Villa Alegre offers peaceful, tropical relaxation at its best! Our 2 story waterfront Villa features 5 deluxe bedrooms and can accommodate up to 14 people. We are located in the village of Cuastecomate on a small secluded bay featuring our unique beach, popular because of its gentle waves. If you're looking for a quiet beachside atmosphere without large hotels and hectic activity of the larger Mexican beach resorts, Villa Alegre is for you. Our focus is our guests' comfort and we pride ourselves on delivering quality service for a trip you will treasure for a lifetime. We are happy to book individual rooms for times we don't have large groups.

Costa Alegre, the 'happy coast,' stretches south from Puerta Vallarta approximately 150 miles to Manzanillo, Mexico. This area of coastline is known for its fabulous fishing, extraordinary golf courses, and authentic Mexican culture. There are many beautiful and secluded beaches that are unspoiled and as yet undiscovered by most. Nestled into this sparkling jewel-like coastline lies the peaceful Mexican village of Cuastecomate and your home away from home, Villa Alegre.

Waterfront Oasis

This is our second time staying at this property. Easy access to the beach and the convenience of the pool is one of the things we love about this property. Our group of 13 were very comfortable. We used the well equipped kitchen daily. We spent most of our time outside on the patio enjoying the view and wonderful weather. Caustecomate closes up early at night so it is quiet after 8 pm. The restaurants on he boardwalk are convenient. Melody and the property manager are very accommodating and respond quickly to any questions or concerns. We had a wonderful time and will be back in the future.

Great property. Our party of 10 truly enjoyed its stay. Might be a challenge for guests with mobility issues as three bedrooms are on the second floor, up a curved staircase, and the fourth bedroom is in a separate unit with about five or six steps. We ordered food and drinks from the restaurant next door and they delivered and served right to the house patio. The house and beach are surrounded by jungle so be prepared for bugs of all sizes and little lizards. Some may even make it into your room. The bedrooms are air conditioned, the common areas are not. The beach is quite pebbly/rocky so wear water shoes. Other than that, it was clean and very swimmable.

Don't forget your RAID (cockroaches spray)... But, you'll have a breathtaking sunset!

We went the whole family to my dad's 90th bday celebration, we were 12 people (8 adults, 2 teenagers and 2 children) so we needed a big place and this one looks like what we were looking for that purpose! The communication with the owner, it was only by email, and she answered every question before the arrival time! To started, we have to wait for around 15 min to the personal who was in charge for opening the house and it was a hot and sunny day! After those minutes, we tried to open the gate in order to wait for the person, at least in the shade of the pool area! The outside house and the around view, is amazing! The house is completely at the edge of the beach, which is divided with your private entrance! After around 20 min, Guillermo, the gatekeeper, appeared and he opened the house which, in a quick view, was completely fine! 3 bedrooms upstairs, 2 full size beds in ea room, 2 bathrooms in ea side of ea room and 1 shower for ea room. Air conditioner in every room, but in one of the rooms, the air conditioner didn't cooling off! One little private unit is located annexed to the big house, with exactly same beds and bathrooms to the ones in the big house, but less stairs! Guillermo left and everybody started unpacking. We started with the kitchen first, because the ice was melted already, and we had perishables, BUT!... when we opened the kitchen cabinets to used the kitchen pans...OMG!!!...A LOT OF LITTLE & TANY COCKROACHES!! running through all dishes!! We never expected to found that in the beautiful place! Same happened with all the rooms drawers, when we tried to accommodate out clothing, tiny insects were running and hiding!, so disappointed and disgusting situation! We had to leave our clothing in the luggage in order to avoid bringing any extra intruder back to our house! So, we decided to go to the 1 store located in that little town, and bought a killer insect, kitchen cleaner to clean and sanitized the kitchen, bleach to wash the toilet, which weren't very clean and shower because I found someone else hair! So, all family members were sanitizing, cleaning and mopping kitchen and rooms instead enjoying the place! After covid, I'm taking extra precautions about the cleaning process and sanitation of any place were we stayed! this house was beautiful for outside, but the cleaning was very disappointing, disgusting and very unexpected, for what we paid to be there! I have the pictures proof, but cannot upload it! So sad!

