About the property

3 Bedroom, 3 Bathrooms, Sleeps 7, Beach Front Property With Pool

• Now With Reliable Cable Internet 5Mbps download / 1.5 Mbps Upload.

Tropical fun, adventure, and relaxation await you and your family and friends. There are a variety of excellent surf spots starting with the beach break just past the pool. The natural beauty of Costa Rica is served up inside and out in this beautifully designed home located close to town, but far from anything you have ever seen in this area of Costa Rica. The open architecture takes advantage of the incredible setting. The home feels light and airy with great views from almost every window. Lush gardens and the sweeping sand beach are seamlessly joined by natural trees and plants.

Comfort! Each bedroom has a dedicated air conditioner, fan, screened windows and sliding glass doors. The beds, interior, and exterior furniture are excellent quality and very comfortable. Much of the furniture was built by local craftsmen. The family room, dining room, kitchen, and upstairs seating area have ceiling fans, and screened windows and doors.

Playa Dominical and the nearby coastal town of Uvita have loads of restaurants featuring local flavors and casual dining. The variety of eateries bring out the international diversity of people who have found their way to this fantastic, tropical beach town. The community of Dominical is very welcoming and the authentic Costa Rican, Pura Vida vibe abounds. There are no casinos, high rise hotels, or fancy nightclubs; but Dominical does have a great night life based on people coming together to eat, drink, dance, and socialize in the casual atmosphere of this south Pacific beach town. The place has something surprising and pleasant for people of every age.

The home and surrounding environment is very family and child friendly, designed to make it easy for people to spend time together in paradise. It is important to remember as with all Pacific beaches and resorts, young children should be supervised while playing in the ocean or pool. The beach at low tide is expansive and inviting. Sunrises and sunsets are often spectacular. You will find much of what you have dreamed of Costa Rica, right here at Caballitos del Mar (Little horses of the Sea)..

Caballitos Del Mar North sits adjacent to two other villas (Caballitos Del Mar Central and South) that were built in a similar fashion. The three villas are private and can be rented separately or, for large groups conducting weddings or reunions, they can be rented all together. And while the beach out front is public, it is rarely visited by tourists or locals. For most of your stay, you’ll have the sand and waves all to yourself. Each villa can sleep as many as seven adults.

Guestbook comments from the manager

To put this house & this vacation into words is quite difficult,,,,,there are no words to describe the beauty, serenity, calmness, magnificence, location, amenities, cleanliness....etc, etc.....I absolutely love this place.....Last year our entire family(6 of us) rented the middle house, and loved it, so this year we decided to go back. Unfortunately it was already rented...bummer, but Federico assured me that this house is just as nice. He was so, so correcto!!!! This year we had Jennifer arrange a chef to come in, cook us a typical Tico meal. It was wonderful & so fun having someone cook in our house. Jennifer also did the grocery shopping for that dinner which was nice. Jennifer also arranged for massages in our house & that was splendid. These 2 women who did the massages were fantastic.....everyone should do this for sure!!!! We visited waterfalls nearby, walked along the beach many, many times daily, swam & relaxed in the pool, and just enjoyed the beautiful sounds of this place. I also love Jennifer's dog, and I miss her so...We found some great new resturants like ?Porque No? and Roca Verde was super good, and the restaurant at Cuna del Angel was superb. Horseback riding on the beach was breath-taking, and the snorkeling at Cano island is also a must...I could go on & on, but I think you now understand what a vacation at this place would be like.....Oh, I forgot the surfing....that was a blast!!!!! See y'all soon...Pura Vida....

Great House

  • 4 of 5

The house is amazing. It is very well built and has all the amenities you could need. The beach is beautiful and this is one of the few places available to rent that is on the beach. You are very close to the highway so you can hear the compression brakes of the trucks, but if the windows are closed you can’t really hear them. The only reason my rating is four stars instead of five is because of the undisclosed PayPal fees you get charged when you rent it. We have been traveling through Central America for almost 4 month now, renting places either through AirBNB or VRBO. This is the first time I have been charged fees that aren’t disclosed when you submit the reservation request. In the grand scheme of things, we aren’t talking huge amounts of money. I was charged just under $30 for the reservation payment - it is more the principle and the fact that my complaint was ignored. The fee was disclosed to me by the property manager in an email after I booked. I said I didn’t agree with the fee. He said he would talk to the owner. Nothing. Then at check in it came up again. I again stated my position and was again told the owner would contact me about it. Again nothing. Then at check out I was told I could pay it in cash right then or it would get deducted from my damage deposit but deducting it from my damage deposit (which was my preference) would delay my refund (which doesn’t make any sense to me since it’s a matter of inputting a total into PayPal). So we scrambled to come up with exact change. Three days passed and I saw no mention of my damage deposit being refunded so I sent the property manager and the owner an email and they refunded it the next day. $300 less $13.50 PayPal fee! I rented a place in Panama last month that also had a damage deposit requirement. He refunded me the $300 via PayPal without taking a fee. I fail to understand the difference and so far neither the owner or the property management group has found it worth their time to explain.

