Summer Lane is an incredible waterfront property. Our home was just recently renovated with a 16 x 40 second floor deck, underneath patio and fire pit area. Take in the amazing view of the lake as you sit in our Marquis Hot Tub with LED lighting and waterfalls. You will love the view from the second floor deck and hot tub as you can see for miles. The dining area seats ten and has a gorgeous view of the lake. You can see the lake from almost every room in the house. The swimming area is ideal because we are located in one of the only no wake coves on the lake. Serve food and drinks from the cabana on the dock where there is plenty of seating in and out of the sun. There is a large floating dock for your boat, or wave runners and lots of space on our stationary dock. Enjoy exploring the lake as you cruise the shoreline in our three complementary kayaks and paddle board. At night enjoy the lakeside fire pit area to roast your marshmallows. Every detail has been taken care of, and the quality of the home, appliances, and furnishings are unmatched. The expansive kitchen is fully equipped with all new small appliances and everything you would need for that special meal. There are actually three refrigerators for your use. Enjoy the downstairs where your family can chill and watch TV or battle it out in a family tournament of foosball or air hockey. Enjoy the bar area where there is another refrigerator and sink. You will find Wi-Fi throughout the home but it is not unlimited or suitable for streaming. This home offers 5 bedrooms and three bathrooms also completely updated with new vanities and furnishings. Located off the main channel of Caddock’s Creek you are protected by the no wake cove but only a cove away from the most beautiful part of Smith Mountain Lake. The location is ideal and only a short drive to restaurants, boutiques, and grocery stores. We are one minute from enjoying the State Park Beach and attractions. Memories you make at Summer Lane will last you a lifetime!

About Nancy and Charles Barrall
My wife and I are natives of New Jersey. I work for Foley Caterpillar in northern New Jersey and my wife has been a school teacher in southern NJ for over 20 years. We have five children ranging from 17 to 27 and treasure each and every moment we get to spend together. As the children get older they get busier with their own lives, and we wanted a place we could all come together and make memories to last a lifetime.
Nancy and Charles Barrall purchased this House in 2016
Why Nancy and Charles Barrall chose Huddleston
It has always been our dream to own a home on a beautiful lake. My father rebuilt the cabin he was born in not far from Smith Mountain Lake and we have spent many summers enjoying Virginia. Nancy's father built a cabin on a lake in Maine when she was seven and we both grew up loving the outdoors and spending time with family and friends on lakes. We knew we wanted to find the perfect lake property for our family, but did not want to go north. After years of searching, we purchased our first property on the lake. We loved it so much when we saw this property with the wide water views and awesome location we could not pass it up and purchased our second home on the lake. This home has everything we had ever hoped for in a lake property. Our whole family can come and enjoy our new home for years to come. We can't wait to have grandchildren some day come and spend time at the lake. We love the no wake cove and that adds the extra protection we are going to need someday for our grandchildren. Our cove is quiet and serene, but just a short distance from all of the action on the lake. The water is crystal clear and unlike Maine much warmer! We are so excited to share our paradise with others and have gone to great lengths to make everything perfect for our guests!
What makes this House unique
What we love most about our home is the location. We don't have to worry about getting hit by a jet ski or speeding boat. The location of the dock is perfect for a sunrise view in the morning but allows our deck to be in the shade at night when we want to sit outside and relax. At night our favorite thing to do is lay in the new hot tub and look at the stars. The stars on a clear night will take your breath away. There is so much room to spread out in the home and no matter how many people are there you do not feel like you are on top of each other. All of the pillows and bedding are brand new and everything has been redone both inside and out. One of our favorite things to do is kayak and paddleboard. There are so many beautiful locations and coves on the lake to explore. We love the nature that surrounds our home, and know that you will enjoy all that this home has to offer. We really feel blessed by God that He has allowed us to own such a beautiful home, and hope that we are able to bless others as they spend time together with their family and friends here at Summer Lane.
Pool / Spa
This house is beautifully decorated and in a great peaceful area! Very relaxing and fun!
Our time on Summer Lane was delightful! Everyone in the family found something fun to do - games indoors, kayaking on the lake, relaxing by the fire pit or reading on the deck. The house is terrific! The owners have thought of everything a guest might need or want.
Thank you Anne for your kind words. We are so glad you had a great visit to our home. We try to accommodate all ages with things to do and enjoy! We are so glad you loved the house and hope that you will visit us again in the future!
Beautiful home, wonderful owners!
