THE NORSE HUS IS A LARGE MOUNTAIN HOME WITH 4 BEDROOMS, 3 BATHS, THAT SLEEPS 14.
About Roger Ravenstad
I have been coming to Twain Harte since I was 5 years old when my parents bought their first cabin here. The Norse Hus is my second cabin and was not intended as a rental at first. My family and I enjoy the cabin year round. We are avid skiers and hikers. I am also a semi-professional photographer and the cabin has many of my local work decorating the walls.
Roger Ravenstad purchased this House in 2002
Why Roger Ravenstad chose Twain Harte
We were captivated by this property because it is a larger lot with 100's of trees giving a very secluded and private setting. The Brentwood Park area of Twain Harte is much quieter than central Twain Harte, but is only 1.5 mile walk to town.
What makes this House unique
The large deck wraps around three sides of the cabin so you can always find a sunny or shady spot, whatever you prefer. The house is huge on Twain Harte standards and works very well for multiple families with children. The downstairs has a large family room, which is great for kids, while the upstairs has multiple living spaces, so everyone can find peace or activity within the house.

Cozy house in the trees
Great house! Accommodated our group with ease. Would definitely recommend this house, as we will probably end up renting from them again.
Pictures don't do justice! it's beautiful and the owner is very great at communicating. We had a big group and the house was perfect because there's plenty of room for everybody to feel comfortable and move around without feeling crowded.
The only complaint I have is quiet time is 10pm, everyday we followed the house rules to the T but, of course the "neighbors" weren't too happy with the loud music we were playing, Why have the speakers on the outside deck, if this is an issue?
The approach from a not so friendly neighbor to my kids as they were playing games on the deck should not have happened cause I got a call and a text from the owner to turn down the music, all I have to say is He's Lucky my husband or cousins were NOT outside when he decided to do a walk by with his Rude Remarks.
We've been to Twaine Harte 4 years in a row, stayed at multiple cabins, do the same type of family gatherings, loud music, family enjoying each others company and we've never had a complain but, I know it's not the owners fault, thank you again for letting us enjoy your beautiful home and if your a big crowd, this is the Perfect Home for you.
I'm so glad the Norse Hus was able to accommodate your group and that you had a great time. Thank you for following our basic rules, it's always appreciated.
5th year in the books!
A 5th year of a great stay at Nors Hus has been etched in the books. Our group thoroughly enjoys going there for our annual marriage group get together.
The owner is always updating and improving this home. This year we saw the Shlage lock system which was so easy and no need to carry a key. Secondly noticed a few new decor pieces and brand new toilets! :).
I'd say the only thing missing is access to a local lake, but know this is not a possibility at this time.
Roger, it's such a pleasure to stay at your place each year.
Blessings to you!
Veronica, it’s so nice to have you back again. It’s also nice that you notice the improvements we make each year. Look forward to seeing you and your group next year.
Great property. Great space enjoyed by our 9 member family and small dog
The Ravenstaad Norse Hus is lovely and it's obvious the owners cherish it dearly. The layout was perfect for our large multiple family vacation over Thanksgiving and they were willing to let us bring our dog along. The kitchen was very well equipped. The beds were comfortable. Everything was very clean. The owner's Norwegian family roots were prevalent throughout and made everyone decide Norway is on their bucket list. We would definitely return to the Norse Hus.
Sue, I'm glad you were able to celebrate Thanksgiving at the Norse Hus. If you ever make it to Norway, let me know and I'd be happy to give you some tips!
A group of 18 recently spent our family reunion at the Norse Hus. Like many others, most of our time was spent on the deck and in the living room in groups - with plenty of room! I was stoked to find a full kitchen with just about every seasoning imaginable, plenty of utensils and even a large crock pot that was PERFECT for taco night. Popular vote = "lets come back here" with a special gold star vote from Mom who loved having a cup of coffee in the morning while visiting with the friendly deer.
I was concerned that it might be warm without air conditioning but was happy to find that the house was comfortable with the help of fans. My only suggestion would be to maybe bring along an extra fan for anyone that may suffer from hot flashes. :)
A great time was had by all. High five to Roger for sharing his wonderful house with others. Thanks so much! - Sandy
Sandy, It was a pleasure having you. I'm so glad you were able to enjoy The Norse Hus as much as we do!
“We were in town for a family reunion and had 3 families with kids and grandbabies stay at this lovely well-maintained home. All we needed was provided in the well-stocked kitchen and numerous bedrooms. We enjoyed great BBQ and conversations on the expansive deck and watching the NBA playoffs in the large living room. Morning coffee with the deer in the backyard was a special treat! We definitely recommend the home and will come back when we can.”
Great that you were able to enjoy some family time at the Norse Hus. Hope to see you again.
