Superior simplicity, beauty and setting.
Beautiful spot. Glorious sunrises and sunsets. Pure water. Quiet neighbors. Lovely home. Secluded neighborhood but close to a market. The beach was never once crowded. It was an ideal base for our many adventures. Our son flew in from LA and loved everything about it. We'd rent again in a heartbeat. Thanks Susan for the gift of your home.
You are very welcome guests at our Lake Superior Beach house! I'm glad you, Kathy and Holden enjoyed both the property and all the "adventures" the Upper Peninsula offers. I'm looking forward to hearing from you again soon!
A great week at a great place
We spent the last part of July and first part of August (1 week) at Superior Beach House with another couple. The house is located on a quiet road in a beautiful, peaceful setting. We liked the natural setting with wild blueberry bushes and pine trees. The neighbor's garden was a magnet for butterflies and birds including Kirtland's warblers. The beach is wonderful and free of litter. Very few people were ever out and it felt very private. It is not far from a bike trail that takes you into Marquette. 2 of us biked in on Sunday to attend an art fair. We took advantage of the pet friendliness and brought our dog. When the 4 of us left the house we used the services of Poet's Pet Parlor Doggie Daycare and Boarding and Zoe enjoyed her visits there. We enjoyed Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore by sea kayaking, hiking and a sunset cruise. Spent an afternoon canoeing the Au Train River. Both the river and Lake Superior are incredibly clear. We took walks on the beach, swam and had fires in the evenings and looked at stars after dark. The house was very comfortable. The kitchen was well supplied with dishes, utensils and pans. Lots of puzzles and games if you stay inside.
So glad to hear you enjoyed your stay! It sounds like you were able to pack in a lot of activities! Your review is very helpful advice to future travelers!
Cozy cottage truly a superior beach house
We had a wonderful week at your cottage! Perfect weather and the flies held off until the very last morning. Just a beautiful little place and perfect size for our family and to entertain a few guests throughout the week. Your neighbors are lovely as well and we even took advantage of the sauna as it was a bit chilly early in the week. We enjoyed Long walks along the shoreline and we even plunged into the chilly waters of Lake Superior! We also completed a jigsaw puzzle map of Lake Superior which we donated to your collection. A great spot to create wonderful family memories. Thanks again.
We're so glad you enjoyed your stay! Also glad to hear the weather was nice for beach walking & you enjoyed our sauna! It's nice to know the beach house house is now included in your family memories. Thank you for the jigsaw puzzle map of Lake Superior. I'm sure everyone will enjoy it very much!
A nice setting, but ruined by construction next door.
Well, the setting is perfect, the cottage is nothing fancy but cozy and adequate. However, we were very disappointed with the overall experience because the landlord neglected to mention that the neighboring lot would be a construction site for the entire summer. Not exactly the relaxing and peaceful experience that we were looking forward to. Waking up to rumbling so loud that the whole house is literally shaking, reading to the sound of the beep-beep of the bulldozer backing off was not exactly our idea of a good time. There is no way that the landlord didn't know that this would happen, or had a good chance of happening, since the construction of a new house next door was barely starting, with only the foundation laid out. I feel like I have been duped, my family's vacation ruined, and seriously question the ethics of the owner of that place. After the bulldozers will come the chain saw and other power tools, as a background for the next renter's vacation, all through the summer. But hey, too late now, the owner got her money.... As for us, we're back in town, where it's much quieter, finally.
Prime location with a 60's retro feel.
Prime beach location on Lake Superior!!! It was like we had the whole beach to ourselves. Loved being able to bring our dog and being able to enjoy a Sauna was wonderful! Close enough to Marquette to enjoy some city life too.
I wish we could have stayed forever!!!
We absolutely loved this place. We went swimming nearly every day, and we spent our evenings in the Sauna. Our dogs loved it too, and we all felt immediately at home once we arrived. The house has everything you need to be comfortable, and it feels lived in, like it is your home. We couldn't have had a better experience, and it was hard to say goodbye to Lake Superior on the last day.
Thank you to Sue and family for such a wonderful honeymoon!
