Hale Pama (House of Palms) is located in Hawaiian Paradise Park, conveniently and centrally located to quickly access the Puna District's beautiful Red Road coast, beaches and state parks, Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, historic old town Hilo, restaurants, farmer's markets, museums, tropical gardens and the Big Island's east coast.

Hale Pama is nestled within a small Ohia forest, populated with palms and tropical landscaping, located privately away from the host's main home, also on the same property. When you're not out exploring the Big Island, you can relax in comfortable luxury in Hale Pama.

Big Island visitors come to explore and relax, but more and more our world is connected. Hale Pama is served by solid T-Mobile, Verizon and ATT wireless service. High speed internet service is provided at no additional charge by wifi. For those evenings when you want to relax and watch a movie, you can choose a title from our DVR library or HBO premium high definition movie service on DISH satellite plus streaming video from Netflix and Amazon. Watch your selection on a 48” flat screen UHDTV.

A mini-split heat pump system provides ultra quiet air conditioning on days when required. Due to the extremely high cost of electricity in Hawaii, there is a $3.00/day surcharge for the use of the air conditioning system, payable on arrival or as needed on a daily basis.

If you prefer to prepare your own meals, you may do so efficiently and quickly. A small refrigerator, microwave, convection counter top oven and induction skillet are provided in the well equipped wet bar area. A five burner propane gas-fired barbeque is available on the north lanai.

Hale Pama Rental Terms:

Payment in Full in advance. Directions and street address will be provided with confirmation of rental.

Full refund if cancellation occurs 30 days before scheduled arrival. 50% refund at 16-29 days before arrival. No refund if cancelled within 15 days of arrival.

Two day minimum rental. Stay six days and receive an additional day free. An additional $10.00 per night for a third guest.

House Rules:

No loud parties.

No smoking of any kind inside; permitted outside on lanai.

No pets.

We have a minimal $30.00 cleaning fee. We ask you to wash your dishes daily and be respectful of our property.

County Transient Tax ID # W34189828-01. The Hawaii hotel tax is not collected by VRBO. We collect the 14.3% room tax on arrival separately from your VRBO payment.

Check in 2:00pm or later, on day of arrival. The gate code will be emailed to you shortly before the day of your arrival.

Check out 11:00 am on day of departure.

Why Charles Wood chose Keaau

Centrally located and newly constructed Hale Pama (Jan-2016) has been purposely designed for comfort year round. An interior space of 500 square feet provides comfortable accommodation for three adults. Unlike most construction in Hawaii, Hale Pama is thoroughly insulated for quiet and comfort. A coated concrete floor remains cool year round. Ceiling fans are provided in the bedroom, living area and on each lanai. The main bedroom will be configured as two twin beds or one king bed to meet your preference before your arrival. A Serta sofa bed is provided for a third guest. A $10.00USD fee per night is collected on arrival for a third person along with the appropriate Hawaiian Transient Accommodation and General Excise Tax.

What makes this bungalow unique

Your host, Charles Wood, is an accomplished landscape, nature and travel photographer. Charles can provide photographic tours of the Big Island along with photographic instruction to raise your photography skills to a higher level. Or, if you're an experienced photographer, he can take you to stunning shooting locations off the beaten path. Onsite fine art photographic printing is available. You can take home professionally printed images of your stay in Hawaii.

17 mile drive to access the trailhead for hiking to the lava flow at Kalapana. Five miles to supermarkets, US post office, FedEX/UPS drops, restaurants, fast food, gasolene/petrol, at Keaau or Pahoa. Two miles to convenience store and gasoline at Orchidland Drive.

Amazing!!

If you are looking for a cozy stay while in Hawaii, this is your place! Morning coffee on the lanai overlooking the beautiful yard was the best way to start the morning! Everything you need was included in the accommodations. Highly recommend!!

They Thought of Everything!

This is a lovely property. The cottage is well situated for privacy. Everything a visitor might need was provided. Charles and Kathy are gracious hosts. I live on the Big Island; but If you're visiting from off-island, this location is convenient for day trips to Volcano, Hilo, Pahoa, and any other East Hawaii destination.

Beautiful and private place...

We stayed at this property on the second week of our BI trip. One week on the west side, one week on the east side. This property is very convenient for exploring north and south on the east side and it is close to Hilo. The property is very well constructed and is beautiful inside. They have thought of everything and this made our stay great. The bungalow is out of sight from the main house and you can’t see any neighbors. It’s very private.

We would definitely stay here again!

Perfect Place to Stay!

We enjoyed staying at Charles & Kathy's cottage so much! Everything was provided as promised. We were super comfortable and always looked forward to coming back every evening. It was very quiet and private. We ate most of our meals here because it was such a great setting and the fantastic BBQ and the wonderful kitchen were so great to use. There were so many great sites to visit that were not far from the cottage. We will definitely be staying here again!

Private, clean, accomodating and recommended

My husband and I stayed at House of Palms for almost 2 weeks and had a wonderful time. Charles and Kathy have put a lot of thought into creating a private retreat for their guests and have all the amenities needed for a welcome and comfortable stay. The cottage was very clean and the bed comfortable. Charles was quick to respond if we had any questions and offered fresh fruit from their beautifully landscaped property. We enjoyed relaxing on the lanai both when the sun was out as well as when it was raining. It was a peaceful and safe place to come back to after spending the day exploring or relaxing at a beach. It is well located for hiking the volcanoes and lava fields, relaxing at a beach and just enjoying the Big Island. I would want to stay here again if we visit the Island in the future and would recommend the House of Palms to any couple who are looking to visit Hawaii. Many thanks to Charles and Kathy for a relaxing and enjoyable stay!
