About this property
Trails End - riverside | pets | hot tub | wifi | fire pit | grill
If you’ve ever said, “Let’s just find a place where we can breathe, wander, and not hear traffic,” then hey—this is it. Trails End is the kind of place that feels like it’s always been waiting for you. Tucked into five acres of peace and open space, it’s quiet, laid-back, and just a short walk to the Cacapon River. You can hear it if you listen close enough.
And the best part? You don’t have to give up a single comfort to be out here.
Just enough room—and then some
The house sleeps six, comfortably. Like, “I don’t need a chiropractor after this trip” kind of comfortably.
✅ Master bedroom with a king bed (finally—room to stretch) ✅ Second bedroom with a queen ✅ Third bedroom with two twin beds (the kids usually call dibs) ✅ Full-size sleeper sofa in the den, for extra space or last-minute tagalongs
You’ve got two bathrooms—a full bath with a tub for post-hike soaks, and a half bath for quick pit stops. It’s simple, practical, and just right for a mix of early risers and night owls.
The kind of kitchen you actually cook in
Some rentals say “full kitchen” and mean a toaster and a butter knife. Not here.
You’ll find a fully stocked kitchen with everything you need to go from pancakes to pasta without having to MacGyver it. Whether you’re meal-prepping for the weekend or just heating up leftovers from town, this kitchen’s ready.
And when it’s time to eat? Head out to the screened-in porch, or catch some sun on the deck. There’s a propane grill out there, too—ready when you are.
Where outside feels like part of the stay
Let’s be real: the yard kind of steals the show. Five acres means space for games, slow walks, or just staring at the sky without feeling boxed in.
✅ Hot tub under the stars. It hits different when the night’s quiet and cool. ✅ Campfire ring—because s’mores taste better with crackling wood and good stories. ✅ Short walk to the Cacapon River (1/10 of a mile… close enough for bare feet if you’re brave) ✅ Pet-friendly for up to 2 pups (just a heads up: $40/pet per stay)
If your dog loves to run and roll in the leaves, this might be their best trip yet. Creature comforts? Covered.
No need to rough it unless you want to. We’ve got you set up with:
✅ TV in the living room plus a DVD player (yes, those still exist—and sometimes, they’re exactly what you need) ✅ High-speed internet—fast enough for remote work or streaming ✅ Washer and dryer (especially handy for muddy socks) ✅ Window A/C and baseboard heat, because the weather’s always doing its own thing out here ✅ Private driveway + free parking
Everything’s easy. And if it’s not, we’re just a message away. Final thought? Bring your people and stay a while.
Trails End isn’t flashy. It’s not trying to be. It’s just comfortable, homey, and easy to settle into. Whether you`re fishing, hiking, hot tubbing, or simply sitting still long enough to notice how blue the sky really is—this is where that happens.
So pack a bag. Bring your people (and your pups). The river’s waiting, the stars are out, and the porch light’s on.
We’ll see you at the end of the trail. House rules 🚭 No smoking This is a non-smoking property. 🚑 Keep roads and driveways clear Please don’t block driveways, roads, or intersections. Lovely place near Berkeley springs. We had a great time. It was peaceful and relaxing, and the space was just what we needed. We were a little disappointed by the river access being not quite what the pictures showed but overall great place!

Liked: Cleanliness, property conditions & facilities, communication
We enjoyed the cabin, and location. The hot tub, and wood stove were nice. The wood stove warmed the place nicely on the cool fall nights. Berkley Springs was a nice surprise for us, we didn't expect the town to be so nice. The spring water is a must!
Other than being given the wrong code to the lockbox which delayed getting into the house for at least 30 minutes, we had a nice stay here. Warning: no cell phone reception in the area! Hot tub was appreciated.
Very clean, had everything. I just didn’t realize how many steps in the cabin but that was my fault for not looking close enough. Besides that the place was perfect
We had a great stay and would happily recommend this property. Communication with the host was excellent, and the property was very clean and well maintained. Our only minor issue was that the pictures showing access to the river were a little confusing, so we weren’t quite sure what to expect regarding river access. Aside from that, everything was excellent, and we really enjoyed our stay!

