About Kim Grenfell
This property is very special to our family as we all enjoy the mountains and getting outdoors. My husband John and I both grew up in Hood River, OR and wanted our kids to experience the outdoors and small town experience. Packwood has delivered all this and more. We hope you too will visit this special place and all it has to offer.
Kim Grenfell purchased this House in 2005
Why Kim Grenfell chose Packwood
We wanted to be in the mountains and love being located so close to Mt. Rainer and White Pass Ski Resort were both of our children, and many friends and family, have learned to ski.
What makes this House unique
The first time we drove into Packwood and looked up at Mt. Rainer we fell in love. We knew within the first 5 minutes of walking our property with Hinkle Tinkle creek running through it, the beautiful view of Goat Rocks Johnson Peak and the short proximity to Cowlitz River, Mt. Rainer and White Pass Ski Resort that we had to have it.

I love this house very much
Very well equipped, clean and comfortable. Close to the Park. Nice environment.
Cute and Charming
Very cute and clean. Lots of board games provided for some much needed family unplugged time. Close to Whitepass. The wood burning stove made for a great atmosphere. The owner was quick to respond with our questions and did a follow up call to make sure we were all set.
Not what we anticipated for the price
Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me... I'll avoid this rental at this price in the future, even though I know that now I could find it at night (no lights on, house number not visible from street, no sign on access street). Couldn't get in to the property using the provided instructions (in total darkness). Wasn't even sure it was the right property. Lots of little things that added up to a less than excellent experience in a double-wide mobile home: poor lighting in master bedroom (no light for reading for either side of bed), no headboard. Difficult to understand/use thermostat, chopped up floor plan, carpeting under toilet (!), no cutting board. It may not have been the worst VRBO experience I have had, but definitely not worth the price, either.
Camille, I wanted to apologize again for the issues you experienced at check-in. As I had mentioned when assisting you over the phone with our back up check-in, the service provider of our door lock/thermostat system updated their platform and we were not aware of any issues until your arrival. We are working to get this resolved along with the thermostat issues. We do appreciate your feedback on the lighting at the front door and are in the process of installing a motion detecting light for our future guests. As for the lighting in the master, there is a light (and switch) built in to the headboard. And we most definitely have a cutting board and I sorry you were not able to locate it.
A real gem so close to White Pass
This place is amazing and I really wish we could come back in summer to enjoy it in full :)
Kim is an amazing host! Very responsive and caring, was real pleasure dealing with her.
We have really appreciated all the board games the house is stoked with, access to Netflix (to sate our kids desire for family movies) as well as very kind and quite unique detail of providing very good coffee :) I believe it was from local roaster (Mountain Goat Coffee) and it was superb!
The kitchen is very well stocked and you can tell that owners enjoy spending time there and have everything one might desire.
Andrei, thank you so much for taking the time to provide us this kind review. We are thrilled to hear you enjoyed your stay and hope to have you back soon.
Great little house in the woods
Three of us stayed for three nights. Great little house. Very well equipped and tastefully decorated. Very private, but only a short drive from the business section of Packwood.
Joe, so glad you all enjoyed your stay with us. We hope you will visit again in the future.
Great for ski getaway
We came to ski at White Pass for three days. Had a great stay at this property. Plenty of space for a family of four. It's in a very private location, with very little road noise and no neighbors. We didn't mind being disconnected from cell or wifi for a few days. Cozy beds, clean cabin. The kitchen is a good size, and well stocked with nearly every utensil, pan, dish, etc. that you might need. Nice to have the carport during rainy weather. The sun room and outdoor space would be great in the summer time. The owner is very responsive to needs or concerns. Thanks!
