Overview

About the property

3 bedroom, 2 bath Custom-Built Family Cabin On Lake Creek

Packwood is an outdoor wonderland, surrounded by mountains, rivers and wildlife. After a hard day of hiking, skiing, biking or just walking the river and viewing wildlife, come back to relax and unwind creekside. You can sit by the creek, roast marshmallows in the firepit, or play board games with the family. Our family spent 3 years building the cabin with wood and stone right from the land it sits on. We built it as a getaway from the fast moving pace of life in the 21st century. As such, there is no phone, cable or internet. We find our children forgetting about their devices and wanting to go down to the river to explore or challenging us to board games and puzzles. After a weekend unplugged, we are relaxed and ready to face the modern world. Our family would like to extend this wonderful experience with our guests and strive to make it the most comfortable and relaxing visit possible.

Don't worry, though, the cabin is well-equipped with all of the modern amenities for a comfortable stay. Upstairs, fall asleep to the sounds of the creek in the master bedroom's queen-sized bed, with its adjoining bath. In the morning, brew a cup of coffee in the master's coffee maker and enjoy it on the attached porch overlooking the creek. The guest bedroom across the hall has a double bed, and the bathroom next door has a tub/shower combo. Off the living room, our bunkroom has 4 bunks for the kids or daring adults. For extra guests there is also a hide-a-bed in the living room.

The main floor bathroom has a flair of originallity with a custom-built shower. The beautiful kitchen has a stove, microwave, dishwasher, refrigerator, and all of the dishes, glasses and cookware you need to cook meals for 2 or 12. The dining table, crafted from a fir tree on the property, seats 6-8 comfortably and a breakfast bar adds two more seats. The custom-built river rock fireplace burns logs for cozy winter afternoons. If you are visiting in warmer weather, all doors have walk-through screens to let in summer breezes. The creek side of the cabin includes a porch, a patio with table and chairs, and a large firepit.

Whether you come for the outdoor adventure or a quiet getaway, the Creekside Cabin is a great place to spend some time. If you'd like to become closer as a family and more in tune with the natural world, this is the rental for you!

Cozy and well equiped

  • 5 of 5

Enjoyed a lovely weekend stay in Packwood, very close to the park entrance and good value for money. Everything as described, and the house was clearly built with love and care. Only quibble would be that we were expecting an isolated cabin in the woods, but in fact it is surrounded by other houses in a small private development.

great escape for family hikes in the mountains

Location was perfect for our family. Very nice cabin and the proximity of the creek and the Cowlitz River were special additions to enjoyment by the kids. Highly recommend this retreat away from city life !

Nice cabin by Mt Rainier

  • 5 of 5

Our family loved this home near Mt Rainier. It is a comfortable space only about an hour drive from the Sunrise and Paridise Visitors Centers in MRNP. The cabin is tucked in the woods off a main road and the kids loved playing outside near the firepit and creek in the back yard. Just a quick drive from Packwood center also if you need some supplies. We would definitely stay again!

Just what we were hoping for!

  • 5 of 5

The pictures do not do this place justice. Great set-up for our group. Kids loved the bunk room and the available DVD’s. We cooked most meals there and kitchen was stocked with necessary supplies. We just didn’t think about sandwich bags or seran wrap for leftovers or to pack lunches. Kitchen nook was great for hanging out and eating with everyone. Ceiling fans kept the 90 degree heat bearable. Great location with the creek in the back. We rode our bikes down to the river a few blocks away multiple times. We slept with the door open on the balcony and could only hear the highway noise a bit. Very cute cabin decor, but with our group of 10, including a couple toddlers, we had to move some of the decor aside to have more space. We had a large family reunion and family members stayed at a Packwood hotel. We spent much less by renting here. Plus the place enhanced our trip by everything it offered. Thanks for sharing it with us.

great location for Mt. Rainier hiking

  • 4 of 5

We traveled to Portland for my son's wedding, then up to Mt. Rainier for several days. This cabin was in a great location, close to great hiking in the park, and between Portland and Seattle. Beautiful hiking and scenery in the national park, about 10 miles away - close enough that we packed lunch and spent each day in the park. We loved cooking s'mores at the firepit behind the cabin at night. It was exceptionally hot (mid-90's) the week we were there. It cooled down outside at night, but only 1 room upstairs has a window that opens, so the cabin didn't cool down well.