Hermosa casa

La casa es tal cual como se muestra en las fotografias lo que mas me gusto es el area de terraza la piscina es espectacular con una vista hermosa del mar . La verdad disftrutamos muchisimo . Lo unico que sugiero revisar es la posibilidad de mejorar la estufa ya que es muy antigua y dificil de prender y el mantenimiento en general de los baños ya que el baño comun de la estancia de TV tiraba agua. Tambien a pesar de que la playa es publica estaria bien que limpien el pedazo que esta abajo de la casa ya que tenia maleza y basura por tanto no la usamos. Seria genial tener un par de sombrillas para los camastros de la alberca , pero eso seria un plus. Tambien sugiero una mejor limpieza de el baño de la alberca. En general muy linda la estancia y la dueña muy amable si volveriamos con gusto para una proxima ocasion.

Gran lugar

La casa está en una zona espectacular. La única casa en una playa de 300 mts de largo, muchos restaurantes a un lado, playa muy amigable para ninos y la casa con excelente zona común para pasarla con familia. La cocina está bien equipada y cuenta con todo lo necesario para estadías cortas o largas. El único problema que tuvimos fue el internet, desafortunadamente se cayó una antena que hace que el internet no funcione. Regresaremos pronto.

Awesome house!!!

This house has a great location, walking distance from beach and restaurants. Melaque is about 5 minutes, Barra de Navidad is 10 minutes, Tenacatita is about 40 minutes. House amenities were really good. Guillermo made Chrck in and Chrck out really easy. We would definitely go back to this property.

This property was nothing short of amazing. It is beautiful, clean, spacious, and just a dream. 100% would love to come back to this property. Only thing was zero cell service and wifi was below average but turned out to be great because you get to disconnect. Other than that it was perfect.

What a gem! Stunningly beautiful villa on a lovely beach that is in a sheltered bay with snorkeling out the door. There is not a single thing that we would have changed. It suited us perfectly. The villa is 2 kms from the busier town of Melaque, and for that we were very grateful. The name of the tiny village where the villa resides is Cuasteomate and it is only about 2 city blocks square. The village is very well cared for and unlike the overwhelming majority of Mexican villages, all the streets are paved in a quaint cobblestone design, so there is no dust at all and it is very clean. The pride of ownership is clear with shop owners out sweeping the streets daily. Most of the 5-6 restaurants along the beach are catering to the beach patronage only and they close by 6ish, so it is very quiet and safe at night because there is virtually no one on the streets. Expect to drive 2 kms to Melaque for dinners out, so a car rental is a necessity. We had someone come into the villa every 3rd night to prepare us dinner at home. It was marvelous to sit out in the covered patio, sip wine and watch the spectacular sunsets. We comfortably fit two families of four in the villa. It was certainly designed to provide privacy and "suites" for each of the 4 bedrooms. Each bedroom had 2 double beds and two bathrooms - 8 bathrooms total! The double beds are a bit small for two adults, but maybe I am just being a princess :) The flat grassy green space, beside the pool, was an unexpected bonus for the kids to play frisbee, soccer or football. The pool was great and well maintained. Keep in mind this is Mexico, and there are allowances anyone must keep in mind when visiting. The infrastructure in Mexico as a whole is not great, so there are hiccups now and again. The water pump would turn off occasionally at the villa, but we simply pushed the reset button and it was up and running. The owner was super responsive and excellent to deal with. And yes, there are the odd parade of tiny ants when anyone drops some crumbs of food, but I have travelled the world and these critters are ubiquitous in any tropical destination. Clean up the crumbs and the ants go. For any walkers or runners, the villa's beach is the destination for all the Melaque snowbirds on their morning hike. We did the reverse and ran to a gorgeous point, on a trail above the ocean in Melaque most days. It is 7-8kms return and very safe because there is an endless trickle of gringos on the same route. One day we hopped in the car and travelled the region to see if there was any other property that we would be interested in. At the end of the day, we realized how truly fortunate we were to have landed in Villa Alegre. It was far and away the best accommodation in the region...a very special home. I would not hesitate to recommend this villa.

