About Charles and Leigh Moore

We are the Moore family and want to welcome you to share our mountain! Charles grew up in the mountains of East Tennessee, and purchased 1000 acres around the home a few years ago, because when he saw this, he felt it was the loveliest view he had seen in the Eastern US, and wanted to preserve it. Charles has his own company and is Tennessee and Vanderbilt grad. We use this home as a ministry to couples who are having problems (especially financial) in their marriages and need to get away to refind the love they have always had for each other. You staying here is supporting that, and we are so thankful God has brought you here. Our hope and prayer is that you will feel peace, relaxation, and renewal, and that if you are married, you will rekindle that spark also!

Charles has 2 children (they are college age, thus the reason for our age requirements lol). Emily is a junior at the University of North Carolina, and Parker is a freshman at Walters State, soon to be on to Tennessee.

Charles family (both his mother's and father's sides) were some of the first families of Tennessee to settle in the the state, and quite possibly walked across this property to make their new frontier home. You can see we have an affinity for orange around here. Charles has had 8 direct generations having graduated from UT since it was a college in 1796.

Please be sure and leave your comments for us, and we have a prayer book for you to leave your requests in also. We have a new blank page every time, so don't worry about anyone else seeing it but us! Y'all have a good time, and dont mind the moonshiners and occasional bear that may wonder by!

What makes this house unique

We just added a new 4 person out under the stars Hot Tub!!! Most romantic place ever!!

Amazing views of the mountains and total seclusion.

  • 5 of 5

The actual home and property exceed the description and pictures on the web site. The home is very well equipped and is maintained very well.

The view from the upper and lower decks / porches was amazing. The entire time we were there we never saw another person. The house is totally secluded. Charles, the home owner was very prompt answering our questions and he personally met us in town and guided us to the home since it was getting dark when we arrived. Charles gave us a thorough tour of the home and ensured we knew how to operate everything. When we left, we accidentally left our camera case in the home and Charles contacted us and mailed it back to us. We would definetly recommend that anyone renting this property have a 4 wheel drive vehicle in order to get up the drive way. We have already recommended the property to several of our friends that are looking for a secluded getaway.

Breathtaking

  • 5 of 5

We booked this house for a girls trip to enjoy all this area has to offer. The owner was incredibly helpful and welcoming. We spent time hiking and exploring the mountains around the home and in Rocky Fork State Park. The owner recommended USA Raft in Erwin and we are so glad we decided to give it a try. This property offers incredible beauty and seclusion while still offering easy travel access to Asheville or other smaller towns. We highly recommend this amazing retreat to anyone wanting to enjoy nature and have an all around great experience!

A great place! You won't be disappointed!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I were looking for a quiet, scenic getaway, and we found it atop a mountain in Flag Pond, TN! The pictures of the view from the house are accurate. The scenery is gorgeous! The back of the home overlooks the mountains and the front of the home is surrounded by lush woods. There is plenty of porch space, tables, chairs, loungers, rockers, hammocks, a hot tub, etc. to enjoy the view. The inside of the home is also very nice, very comfortable, and very clean. There is ample seating and room if you are with a group, but the house doesn't seem too large if it's "just the two of you." We found the owner very helpful in orienting us to the locale and to the home itself. He has provided notebooks with brochures of the plethora of activities available in the area -- both in Tennessee and North Carolina. There is information for all ages and interests right in the home, so planning our days was easy. The owner returned communication promptly and was very conscientious that we have a good stay and find everything to our liking, which we did. If you are looking for seclusion, appreciate incredible scenery right in your backyard, and still want to be within reasonable driving distance of Asheville and Johnson City, this is the home for you. It's a great place! You won't be disappointed!

Perfect Stay Away From it All

  • 5 of 5

Our group of seven spent New Years weekend at this property and couldn't have asked for more! The cabin is clean, spacious and has everything you need for a carefree mountain vacation. The view from the cabin is INCREDIBLE. Even with chilly temperatures, we spent a lot of time outside taking in the view and walking around the property.

Aware of its seclusion and the haul up the driveway, we brought everything we would need for our three night stay and had no problem cooking meals for the group between the fully equipped kitchen and grills. We played board games and pool, watched movies and just enjoyed "checking out" while we were there.

The owner, Charles, was extremely helpful. He knows the area very well and can give great recommendations as far as nearby hiking trails, parks, restaurants, etc. if you want to venture out. We will definitely be returning!
