Why Mike Bell chose Kalkan
We have been looking for sometime for a place in the sun. Kalkan and its surrounding areas are beautiful, relaxing, and exciting. The weather is just perfect and the people are so friendly and helpful. Villa Hilal is situated on the mountainside above Kalkan town and on the edge of the village of Akbel, with a mix of traditional Turkish family houses and new contemporary villas. Here you will find everything you could want from the local village market on Sundays to small eating and drinking places, where you can enjoy the tasty local food, after the gentle 5 minutes stroll down from the Villa. There are mini markets selling most things you need. You will find the locals to be great hosts, very helpful and friendly.
What makes this Villa unique
The views from Villa Hilal are superb from all the rooms and the large terrace. The pool on the terrace has a small pool perfect for children or for those non swimmers who want to relax in the warm water and not miss out on the fun. There is a traditional charcoal BBQ and also the quick and easy convenience of a gas BBQ. A large Kosk lined with Turkish cushions provide the perfect spot for relaxation, evening drinks whilst watching the sun go down over Kalkan. The upper floor has the advantage of a roof terrace with unsurpassed views over Kalkan and to the west Patara beach, where in the evenings you can watch the sun set. The balcony also has elegant tables, chairs and a sofa for your complete relaxation.

Really nice villa with good size pool and plenty of space around the pool.
We really enjoyed our stay at this villa. There is quite a steep hill to drive up but you get used to it. Really appreciated welcome pack when we arrived. Amazing views from the villa. Top floor are even better views. Me and my family really enjoyed staying here and wouldn’t hesitate to stay at the villa again.
Fabulous views. Great pool. Very comfortable villa. Everything you need for a self-catering holiday.
We spent 9 nights at Villa Hilal in June 2018. The villa was spotlessly clean when we arrived. It was very comfortable accommodation. Although there were only 2 of us there was more than adequate furniture and equipment for 6 adults. The pool area is lovely and is unobtrusively maintained. It is a little more overlooked than we were expecting but this was not a problem. Mike, the owner responded quickly to any questions we had and gave helpful local information and good directions. A great holiday experience which we would thoroughly recommend.
We always welcome feedback from our guests . It is really important to us that they have a wonderful stay at Villa Hilal and we continually strive to maintain the high standards at the villa and invest in improvements. In particular we have work planned to improve privacy on the pool terrace which will be carried out before next season.
Credit is also due to our local management and maintenance team who are always on hand to ensure our guests are happy and deal quickly with any issues arising during their stay.
The villa is less than 5 minutes drive from Kalkan's attractive beach. The town has several beach clubs in stunning locations. Alternatively, a 10 minute dolmus ride (local minibus service) will take you to beautiful Kaputas beach, or a 20 minute ride takes you to the famous Patara beach with its 18km of white sand. Patara beach, set in a national park, has been voted one of the Med's most beautiful and undiscovered beaches. Olu Deniz beach, the most photographed in Turkey, is around an hour's drive.
The fascinating Lycian and Roman Xanthos city remains are about 15 minutes drive away and well worth a visit.
The nearest airport is Dalaman (approx 1.5 hour drive) and flights are direct from the UK. Transfer to and from the airport is usually by private car hire, taxi or minibus. We can help arrange transfers and car hire from Kalkan at very reasonable prices.
Kalkan town centre, 5 mins drive (2.5km). Kaputas beach, 15 min drive. Patara beach, 20 min drive. Kas, 30 min drive. Fethiye, under 1 hour drive. Other local attractions are easily accessible, such as Xanthos (the ancient capital of Lycia), the sunken city of Kekova, the ghost town of Kayakoy, the rock tombs of Tlos, Demre and the Church of St Nicholas (Father Christmas), the mountain villages of Islamlar and Bezirgan, and Saklikent Gorge. Daily boat trips from the harbour are also available.
