This 550 square foot guest house is a private place where couples can experience that "one of a kind" vacation. The guest house is on a property occupied by the owners that have been residents of Hualalai for 19 years. It is only a three-minute cart ride to the Four Seasons Hotel, pools and spa. The guest house is located on Pakui Street. It is a private free standing structure with it's own entrance. The sitting room houses a wet bar with a refrigerator, coffee maker toaster and a microwave oven. The private lanai has a table and chairs where morning coffee, breakfast or lunch can be served. An etched glass front door, travertine and granite throughout, give the guest house a feeling of casual elegance. The guest house was added to the property in 2012.

Fantastic home!

  • 5 of 5

What a fantastic house! We had the pleasure of staying at this home for a family vacation that included my toddler son (the owners had a fence put up around the entire pool ). The home was perfect for the amount of space that we needed. It was immaculate and well laid out. We found ourselves in and around the pool area for hours on end. The owners could not have been nicer and were spot on with suggestions for things to do, see, eat, shop, etc.

The Four Seasons was just a short golf cart ride away with some fantastic restaurants. I would not hesitate to recommend this home and we have already considered staying there again.

The perfect large getaway luxury vacation home near Kona: private, but limitless pleasures!

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I had the great pleasure of staying in this rental this May a few weeks back. The weather was perfect, the island beautiful, but just as wonderful and special was this large custom luxury home “fit for a king and queen.”

It was quiet, yet spacious, and opened up onto the golf course which was seldom busy (early May). We used the private pool and hot tub all the time, and it became our perfect getaway away from home in the PNW (Washington). We looked at the VRBO picts of this before we got here, but they barely tell the story of what is in store for a visitor.

Everything was first class and high-end. All new, perfect, and clean, with everything included to cook, live, rest, kick back, and just enjoy. There was internet throughout the house and outside areas (and at the resort) in case I needed to “check in with the real world” (though, I tried not to!).

Staying barely a quarter mile walk from the Four Seasons, we enjoyed the multitude of amenities and services the resort has to offer: lap pool (25 yards or meters, perfect for the triathlete in me), an amazing health club with limitless possibilities for exercise and classes, about a mile of beach front, great walking/running trails, several great restaurants, and too much to list. There is also the Kings Pond, a safe place for great snorkel exploration of Hawaiian fish, right on the property.

When we come back again we could bring our large family and there would be plenty of room in this 4000 foot home.

Do stay and enjoy this unique luxury. It made our 30th anniversary perfect. Plus, though secluded, private, and “off the beaten path,” I don’t think it is more than 15-20 minutes from the KOA airport.

About Margaret Peggy Kent

Year guest house constructed - 2012

About the owner: We built the main home in 1999. We have used the home for a vacation rental for the majority of the time that we have had the home. We have been coming to the Hawaiian Islands for over 28 years. The Hawaiian Islands were a special place for us and our children to visit and we have many fond memories of the kids growing up knowing that we would spend 8 weeks per year in the home vacationing. We love the Kohala Coast because it offers beautiful weather, complex views of black lava, striking green landscaping and endless views of blue water and beaches. The combination is so unique that we chose to move to the island permanently in 2011 and left the large home as a vacation rental. Now with the children off to college we have decided to move back into the main home but the Guest House is available for rent.

We chose this location on Pakui to build our home because we like to be close enough to the water to hear the surf and see the water but not so close that there are problems with the salt and wind. With the children, it was very important to be close to the hotel, spa and tennis courts. Pakui street is always full of other children and our children have made life-long friends at the resort that they would connect with every year.

Resort Amenities

The par 72 Jack Nicklaus golf course is home to the prestigious Mitsubishi Electric Championship. The course is a resort course with wide fairways and a beautiful finish along the ocean. The golf pros offer private lessons. The course starters put you at ease when teeing off for the first time. They can also give you advice about the course and with the computerized carts you will always know your distance.

The Hualalai Spa is one of the most lavish in the world with a menu of wonderful treatments, wet and dry saunas, hot tubs, with cold plunge. The sports club offers offer a wide variety of programs designed to meet all of your energy levels from Spinning, TRX, hot yoga and aqua-fit classes just to mention a few. The gym is equipped with state of the art workout and weight machines.

A residential concierge will assist you with travel plans including air transportation, dinner reservations, luxurious spa appointments, tee times and excursions.

Enjoy the beautiful scenic shoreline cart path where you can walk and enjoy the resting sea turtles. There are fantastic tide pools in front of the Four Seasons Resort Hualalai making it a great place to swim. The recent appearance of an endangered monk seal on our shore line and the whales for 4 months of the year are a real plus to our location.

The man-made King’s Pond offers a great place for children and adults to snorkel with and feed the Eagle Rays and tropical fish. There is daily Eagle Ray feeding.

Water sports include stand up paddle boarding, snorkeling, paddling in Hawaiian canoes, or an excursion on the ribcraft.

At the Kaupulehu cultural center the legacy of the site and culture is celebrated with programs designed to educate. Lei making, traditional hula, ukulele lessons, and Hawaiian arts and crafts are all available.

Resort Fees apply. Please inquire at the time of booking.

What makes this cottage unique

One of the unique benefits of this guest house over a hotel room is that breakfast and lunch can be prepared at the guest house minimizing the expensive food at the resort restaurants for these meals. Also as a hotel guest you do not have access to coolers, boogie boards and beach toys so it becomes very hard to enjoy all the beaches that Hawaii has to offer.

Also the guest house comes with it's own golf cart so it is easy to get around the whole resort.

This set up provides the ideal vacation where the guests can use the Four Seasons facilities but also have all the equipment necessary to tour the island beaches and sight see.