We had a celebration weekend of 50th birthdays with lifelong friends from September 7 - 10, 2018. The owners, Nancy and Charles, were so informative, helpful, kind and certainly put a lot of time and effort into this lovely home! They think of everything! Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend this home to anyone who will be visiting Smith Mountain Lake!
There is nothing like celebrating special occasions like 50th birthdays with lifelong friends. We are so thankful you decided to spend it in our home. You were also great to communicate with, and would love to have you any time in the future. Thank you for your kind words and recommendation, we really appreciate it!
Beautiful home, beautiful location!
What a great way to spend a week! The home was beautiful and well-suited for a family gathering with a large kitchen, large dining room table, plenty of deck space and a nice yard for "spreading out." Thanks so much for a well-appointed home and plenty of water toys. Owner was easily accessible and very quick to respond to any needs. Looking forward to returning to SML in 2019. Thanks!!
Thank you so very much for choosing our home for your vacation this week. We are so glad you had a great week. We agree it is a great place to spread out. We are glad you found everything you needed and we also appreciate the huge kitchen and dining space. We are excited to have you again next year!
Well-equipped Home with a Lovely Lakefront for Family Fun.
This home was the best-equipped of the homes that we have stayed at the past five years at Smith Mountain Lake. We especially appreciated the kayaks, paddle board and variety of floats waiting for us to use in the cabana. Seating is abundant. The owners are very responsive and are committed to making sure that visitors have an enjoyable experience at the lake.
Thank you so much Sherry! We are so glad you had a great time. We tried really hard to think of everything a guest would need, thank you for seeing that. We would love to have you back in the future!
One of our best family vacations!
We had an amazing week at Smith Mountain Lake/Summer Lane. It was truly one of our best family vacations ever! We had four generations, from our 3 year old granddaughter to our 90 year old mom, and a myriad of ages in between. Summer Lane was the perfect place for everyone. The house is wonderfully appointed, with very comfy beds, a well-equipped kitchen and magnificent views from much of the house. We enjoyed the beautiful deck, especially in the early mornings and evenings with beautiful sunrises and sunsets, the fire pit for s'mores at night (and sharing about our day), and the hot tub. The complimentary kayaks, paddle board and other water accessories enabled us to make the most of the water and outdoors. The location -- a quiet, wake-free cove -- was perfect for our young grandchildren, who spent most every day outside and in the water. We rented a boat for tubing from Parrots Cove, and they were very good to work with. We visited the D-Day Memorial one day, and the Peaks of Otter another. Nancy was terrific to work with, from the initial inquiry to scheduling our week next year when we returned! It was a week of fun, relaxation and precious family time and memories. Thank you Barrall family for sharing your beautiful home.
Thank you Patricia for taking the time to write such a wonderful review. You also were great to work with, and we are so excited you are going to return next year. It is so great to hear that all ages were able to enjoy all the amenities. We try so hard to make sure everything is there that you need or would want on a vacation. It is so nice to hear when someone is happy. Thank you again for the awesome review!
Among the lakes water activities are power boating, canoeing, sailing, parasailing, swimming, fishing water skiing, wakeboarding, and jet skiing. SML's lakefront includes six free public boat launches and more than a dozen marinas where you can find the perfect boat rental for your visit. Power boats and wave runners can be rented at several locations on the lake, including: Bridgewater Plaza Marina (Boats can also be picked up at the State Park), Parrot Cove (Parrot Cove also rents Kayaks), Parkway Marina (formerly knows as Saunders Marina), Mitchell's Point Marina or Virgil Naff Sea Doo (wave runners only). The closest boat launch and boat rental is Mitchell's Point Marina. Off water you can enjoy sightseeing that includes many spectacular views of the lakes mountainous 500-mile shoreline. Five challenging golf courses surround the lake. Smith Mountain Lake State Park includes miles of hiking trails and breathtaking views. To view the lakefront scenery and homes from the water you can cruise the Virginia Dare, a 19th century side paddlewheeler, or visit an alpacas farm on the lake. If you love fishing you are in the right place. Bassmaster rates SML among the USA's 25 best bass lakes! You must visit the SML's Dam Visitors' Center to see an awesome presentation that shows how the dam was built and what the area was like before the dam. There are three entrances near the lake to the Blue Ridge Parkway where you can visit eleven plus visitors centers and a multitude of outdoor activities. Don't forget to stop by Booker T. Washington National Monument. It allows the public to see what slavery was like and how the plantation system worked.
