Aloha and welcome to our Rainforest Retreat! The moment you enter this truly Hawaiian home you will experience the Aloha. Our cozy two bedroom Home is on the windward side of the big island of Hawaii. Just 25 minutes south of Hilo International Airport, located in the beautiful Leilani Estates, which is considered one of the more upscale communities in the area. Our home is in a safe and friendly neighborhood, where you can walk, bike and enjoy the lush tropical rainforest setting. Excellent for a small family or perfect for a romantic getaway.

The home is surrounded by an acre of lush tropical flowers, native trees and fruit trees. You can pick avocados, pineapple, bananas, rollinia, lilikoi, soursop, papaya, Citrus
and mulberries and enjoy them when they're in season. All the comforts of home include a fully equipped kitchen with microwave, coffee maker, coffee grinder, toaster, blender, rice cooker and outdoor gas BBQ grill, plus a washer and dryer. For an added convenience, Rainforest Cottage has broadband internet, phone, a flat screen TV and DVD/CD player. The telephone allows unlimited calls anywhere in the USA, its territories and Canada. There are two bedrooms with new pillow top beds with 600 thread count cotton bed sheets and a private lanai off the master bedroom. Outdoor Shower Installed!!

Once you're good and rested, you'll want to explore all of the wonderful local amenities. Start with Pahoa town, only 5 minute from the cottage with 11 multi-national restaurants to choose from and an extremely well stocked natural foods store. There is a New Black Sand Beach at Pohoiki Park, created from the new lava flow.
All along the coast in the rural Puna district, you will discover special places to explore from parks to sheltered coves. 15 minute from the cottage is the exotic Kehana Beach where palm and ironwood trees frame a lovely crescent of black sand. Two miles in the other direction is Mackenzie State Park, with steep lava cliffs and rugged, rocky shore. Mackenzie Park also has hiking trails and accessible lava tubes for spelunking. Take another day to discover old Hawaii. Visit Kalapana Village, only 15 minutes from the cottage, plant a coconut on Hawaii's newest Black Sand Beach created by lava flows in the 90's. Don't miss FREE live local hawaiian music outdoors here every Wednesday night and enjoy the local treats at the farmers market and the food stands, featuring a variety of items including vegan and vegetarian fare. On the way there you'll pass the historical star of the sea painted church. Down the coast you may be able to see a plume of steam rising where lava is flowing in to the ocean!

Don't forget the charming town of Hilo in your itinerary. Only 25 minutes from home, discover Hilo's unique history on Bay Front at the Pacific
Tsunami Museum. Down the street you will be among friendly people as you wander throughout
the stands of Hilo Farmer Market. Sample Hawaiian food, fresh hot tamales and Filipino dessert! You can purchase fresh fish, tropical flowers, organic produce and exotic seasonal fruit to enjoy. You will find yourself in lush botanical gardens, waterfalls and the largest Japanese Garden in the USA. Enjoy snorkeling at Richardson's Beach, Hilo's own black sand beach, watch the dolphins and whales and swim with the turtles.

Take a 45 minute drive or so and you could be at the lovely Volcano, situated near the rim of the Kilauea crater on your way to viewing the lava activity in Volcano National Park (ongoing 20 plus years!) If you ever feel need to leave the Puna district, there's plenty more: Wimea Town, social center of the famous Parker Ranch, Kailua-Kona and it's shopping centre, gorgeous scenery, arts, crafts and all that is has to offer. Don't forget the waterfalls, helicopter rides, parasailing, hiking, kayaking and Hamakua come home to your own private retreat where you can rest up for your next island adventure!

Aloha, welcome to paradise!

Great Place
What a wonderful cottage. We really enjoyed our stay. Love how everything was labeled, made it so much easy to find things. It was in a good location and truly was in the Rainforest. Best part was the cat, sure did enjoy his/her company and was always meeting us. Make sure you feed and keep the water bowel clean Will stay here again.

Nice place
Loved the cottage. Plenty of room. Very clean. We got in the cottage OK, but then got locked out and we’re unable to contact the owner, or property manager at after midnight here. Finally got in, and it worked out.
