosts!!

Relaxing, gorgeous home- best way to enjoy fabulous beaches!

  • 5 of 5

This has been by far our favorite place to stay, and we have visited many beaches up and down Costa Rica. Casa Paraiso is located at the northern end of playa grande, on a section called playa ventanas. There, the ocean is calmer than grande or tamarindo, and there are trails to other nearby beaches (playa carbon with its intense black sand is just over the hill.) there are also fun tide pools to explore. You can always hear the ocean, and view it's gorgeous sunsets from the house. The house is very well maintained and comfortable for a variety of groups, as each bedroom has its own bathroom. It is also very safe- just keep the exterior gates locked. Other nearby beach to explore is playa Conchal. This is our kids favorite beach in all of Costa Rica, ranking right up there with Manuel Antonio. We weren't sure how to find it, but the friendly shop keeper at Sea Star souvenir shop in Brasilito (a perfect spot to pick up unique, beautiful souvenirs without bothering about going into Tamarindo) pointed us in the right direction. There are a few more beaches in the area that we want to explore. At playa conchal the water is tranquil, great for swimming in, and snorkeling. Vendors will come by to offer you a pipa (cool coconut water) and there are trees so whoever wants to can stay in the shade. Just bring your hammock or sarong!

The stars envelop you in a blanket at night, which, when combined with the ocean sounds, is nearly mesmerizing.

Oh, for those that like it, Tamarindo is not a very far drive, about 20-30 minutes. We went once to go to a restaurant we like (bamboo sushi club) but otherwise we try to avoid the crowded-ness. You can grocery shop and go to restaurants much nearer to the house, but you will need a car. I hope you enjoy your vacation as much as we did!

Super private, elegant home, steps from the beach... Loved it!

  • 5 of 5

My family had an excellent time staying at Casa Paraiso, and the staff were super friendly and helpful. The grounds and the house are very well taken care of. We loved hanging around the pool and dashing back and forth from the beach with the kids was really fun. The beach is so private and secluded we really felt we had it all to ourselves. I enjoyed the hammocks with the sunset colors from the upstairs balcony. I would recommend this place to anyone seeking a relaxing get away from it all type of vacation. That's just what we needed. Thanks!
