About the property

3 bedroom/2 bath lakefront cottage

Our lakefront cottage is called "Remember When".

Remember when life was simpler during those family get-a-ways to the lake? You can recreate yesteryear when retreating to "Remember When". Extensive upgrades and renovations were just completed in March of 2016! This lakefront home offers stunning views and quiet lakefront living.

You'll love the wood planked walls, wood ceilings, and wood floors, along with the wide open lakefront vistas through the many large windows. A spacious deck off the sun room offers commanding views of the lake. At about 30 feet in elevation above the lake level, you will love spending leisure time here, both day and night!

The large dock has both open and covered areas. The covered areas are great during the summer mid-day heat and during a passing rain shower. Plenty of space for fishing on this 80 foot wide x 45 foot deep dock area!

One of the two covered boat slips is available for your boat with advance notice. If you have jet skis, bring them along as you have use of two jet ski lifts. There is even a lake level platform for easy access to your kayak or canoe! A Leon County maintained cement boat ramp with 2 floating docks is available nearby down the street.

Two bedrooms and one full bath are located on the main level. There is a downstairs, ground level, "walk out basement" bedroom with lots of extra sleeping space. This downstairs bedroom has it's own covered AND screened-in lanai. A nice place to hang out during the mid day sun or passing rain shower! This particular downstairs space offers privacy and separation for an extra couple or or adult kids.

For the convenience of coming off the dock or lake along with the ground floor bedroom, there is a new outdoor covered and private bathroom that features a hot/cold shower, toilet and sink, each in it's own room. Even a sitting area! This is located at the entrance to the walkout basement bedroom. There is a covered walkway from the downstairs bedroom to the outdoor bathroom in case it rains. You'll love how this new addition enhances lake life and even makes you feel like you're in the mountains!

There are just 3 steps up to the main level front door. The downstairs is located down some exterior stairs at ground level as well. "Remember When" is advantageous for folks that prefer not to navigate lots of stairs.

The front of the home offers plenty of parking, even for your boat trailer. Please call or email us anytime, day or night, with any questions or to secure your lakefront get-a-way. We'd love for you to create memories at our lake house so that you'll also fondly "Remember When".

About Glenn Smith

We both grew up in the Lake Talquin area, with Lawson in Gadsden County, which borders the north shore of Lake Talquin, and Glenn in nearby Tallahassee. Lawson has wonderful memories of when her family owned a home on Lake Talquin during the 1960s and '70s.

We're thrilled to continue making memories with our adult kids and grandkids at a lake house and a lake that is frozen in time. We'd love to host you or your family for a couple's weekend or a family outing. Thank You for considering a stay at our cottage, "Remember When"!

Why Glenn Smith chose Florida North Central

We chose this home due to it's superb location on a gentle bluff at the large part of the lake. The custom built features and details of the cute cottage, breathtaking views, and the dock's extra large living areas sold us right away! The convenience to Tallahassee and the beaches are an added bonus!

What makes this cottage unique

What makes this cottage special is the charm and the interior's attention to details. In addition, the lake life is enjoyable from both inside the home and throughout the large lake level living spaces!

well kept, lots of outside seats, swings etc., nice dock on the lake

My husband and I stayed in March 2017. The house is small but very clean and tidy just like the pictures, the kitchen is well stocked with all the essentials you would need but forget to bring. The fenced in yard was great, so many nice areas to sit and relax and enjoy the view of the lake, loved the swings! The dock was well kept and excellent for fishing off of. The only downfall would be the stairs going from the house to the dock, while well maintained, by the end of the week we were feeling it, but thats the price you pay when you live on the lake. Overall it was a lovely place and we would go back. Eat at the Whip!

Fantastic view and a fun time...

  • 5 of 5

We spend five nights at Remember When this March. What a great view and what a comfortable place. We spent more time outside than inside. Great outdoor living space and an excellent dock - caught lots of bream and catfish. I particularly enjoyed the outdoor shower! The house was fully equipped and we didn't find ourselves in need of anything. Its close enough to Tallahassee that it's an easy run into the grocery store or a restaurant; But it feels worlds removed!

Heaven at the Lake

  • 5 of 5

This is a wonderful place to rest and recharge. There are four separate outdoor areas, each one overlooking Lake Talquin. You can choose the deck, the screen porch, the swing and picnic area, or the dock, right out on the water. It is accessible for walking in the water as well as kayaking or boating. There is a glassed in sun room, affording a view of the lake from inside, during inclement weather. I chose to sleep there and was treated to the sunset, the stars at night, then in the morning, watching the sky fade to gray, then the colors of the sunrise, and then the dawn chorus of the many birds who live in the trees over the property. Everything is bright and new. The views are spectacular. The entire place is beautifully landscaped. My brother, the cook, found everything he needed to create delicious meals. The dog, Hobo, had a lovely fenced in yard and a fabulous time. The weekend passed too quickly. The Lawsons are extremely friendly and accommodating. What a peaceful and delightful place!

Love Remember When

  • 5 of 5

This place is great! It is well equipped with everything you will need for your stay. The views off of the multiple decks/sitting areas are AMAZING!! The dock is very large and comfortable with a great fish cleaning station. The owners are AMAZING!! They want you to have a the best time while enjoying "Remember When" and it did remind me of staying in lake houses like this up in Wisconsin when I was a child. This is our favorite of all the Lake Talquin houses we have stayed in and we will come back!!

Lake Talquin is known for it's trophy largemouth and striped bass, crappie, bream, shellcrackers, speckled perch, striped pickerel (commonly called "jack"), gar, catfish, and bowfin.

There is a Leon County maintained boat ramp down our street with floating docks on both sides. Lake Talquin is excellent for fishing, boating, kayaking, water skiing, tubing, or simply enjoying the lake in any type of weather on both our covered and open dock!

Tallahassee and Florida State University are a short drive down Highway 20, (Pensacola Street), at roughly 15 miles to the city limits and 20 miles to F.S.U.

Restaurants are located throughout Tallahassee or Quincy.

The closest beach is at Alligator Point, about 45 minutes away. Carrabelle and St. George Island are not far either at roughly an hour.
