Bear Lodge is a classic log cabin home in Packwood, WA. Experience the magic and beauty of the Cascade Mountains and Mt. Rainier National Park in this beautifully built and immaculately maintained vacation cabin just outside of town. Have your ultimate mountain holiday in this 4 bedroom, 2.5 bathroom home. It's the ideal place for larger family getaways or several couples on an annual ski or hiking trip.

Sitting on wooded property, this luxuriously rustic and cozy cabin and peaceful setting is perfect for your vacation in the Cascade Mountains. After a wonderful day exploring Mt. Rainier National Park (only 8 miles away), hiking, fishing, hunting, or skiing, cook a fabulous meal in the fully equipped kitchen (or grill on the deck outdoors!) before sitting down for an elegant meal in the dining room where every meal feels like a special occasion. Cozy up in the large living room with a fire in the stone fireplace and share stories with your friends and family about the day's adventures. Out on the deck, a large hot tub makes for a delightful evening of stargazing and quiet relaxation. After a busy day of biking, hiking, skiing, or fishing, soak in the tub and listen to the sounds of nature in the secluded 3 acre back yard. We have over 60 movies on DVD and over 20 board games for your vacation entertainment!

This home also has wireless internet access, so if you must do some work on your vacation, you may do so in the comfort of the cabin, on the porch or in the hammock while you enjoy the natural beauty of the area. As cell service is "spotty" in the mountains, there is a land line for your convenience.

We are family friendly and even have a Graco 'Pack N Play' and a portable booster style high chair for your use. Our cabin is a smoke free environment (except for use of the fireplace). All linens are hypoallergenic (down alternative comforters).

Bear Lodge welcomes the truly young, the young at heart, the great adventurer and those just desiring a peaceful rest for the mind, body and soul!

Ski - only 20 miles from White Pass a paradise for downhill and cross country skiing, snowboarding, sledding and snowshoeing.

Visit National Parks - 8 miles from Mt. Rainier National Park and about 80 miles from Mt. St. Helen's National Monument.

Hike - There are no end of trails to hike, rivers to walk, vistas to view, and flora and fauna to enjoy. Surrounded by wilderness, you could spend years finding new trails. Our cabin is a half mile from the Gifford Pinchot National Forest - one of the oldest National Forests in the United States. It encompasses 1,312,000 acres!

Fish - Great fishing on the Cowlitz River and Skate Creek, only minutes from the cabin.

Hunt - Excellent hunting in the forests surrounding Packwood.

Arrival time is 5:00 pm and departure time is 10:00 a.m. We try to be as accommodating as we can be (a little more difficult during busy seasons) with the arrival and departure times. If your group needs an exception with the arrival or departure time, please feel free to inquire with your desired time changes, we will do our best to accommodate.

Come, sit and relax on one of our porches and enjoy a superb cup of the locally roasted coffee, while watching the elk graze at Bear Lodge. Please, be our guest; let our home be your home for a few days, a week, or longer if you can. We would be delighted to share the beauty of the beautiful Cascade mountains with you – and a home that will help you create the kind of memories you will relish for a lifetime!

About Kristen

We are very active in our communities both in Packwood and where we reside and work in the Puget Sound area. We have 3 wonderful children that are very excited to experience and enjoy more recreational activities and nature-time in Packwood and all of it's surrounding paradise. Our family loves to travel and have had multiple pleasurable experiences with staying in vacation rental homes. We have enjoyed our vacation rental experiences throughout the country so much, that we made the decision to own our own mountain retreat and share it with others like you. We hope you find Bear Lodge to be just as relaxing, peaceful and exhilarating for your soul as our family finds it to be!

Kristen purchased this cabin in 2013

Wonderful cabin

  • 5 of 5

We had a family Christmas with 5 adults, 2 kids. It was awesome. There was lots of room and tons of extra sleeping space. Much better equipped than your average vacation rental. Very clean. Loved all the kitchen accessories! And the service was outstanding. We appreciated the responsiveness and excellent customer service. We plan to come back!

Bear Lodge was a wonderful place for our three-day stay. Everything was clean and in working order. There was plenty of kitchenware, towels, firewood, etc! We really enjoyed staying in this cozy (though large) cabin in the woods!

Clean and well stocked.

  • 5 of 5

We had a really great time, the 8 of us. The cabin was large and spacious and very clean. The kitchen was stocked and ready to use, the selection of board games is impressive, and even though it was very hot outside, we enjoyed the back yard the most.

Plenty of places to sleep as long as you don't mind sharing close sleeping quarters.

The cabin is not secluded, but it's at the end of a road and there's plenty of trees to keep privacy in.

Awesome experience, highly recommended.

Owner's Response: Dear Verna, We are so happy that you had an excellent time at Bear Lodge! What a great idea to turn down the hot tub heater to cool off in the tub on the deck during the hot days! We'll have to try that ourselves. We welcome you back to Bear Lodge and Packwood and hope that you will stay with us again soon! Best regards, Rachael and Bear Lodge

Fabulous house; great location

  • 5 of 5

Bear Lodge was perfect for our party of 11 (6 adults and 5 kids). There was just enough sleeping room for everyone to be comfortable and plenty of common space for everyone to relax after a day of hiking. We all enjoyed the outdoor fire pit and hot tub. The kitchen is extremely well stocked for cooking. Kristen was great to work with and she was readily available to answer any questions. The proximity to Mt. Rainer National Park was wonderful and Packwood had your basic amenities. Highly recommend Mountain Goat Coffee.
