Carl and I both have roots to Wisconsin as that is where we grew up and went to school. We lived in small family businesses our whole lives. Mine was the grocery business and Carl electrical manufacturing. Currently, Carl is a shareholder of 2 family businesses in Pulaski, WI. After we bought the property, the decision was made to move to Houghton and live on the property in order to fulfill our dream of building a camp. Our work continues to grow day in and day out with the many opportunities this property gives us.
The Rental includes 3 bedroom, 2 full bathrooms, large living room, full kitchen with an island, washer and dryer, ac/furnace, wood burning stove for additional heat and ambience.

About Carl & Michelle Treankler
The story begins with my husband's son attending Michigan Tech. After his first year he wanted to live off campus. Advising him to find a property that he could fix up and then possibly sell after he graduated, Carl's son began the hunt; but with many dead ends. When we told the realtor to open it up to see what was out there, this magnificent property came to light. Sitting on 220 acres, with a 10 acre lake, it was 'love' at first site. My husband purchased the property and 3 months later brainstormed the idea of starting an outdoor bible camp for high school kids, church groups, or sport teams. Already being a big supporter to Camp Luther, in Three Lakes, WI, Carl started the plan to make this area their base camp. With an old barn that hunters used stayed in, an old homestead, a 600 square foot cabin, and a double wide home residing on the property, it became clear there was much work to be done. Having the vision of creating something great, we began the construction of a pavilion, addition to cabin, and complete gut out of the barn. With these projects done, new ones continue to begin in transforming the property into a premiere camp for kids. Future projects consist of high/low ropes course, zip line, frisbee golf, basketball court, welcome center, and additional camp sites. The barn stands alone as it is a quarter mile away from the camp. Looking out from the upper deck on the barn, you can enjoy watching the geese fly in on the pond that also lies on the property. A great spot to watch some wildlife. The newly renovated double wide has been turned into a Love Palace Home, hence why we call it the LP and sits right on the private lake called Love Lake. Bookings are on a FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE basis!

Why Carl & Michelle Treankler chose Atlantic Mine
With many apple trees on the property, you can go out and pick apples then enjoy making your very own apple pie or cider. The 10 acre lake provides great catch and release fishing of brook trout, rainbow trout, brown trout, and walleye. Oh, and did I mention the name of the lake is called 'Love Lake.'

Great place to stay, everything was as described.
Came here to snowmobile the Keweenaw for the first time and it did not disappoint. House was good, no issues, no complaints.
Exceptional - Pictures don't do this cabin justice!
On the weekend of 2/16/18 I put together a Father / Son snowmobile trip. We had 6 men and this cabin was just the right size for all of us to have our own sleeping spaces. All of us agreed that the photos on the website didn't do this cabin justice. This is a beautiful cabin! The location is a ten minute drive to Houghton, which has a great down town. We rode the roads edge for 2.5 miles to the snowmobile trail. The first day we covered 200 miles and the entire Upper Peninsula. The second day we rode another 175 miles and got as far South as Lake of the Clouds. The snow amounts were great and I can't wait to come back to this beautiful location.
Awesome owners and property manager.
Had a little bad luck when we arrived but after contacting property manager and then communication with owners, the issue was rectified swiftly and graciously. I feel we were treated very well and hope that they also think we treated their property respectfully. We were there to snowmobile and the trail was further away than I would have liked but it was accessible. Nice accommodations overall and would like to stress the cooperation and friendliness of owners Carl and Michelle.
Perfect Winter Getaway!
We had an amazing time at The Love Palace. It was perfect for our snowboarding and snowmobiling trip! Michelle and Carl were extremely nice and made sure we had everything we needed! 10/10 recommend any of their properties! Thank you for the great stay!
Comfortable and spacious with log cabin appeal
Needed a place that would suit all ages and be spacious enough to invite friends to stay. Close to sunsets at the breakers or a drive on covered road, very picturesque . We brought our family for a college reunion, the home was exactly what we wanted (..the UP north feel, with air conditioning and wifi..).
Peace on Love Lake
Great property and cabin is well set up. Newly remodeled and comfortable. Very relaxing! Owners are responsive and helpful. Thanks Carl and Michelle, hope to see you again!
