I'm a busy dad with a beautiful wife and three amazing daughters, and an awesome boxer dog named Zeke. My favorite thing to do is travel...I try to pack the suitcase and ditch town whenever I can. I especially enjoy traveling with my wife and daughters join and we go explore new places and culture. I can hardly wait for the next family travel adventure!
Shane purchased this cabin in 2014
We enjoy hosting friends and family for ski trips to Crystal Mountain in the Winter and hikes around Mount Rainier in the Summer. Our cabin is a dream-come-true getaway for long holiday weekends and outdoor adventures together as a family. When we can't use it, our loss is your gain - we like to share with guests from the wonderful VRBO community!
Crystal River Ranch is a wonderful community with lots of great amenities, wildlife and proximity to Crystal Mountain and Mount Rainier resorts (approx 10 miles drive). The "downtown" Greenwater area is quaint yet cool. I recommend hanging out at Naches Tavern bar and grill in the evening and Wapiti Woolies coffee and retail shop during the day. Also, there is a local ski and snowboard shop, little general store and a couple other small retail stores. Between the Ranch, Crystal and Rainier Mountains and Greenwater downtown, you can find yourself a sweet "get away from it all" vacation adventure.
This was a wonderful place for my family to land as we moved from out of state to this area. The owner was helpful and went out of his way to assist us. The home is beautiful with a wonderfully complete kitchen, laundry, and plenty of extra bedding. My family enjoyed biking to the picnic and playground areas, hiking to the river, and watching the elk in the yard.
In addition, the home is close to hiking/skiing/exploring the state and national parks.
My wife and I stayed here for a short vacation away from our children and, while the amenities available would have suited them with a collection of kid friendly DVDs and board games, we were childless for our weekend. Upon arrival we were greeted with the smell of the woods, and a pair of Adirondack chairs which we got full use of over the weekend.
The Master Bath has a wonderful jetted tub, or so I was told, as my wife was the one taking advantage there. It was needed after our day of hiking around Crystal Mountain, I couldn't recommend the gondola ride there enough. Breathtaking views and a reasonably priced restaurant to boot. Nothing quite like seeing Mt. Rainier, St. Helens, and Baker all at once while dining.
The cabin was well appointed and had everything we needed, and spoiled us with a gas range. We will definitely be back if we can get the cabin again in the future, it's definitely a busy place with a full guest book. At checkout we found that we could hike to the nearby river, which we should have known as we could hear it while relaxing on the patio.
Make sure to stop in Enumclaw for food though, the "General Store" in Greenwater is little more than a convenience store.
Spacious and clean with a modern charm. Loved staying there! Thanks for sharing your home!
We rendezvoused here with our son and his family who flew into the Seattle area. Walking inside gave us a good feeling, everything was clean, orderly, and inviting. The kitchen is well stocked, the living room furniture comfortable, the king sized suite upstairs with the huge bathroom was a hit. Our pregnant daughter-in-law loved the jacuzzi tub, as did the grandkids. The first night there at dinner a cry went up and everyone was out of their seats! The Elk were in the yard, this thrilled everyone to no end. In the early mornings I watched them from the upstairs window...a doe and her twin fawns were in the herd. We especially like the recreation center, it has a great playground area, and various outside courts for soccer, baseball, basketball, etc. There are picnic tables with grills and charcoal and starter right there. The recreation hall has a kitchen, two bathrooms, couches, books, an air hockey game. We arrived early before we could check in and spent the afternoon here, then returned almost everyday. It is very peaceful, quiet, and beautiful. The caretakers garden of hundreds of poppies was beathtaking! We did visit the Sunrise area of Rainier and the other side (long drive for the latter). The owner was more than willing to accommodate us and smooth out some of our small problems and what little suggestions we had to make the place more perfect were well received. Definitely we would stay again!
My family & I had a wonderful time in the Cabin. The cabin was so comfortable & in great condition. We loved waking up in the woods, seeing elk and close to hiking. The faculties at the ranch house was also good for my granddaughter.
My family and I used this cabin for a visit to Seattle. We enjoyed the tranquility and peacefulness that the cabin afforded. We did commute into the city several times, and usually the commute was a bit over an hour. Avoid peak traffic as it will add significant time. We use the cabin as a base for our hiking around Mt. Rainier and trips into the city. We were very comfortable in this cabin and had plenty of room for my family of five, with room to spare. The cabin has a generous porch that we enjoyed sitting on at night and enjoying the scenery. The cabin was most accommodating for all our needs of eating / sleeping (very comfortable beds) / relaxing at the end of a day in the city or hiking. It was nice to get away from the city at night, with the short drive. The area around the cabin was very inviting, there is a nice State Nature Interpretive Center close by with easy walking trails and very close to some very picturesque views of Mt. Rainier, and trailheads for hikes. While you are there I would recommend Sunrise and Ohanapecosh areas of Mt. Rainier. The cabin was well stocked with most of the amenities that you would expect. My family and I had a great time in this cabin and certainly met and exceeded our expectations.