Overall very nice property. Great screened in porch, fire pit, and porch. You can get to the water but water was low so we didn't get a chance to go in. Great for a quick trip t9 get away. Nice views

The house was very nice, the master is a loft so it's open to down below for people who might need more privacy. The house was warm even without the wood stove being used and there's beautiful views all around. Very peaceful and relaxing!

Location to river is nice. Yard is large and convenient for pets. Unit needs lighting most rooms are very dark even in daytime. The property listing on vrbo and berkley springs cottage rentals...is WRONG!!! There is no dishwasher in this unit!!! Very disappointing since I even emailed and asked the property managers about the dishwasher.

Hi Gregory,
We are incredibly sorry about the dishwasher. I imagine that the representative that you were in touch with only had access to the website for their information about the property. We'll be looking into getting that information updated to properyl reflect the cabin on our website.
This is a very quaint place. Very remote setting and perfect for walks around the property with dogs. Our older dog loved sitting under the covered patio relaxing. The younger one went swimming a few times and had a blast.

Thank you Tammy for staying with us at Trail's End River Retreat. We are so glad that your family and dog enjoyed the property and had a good time. We hope you will return to visit us again.
Overall, this was the best weekend get away possible. We went down Valentines day weekend, and I was planning my proposal to my girlfriend, now Fiance. I spoke with Donna at the cabin rental for recommendations on restaurants and every single place was amazingly perfect.
Cool Font, Canary Grill, Lot 12, Angus and Ale, and Country Inn.
The cabin itself was in great shape, heat all worked great, the screened in porch was beautiful to sit on, the hot tub worked perfect (which was a requirement for this trip haha)
The only somewhat not perfect thing about this cabin was the abundance of lady bugs in the master loft. No more than 5 at a sight, but there must be a bad seal on one of those 2 windows. The seats within the loft had an amazing view out of the cabin looking out towards the river front.
I was hoping to use the garage, but we had great weather so that was not a big deal at all. Some of the signage implied that most likely, the garage could be utilized during the summer months. I believe that's where they hold the tubes and watersports goods.
Overall I would highly recommend this cabin for all who venture near Berkeley Springs and/or Cacapon State Park (amazing park and hiking trails)
Great cabin and thanks for the great stay!
Property was clean and easy to find. Nice location to the river. Very quiet neighborhood. Would love to come back!

Perfect for a weekend trip away from home!
It was clean and tidy with all of the amenities you would want for a relaxing and/or adventurous weekend in the mountains! It was perfect for the dog and offered a spacious property in distant proximity to neighboring retreats. There is a short trail on the property that leads to the peaceful river bank. It is a short walk to a public river access which would be good for swimming in the summer months. We loved hiking in Cacapon State Park (about 20 minutes away) and returning to relax in the hot tub! The retreat is serene and secluded, but a short drive into town for any last minute items or a bite to eat. The house is set up very nice and includes a kitchen with a variety of cooking necessities as well as linens and toiletries; there is a washer and dryer in the basement. Overall, we had a great experience and will definitely consider staying here in the future especially for the price! The only downfall of this place is the smelly water; you will notice the pungent odor of sulphur as soon as you walk in. Although you get somewhat used to it after a while, we ended up buying air fresheners for the bathrooms to help combat the smell. All in all, I would recommend this retreat home!
Response from VrboOwner on Mar 30, 2020
Hi Kristen,
Thank you for the reservation, we wished you would have called us regarding the water, there is a water system at the the cabin, that fixes the problem. We would have sent maintenance immediately. We agree that the location, river, and space in the cabin makes it a wonderful vacation spot. Thank you for your review, you are welcome back with your family and friends anytime.
