About this property
Now booking Fall/Winter- Charming Beach View Cottage
Fall and winter are our favorite time in Laguna. The summer crowds thin out, the light goes gold before four, and the beach is just a walk down the hill rather than a fight for a parking spot.
Our home sits just high enough up from the water for sweeping 180-degree ocean views and a sunset every night, but close enough that the sand is only six blocks away on foot. You come in through a private entrance off Coast View Drive, and there's a garage of your own.
There's plenty of room to settle in across the fifteen hundred square feet. We put a wood-burning fireplace in the main living room, and from November on you'll be glad it's there. The west-facing sunroom is a second place to gather — it's where the dining table sits, along with a comfortable chair and a sleeper sofa for extra guests, and where you'll want to be as the sun goes down over the water. When you feel like cooking, the kitchen is a proper one, stocked for real meals. When work follows you here, there's an office nook with a printer.
The two bedrooms and bath-and-a-half are joined by a sleeping loft above the second bedroom, perfect for kids. We keep the beds in high thread-count linens.
Outside, the cabana is a quiet place to enjoy the garden, and there's a barbecue when you feel like grilling. A washer and dryer are inside the home, the Wi-Fi is fast, and the TVs are smart. We keep beach chairs, umbrellas, boogie boards, and toys in the garage, so there's nothing to pack or buy once you're here.
There's plenty to do beyond the beach. Laguna itself has casual and fine dining, shopping, art galleries, live music, and theatre within easy reach. You're centrally placed for day trips, too — Disneyland is about half an hour away, Los Angeles is roughly an hour up the coast, and San Diego a bit further down.
A few things worth knowing before you book. This is the upper of two homes in an up-and-down duplex, so you'll have neighbors below, who come and go through their own separate entrance, deck, and garage off Temple Hills. Laguna Beach requires a 31-day minimum in this neighborhood, so 31 nights is the shortest stay we can offer. And if you've noticed we don't have many reviews — that's the same rule at work. We host longer stays and use the house ourselves, so fewer stays mean fewer reviews.
Your dog is welcome with prior approval and a pet fee. We just ask that dogs stay off the beds and furniture, and there's a gravel area on the main level for them. Please pick up after your dog; excessive hair, stains, or odors will mean an added cleaning charge.
Our prices include all fees. No hidden fees.

Excellent location for easy walk to beach and town (and PCH restaurants). The house was exceptionally well equipped (just amazing) and the hosts were extremely responsive. Really ideal for a family getaway - we loved it.
We had an absolutely wonderful stay and couldn’t have been happier with this home! The owners were staying in the unit below for the first week and were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and accommodating throughout our stay. The house itself was even better than we imagined. It was the perfect size for our family of four and had so much charm, with a wonderful antique beach cottage feel that made it feel special and unique. The views are simply breathtaking and truly one of a kind.Everything was exceptionally clean, well maintained, and thoughtfully cared for. One of our favorite touches was the beautiful garden and lemon tree. Our kids absolutely loved picking fresh lemons, and we used them to make homemade lemonade and even cook with them. This home quickly felt like a home away from home, and we made so many wonderful family memories here. We are already looking forward to returning and highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a charming beach getaway with incredible views and wonderful hosts!

Great views in a beautiful city!
My husband, 2 year old and I stayed in the upper unit mid July to mid August. Upon arrival, we were pleasantly surprised by the view! You have a panoramic view of the ocean that is just amazing. We also felt it was a bit more spacious than the pictures depicted!
The unit had everything we needed for our month stay. It’s in a great location. We never walked the 6 blocks to the beach but you could have. We just didn’t want to tackle the hill with our 2 year old. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here! It did get a bit hot with the higher than usual temps and no A/C, but I don’t think you would find central air really anywhere in Laguna. We managed with fans and it always cooled down nicely at night. Also to note, the beds are extremely comfortable!!

One of the best views in the world.
I stayed a month here with my wife, 3 year old daughter and 1 year old son. We watched the sunset every night and it helped take our minds off the slab leak in our home. The hosts are very attentive and the neighbors are very kind. Only wish we could have spent more time relaxing and not working on our home.

Unbelievable View, Wonderfully Relaxing
I always enjoy visiting Laguna and this clean and cozy unit is perfect for the three of us. We've stayed in this unit several times over the years; love the easy living. Sunset drinks on the deck overlooking the best ocean view in Laguna isn't to be missed. The owners keep the kitchen well stocked with spices and other supplies which greatly simplifies shopping and cooking. Comfortable beds and high thread count linens make for a great sleep. We feel at home when we're there. Can't wait to go back.

Great place to stay in Laguna Beach
My 9 year old daughter and I had a wonderful few days staying in Laguna beach in this great garden cottage. It's central to all sorts of things to do in and around town and offers lovely views up and down the coast. My daughter really enjoyed the patio and plants in the garden - and of course the nearby beaches. The accomodations are really comfortable, cosy and well appointed. Would recommend very highly.

About the host
Hosted by Tracy or Chris
Chris and I are house fans! In addition to our Laguna beach house, we manage ski condos in Mammoth Lakes, and longer term rentals in Phoenix, Arizona.
Why they chose this property
We love our beach cottage. It is close enough to walk to the beach, but far enough up the hill that we have these fabulous views with sunsets every night. The house, built in 1920, was one of the original houses on the hill, so we have tried to maintain the original character while updating it with today's comforts.
What makes this property unique
Serene coastal retreat in Laguna Beach offers stunning ocean views, year-round sunshine, and refreshing breezes. Ideal escape from the summer heat with two bedrooms and baths.
