Villa in Addaya, Menorca, Balearic Islands - Set In Quiet Residential Area, 15 min stroll to local marina, 5 min drive to local beaches
We originate from Bath and now live just outside Windsor. We have owned a property in Addaya for the past 19 years, moving to Villa Florent early in 2014. We love the area and have enjoyed family holidays there with our boys since they were very small. We chose Menorca for many reasons including its attractiveness, many beaches, close proximity to the UK (under 2 hours flying time) and its quiet/peaceful reputation. All the above are still valid, but we have discovered many more reasons to stay as we are sure you will too.
Owner purchased this Villa in 2014
Why Owner chose Es Mercadal
Our first house in Addaya was very close to Villa Florent, which we passed many times whilst on quiet afternoon, early evening walks. Like many we dreamed of owning it, but never thought it would happen. That all changed in 2014, when we were lucky enough to buy it ! Villa Florent is in a very quiet cul-de-sac, close to the highest point in Addaya. It is spacious and airy inside, facing south, ensuring the sun is on the private pool from early morning to late in the day.
What makes this Villa unique
The south facing terrace and pool are our favourite things about the villa. We often spend balmy evenings eating straight from the BBQ on the terrace and cooling off in the pool. The house stays cool in the summer, protected from the sun by the terrace. Villa Florent is very close to the centre of Addaya, where there are three bars/restaurants, a supermarket and gift shop. The marina and its waterside restaurant are also a short walk away.

Lovely villa. Great pool. Perfect location
Our stay at Sarah's villa was great with the lovely pool the highlight for the kids! Great location and quiet yet just a few min walk from a few shops and restaurants. Having our babies cot set up for when we arrived was really thoughtful and helpful after our journey!
Thank you for such a positive review Amy. Glad you all enjoyed your time in the villa.
Lovely, well positioned and spacious villa providing a great base to explore the island.
Having been to this area of Menorca and stayed in a variety of different accommodation a number of times, this villa didn't disappoint. Set in a peaceful location, it was ideal for exploring both Addaya and more widely (for which we'd say a car is essential) while also giving the family (4 of us) space to relax comfortably.
The pool was great for cooling off and the terraces retained the sunshine in places until well into the evening. The loungers were really comfortable.
Although no air-con, the ceiling fans were great - and also very quiet (much appreciated when they had to be on all night!).
The kitchen was good for rustling up the odd meal and the provision of a washing line rather than just an airer was also very helpful.
The only criticism - and it is really quite small - is that for a property of this spec, it would be helpful/anticipated to have had a supply of washing up liquid and dishwasher tablets sufficient for the period of stay along with a few basics (salt & pepper, olive oil, kitchen foil, cling film) so that each set of guests doesn't have to go out and buy packs which, even when buying the smallest available, are far to large to be used during the stay so meaning considerable amounts of each product had to be left behind.
In summary we had a great 2 weeks holiday and would look to stay here again - although for next year unfortunately the dates we wanted aren't available.
Thank you Jane for forwarding such wonderfully positive comments about our villa, Addaya and the island as a whole. So happy to hear you and your family enjoyed yourselves.
Thank you also for your suggestions regarding condiments, etc. We will certainly bear this in mind for the future.
Great to hear you would like to return next year, only sorry we are unable to accommodate due to date-clashes. Sincerely hope we can welcome you again in the future.
Large, well laid out villa, excellent pool in great quiet location.
We had a lovely week here, nice and quiet, kids spent a lot of time in the pool, great beach a short drive away and a fab Tapas bar 5 mins walk away.
Thanks Kate for such a positive review, glad you and your family enjoyed your week at the villa, July 2018
A fantastic villa in a lovely peaceful location.
Great location, very peaceful and quiet which is what we all wanted! The kids loved playing in the pool and we enjoyed relaxing on the sunloungers :0) Lovely, traditional villa, perfect for the family and we will definitely be back!
Thank you for such a lovely review Kay, so glad you all enjoyed your time at the villa.
We are a family of 4 and have just come back from a lovely week in August staying at this villa. The villa is fantastic with lots of character and plenty of space (with all the amenities you need). The owners were very easy to book through and provided all the info you needed for your stay. The pool and outside space is also great and we spent a lot of time cooling off from the August sunshine in the pool (a big hit with the kids). The location is also perfect in our view... 5 min walk to a couple of great restaurants (the corner cafe does brilliant tapas, book in high season and there is a very good Indian with outside bar). You are also 5 mins from port Addaia which really is lovely and there is a great cafe just next to the boats/sea front and we enjoyed a couple of evenings there. You are a quick car ride from a selection of fabulous beaches, Son Parc was our favourite as its a large beach with white sands, shallow sea (safe for children), a couple of good cafes and easy snorkelling. We also loved Fornells (took a boat ride from here and enjoyed walking around the narrow streets and eating here, it has so much charm), Es Gras (beach right next to a small village, very nice) and Cavalleria (red sands beach which we loved). I 100% recommend this villa, location and the lovely island of Menorca. Its perfect for families in particular.
Thank you Emma for taking time out to post such a positive review. I am so glad that you and your family enjoyed the villa, the immediate surroundings and the island of Menorca as a whole.
brilliant well appointed and located
Thank you so much for awarding 5 stars. Glad to hear you were happy with the villa and location.
Special interest holidays:
Diving and RYA courses are available locally. Further details can be obtained through the Menorcan tourist office.
Fornells, just up the coast, has sailing and windsurfing classes and offers a variety of water sports.
Horseriding enthusiasts can find stables near Son Parc, just a 10 min drive away.
A portion of the Cami de Cavalls (the coastal path around the island) walking/cycling path passes through Addaia and the island, as a whole, is ideal for all walkers and cyclists.
You are never far from a beach in Menorca (one beach for every day of the year). Na Macaret is just a 5 minute drive away. 500m beyond that is Arenal d'en Castell - one of the finest beaches on the island. The beach of Son Parc is a 10 mins drive away and is somewhat quieter than Arenal. Another great beach is Son Bou, about 20 mins drive. Fornells is 15 mins away and is just the place to visit if you fancy a stroll along the promenade.
Villa Florent is only 15 minutes drive from the airport and the capital, Mahon. Car hire is highly recommended as it provides you with the freedom to tour the whole island at your leisure. There are numerous car hire companies on the island all offering very competitive prices.
Na Macaret (1.5km) little fishing village with 2 good restaurants. Fornells (9km) typical fishing town built around the harbour. Many restaurants, bars & shops. Alaior (10km) typical Menorcan village with lots of character, great for pottering around. Lots of shops plus the nearest supermarket. Mahon (15km) the capital with its famous port. Great for restaurants and shopping. Market days Sat & Tues. Cuitadella (40km) the old capital with lots of historical interest and striking architecture.
Villa Florent is a 5 minute stroll away from a mini-market (fresh bread baked daily), newsagents/souvenir shop and 3 bar/restaurants. The marina is a leisurely 15 minute walk away and has a restaurant/bar which serves meals, tapas and snacks. There are also plenty of other very good restaurants just a short drive away. A two minute drive takes you to a tennis club in Coves Noves and for those who enjoy horse-riding, stables are a 5 kilometres drive away, close to Son Parc. There are a couple of good water parks near Cuitadella and water sports are available at both Arenal and Fornells.