Fantastic location to get away from the crowds.

The location of this property is ideal! It's in a very small village with a great beach and such friendly local people. The property has a huge out door living space, with enough room that you never feel crowded. We are looking at returning again next year.

Don't be fooled by outside appearances

Our group has rented this villa for the past four years from early in January until the end of February. I've only given my rating 3 Stars based on the interior of the villa and issues we encountered during our 7 week stay. The exterior of the property (grounds and view) I will give 5 Stars. The biggest issue we encountered was an infestation of ants of various sizes. Two of the bedrooms were quite bad and two had no ants. My husband and I had one of the rooms with the ants. When we moved in, I pulled out the dresser drawer to find it full of large black ants...disgusting and shocking! We did a lot of spraying with Raid to control the problem. At the end of three weeks, it came to a head when my husband was bitten in bed. This coincided with one of the couples heading home and we moved into their room. The kitchen was bad for very tiny ants on the central island where we did all the food preparation. No matter how much we attacked them, they kept coming back. We finally insisted on the house being fumigated. It seemed to work as we found ant bodies every morning in the various rooms but the little kitchen ants were made of sterner stuff as they were with us until we left. Second issue was noise at night. Since the roads in Cuastecomate were paved, last year, the road outside the villa is busy every day as most vehicles entering town drive past the villa. It is a popular beach destination for day trippers. At night, normally after midnight, young people park on the other side of the fence and "party". It became the norm to be woken up in the middle of the night by people outside the fence. Throw in the dogs barking at the partiers and it was not a fun time for the people trying to sleep in the villa. Often times they would stay until 3am-4am! Never saw any police presence during our 7 week stay and not from lack of complaints from locals. The villa is described as deluxe accommodations. Perhaps, once upon a time, but, sadly, not any more. The interior is dated and needs lots of TLC and that's why I give only 3 Stars. We are not returning a) because of the issues encountered and b) the owner rented the place out from under us for next year without the courtesy of first refusal. We have found a new place that we believe will meet our high expectations. To the owner we say, fix what needs fixing; your rates do not reflect what people are paying for. I would loved to have added photos but the review lacks that ability.

fabulous rental

We spent two weeks at Villa Alegre, everything was very comfortable and the location is the best. The property was well maintained, everything worked. I hardly want to tell anyone about it because the place is so unspoiled! the perfect place for a total rest. We explored Melaque and Barra de Navidad for great restaurants and sunsets.

My family, including my 6 children have been coming to this beautiful area of Mexico for over 23 years. We spent many years in Alaska as commercial fishermen as well as running a premier fishing lodge in the pristine remote location of Elfin Cove. I currently live in Baker City, Oregon where I work in education, but spend as much time as I can in Mexico and hoping to soon live there more of the year.

We fell in love with this property about 20 years ago when Cuastecomate was almost completely undeveloped. It has since become a highly desirable destination area, because of the beautiful handicapped friendly streets, calm beach waves, and quiet laid back evenings . Villa Alegre was designed and built 16 years ago and has recently been undergoing significant refurbishing. Long term guests tell me it is currently at its best overall and we are committed to continuing this process for the future.

O que faz essa propriedade ser única?

Villa Alegre can comfortably accommodate up to 16 guests, or 9 in individual beds, each with their own small toilet/sink area, providing privacy, ideal for retreat groups. The villa, garden and pool are private use for guests only. We are the only private residence that opens directly onto the beach with the jungle rising up behind. The beach boasts a boardwalk and water equipment for the handicapped to enjoy the gentle waves. Great beach for small children also. There are many activities to enjoy as well as many other beautiful beaches within a short drive, each with their own unique setting.
