About Edward & Rebecca Russell

A Syracuse University professor and elementary music teacher, the Russell's have traveled the world, lived in Europe for six years and first fell in love with the Adirondacks in 1975. Their two adult daughters also love the great outdoors.

We purchased the property on Thanksgiving 2005 and because of Rebecca's Norwegian heritage, the name Mange Takk just seemed perfect. This a a place of great peace and contentment for which we give "many thanks."

Picture perfect

  • 5 of 5

We returned back to mange tak for the third year in a row, this time bringing two other families with us. We had a fantastic time. The house was perfect for all adults and children and Ed was a gracious host as usual. He was extremely responsive and accommodating doing everything he could to ensure all details were taken care of. We lucked out with perfect weather and spend the week by the lake relaxing, swimming and boating. We are already looking forward to another week away again next year.

Relaxing week on Long Lake

  • 5 of 5

We spent a week at Mange Takk last summer (Aug. 2016) and decided to rent it again this summer. That should say a lot. It is kind of expensive, but it is beautiful, well maintained and we knew what we were getting. Refined living in a rustic setting. The location is great. The focus everywhere is on the lake. The swim dock is probably our favorite feature - morning coffee, evening cocktails and all day in between. The kitchen is modern, well equipped and spacious. We love the furniture and fixtures! Plenty of room for 4-6 people. Minor point but one thing it could use is an extra bathroom. I suspect the "office" was originally intended to be a half bath, which would be nice with a houseful of people.

The end of August in the Adirondacks starts flirting with fall temperatures and that's what we got. Nice enough during the day (upper 60's), but not warm enough to spend much time in the water. Cool evenings were perfect for a fire in the fireplace or fire pit.

Everyone was happy to return to Mange Takk and had a great week.

Owner's Response: Great having you back! You might get a kick knowing the office was the original kitchen and the spacious kitchen? The was both the living and dining room. We enlarged quite a bit! We're hoping to get that third bathroom down at the boathouse.