A slice of perfection beyond all expectations

  • 5 of 5

Like everything else that is beautiful in Costa Rica - pictures do not do this place justice. Just like the Nauyaca Waterfalls are more stunning in person, Arenal Volcano is more stunning in person, a zip line is more exhilarating in person, this house is absolutely stunning in person on every level.

It is one of the only properties in the Dominical area that sits on the beach side of the highway. Look at the map view and you will see this is true. The pacific ocean is so close, you can roll out of bed in the morning and crawl to it without breaking a sweat. And that is essentially what I did every morning to start my day. I must say it beats my "normal" routine of taking the NYC Subway to work. Pura Vida.

The home is beautifully decorated, with smart and user friendly details all over the place - like a huge stack of fresh towels, modern appliances and dishes, an outdoor shower (!), a BBQ, a washer/dryer (not mentioned in the listing but a HUGE bonus), individual AC in each room - a sign that the owners care about your experience and want you to enjoy it. The cherry on top? A nice tidy up every day by the on-prem caretaker Nora. This is what I call hotel luxury without the hotel BS.

Regarding the area: Dominical town has a lovely feeling of being small and off the grid, yet has everything you need for conveniences: an ATM, supermarket, gas station, groceries, restaurants, bars, coffee etc. If you surf, there are tons of great breaks nearby that range in size experience level. Also some great attractions like the Nauyaca Waterfalls, Uvita, whale watching, Alturas Wildlife Sanctuary...

If you are looking for a one of a kind experience in an absolutely stunning home in Costa Rica that will create a lifetime of good memories, do yourself a favor and book this property. It is that good.

Perfection!

  • 5 of 5

We had a tremendous time during our recent visit. We are a family of 5 including two teenage boys and a grandmother. We were very comfortable in the house. The beach is perfection, Jorge and Cindy are very helpful and the town had everything we wanted. Definitely, check with the landlord if internet is necessary for your visit. We are self employed so we had to check business daily...we found the internet to be spotty but the landlord is working on fixing this.

A Dream Come True.

  • 5 of 5

I can not say enough about this House and the location. It was absolutely amazing. there were 4 of us that stayed here for 5 days. The Location was perfect and centralized for the outings and excursions we wanted to do. To be able to wake up in the morning and go to bed at night with the sound of the ocean was just what we needed. Having our own private pool was a great added bonus. The house had a very nice and spacious kitchen and was well stocked with cooking equipment so I was able to cook something in the mornings and make coffee before we headed out for the day. The house was spotless and clean and fresh. And a big thank you to Steve who meet us upon check in and walked us through everything and even hooked us up with an ATV tour. And also a Big thank you to Jose and Cindy who live on the premises and took wonderful care of us.

My only regret is 5 days was not long enough for my husband and I, we are already making plans to return to Costa Rica and will be staying in this exact location. truly this was a dream come true. !!

Holiday family vacation

  • 5 of 5

It's not easy to find a house with a pool on the beach but caballitos del mar is it. The house is very spacious and sits just back from the beach near Dominical. There are three houses in the spot but with some careful landscaping you hardly notice the other two. The beach is just outside of the back garden across a small flat area which we later realized is a dirt road allowing access to the beach to locals. It was clear from the description that the beach is public so we weren't surprised that there were people there and with the landscaping you wouldn't know it unless you were down on the beach. The beach is beautiful, very wide and with large rocks that allow for pools of water at low tide. The beach goes right up to the dirt road and the high tide does too, so there is never any 'soft sand', it's always the semi wet sand of low tide which is why it would have been nice to have some beach chairs. It's not really a spot where you'd throw down a towel and sit for an hour (it's too hard). But it was great for yoga on the beach, long walks and jogs. The pool is terrific, but lacks enough seating for 6 (the house sleeps 6 at least) and therefore you can't be comfortable all around the pool. The outdoor table and chairs are not at all comfortable for any length of time (they're wood dining chairs with no cushion). The ONLY down side was the lapse in comfort as above mentioned (pool and beach chairs) and for example the bedside lamps in the master bedroom don't work at all. They've been jury-rigged so that you have to get out of bed to unplug the lamp to turn it off or on. This could be so easily rectified with some folding lounge chairs or cushions and a small investment in the furnishings. The beds were comfortable which is not as easy as it sounds. It may be the first time I find that in a rental house. Neil and Stephen were great. Very reactive and there to greet us and see us off (even at 6:30 am). There are numerous restaurants around and the recommendations from Neil and Stephen were all good. The activities they organized (snorkeling, horseback ride to the falls and kayaking) were all REALLY great. They recommended we get a car service from the airport in San Jose and use Omar at SOLID car rental for our car. GREAT choice. Solid delivered and picked up the car to our door and the 3+hour drive to/from the airport was taken care of. All in all an amazing time and impressive service.
