About Claudio Meira

We are married and live in the D.C area. We love for you to be guests at our cabins.

Claudio Meira purchased this cabin in 2006

Why Claudio Meira chose Berkeley Springs

On our first visit to Berkeley Springs, we were drawn to the character and charm that the town offers, and we soon found ourselves in the office of a local realtor ready to make an offer on a cabin near Cacapon State Park. The cabin had “good bones” but had been neglected by the previous owners. We spent the next year renovating “Retriever’s Retreat” (https://www.vrbo.com/130256) and making it into our haven from our hectic schedules and pace of life in DC. Soon thereafter, we found another home in need of some TLC, and we quickly began work on “Jack Russell’s Ridge.” (https://www.vrbo.com/138293). As pet lovers, we are pleased to be able to share our pet-friendly homes with your family, and we hope that your time in Berkeley Springs offers you a chance to enjoy the company of family and good friends.

What makes this cabin unique

We aim to provide guests with a clean, tranquil, and modern getaway home. This is a beautiful three-story log cabin with superb amenities. Sleep in our plush beds; enjoy satellite TV on a flat-screen television with surround sound; toast s'mores over the campfire; prepare a gourmet meal using our modern kitchen with new stainless-steel appliances; enjoy the quiet surroundings and wake up to the peaceful sounds of nature. Our cabin is pet-friendly, and we have a perfect backyard for dogs to run and play. The log cabin is very close (within 2 miles) of Cacapon State Park. A 6,000 acre park where there an incredible amount of activities to do like: tennis, basketball, lake beach, fishing, hiking trails, 18 round golf course, horseback riding, overlooks and much more. The cabin is within 10 miles from downtown Berkeley Springs.

Based on feedback from previous guests, we have added Roku boxes on all TVs (which stream the latest 10,000 movies and TV shows via Netflix and Hulu Plus) and upgraded the main TV to a 55 inch LED HDTV with 120+ Dish HD network channels. Should you go to Berkeley Springs, we hope that you choose to stay with us.

Lovely cottage

  • 5 of 5

Enjoyed this clean, well appointed cabin for a long weekend away with friends. Very close to Cacapon State park and about 10 miles from Berkeley Springs where we enjoyed shopping, dining and spas. Great television selection to watch movies and cabin had everything needed for an easy, comfortable stay. Definitely recommend this to others.

Worth the price

  • 4 of 5

Amenities were great! Washer dryer, full kitchen, 3 rooms for a decent price.

Really the only downside was the ton of stairs and elevation changes. Yard is on a decline but it wasnt too bad.

I dont think I can accurately rate this place because we had a 2 month old with us and it was just tough.

Very Nice

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our time at the cabin. We were hoping for a bit more fall colors but that wasn't to be. Loved the hiking. The cabin was clean and well-equipped. The deck was great for sitting outdoors. My only suggestion: In the fall with the leaves coming down, some got into the cabin. A broom or vacuum would have been nice to have around. Also, a screen for the sliding door would be appreciated. All and all, we would return.

Difficult to take a walk, unfriendly neighbors, unknown property boundries.

  • 3 of 5

Cabin was very nice but housekeeping could have been better. Internet instructions were incorrect. Were not warned of poor cell service. Broken chairs at campfire. It worked for what we wanted and we are a family that accepts what is available and makes the best of it. We were comfortable but have had better experiences with other VRBO properties.

Owner's Response: Thank you for the feedback. The previous guest reset the modem which reset the credentials back to the default password. We communicated this to Patricia about the updated WiFI information via email/text and they confirmed that it worked for them. This is the first that I hear about our unfriendly neighbors. Patricia did mentioned to me that she walked down the street into a neighbor’s property within the community which led to the neighbor talking to her. As for the broken campfire chairs, we usually have 5 to 7 chairs and will get broken campfire chairs from time to time.

Peaceful relaxing week

  • 5 of 5

This cabin is lovely! I stayed a week by myself but by daughter joined me for the weekend. Everything you could possibly want is provided including coffee! That's a big deal for me! The beds, sheets, pillows and all furniture is heavenly. The deck is beautiful. Loved watching the baby deer triplets that would come to munch on leaves every evening. The driveway is a bit tricky if you have more than one vehicle. Not a problem tho. The town of Berkeley springs was so much fun! Gotta give a shout out to the new cat cafe' "give purrs a chance". We had a blast playing with the cats. Splashing around in the park springs was so refreshing! A quirky fun small town with so much to offer. The only thing that might be negative about the cabin is that the air conditioners need updating or at least a good cleaning. They worked ok but pretty dirty. It was a hot week and I stayed comfortable but they could use some attention. I definitely will return. Thank you for sharing your beautiful cabin with others...
