About the property

Chateau / Country House, 5 Bedrooms, 3 Baths, (Sleeps 10)

'Les Plaines'. A beautifully decorated and spacious country family home ideally situated on the outskirts of the medieval village of Murs (500 metres altitude) with breathtaking views and a fabulous secluded Heated Pool. Only eight kilometers from the famous perched village of Gordes and 30 kilometers from Sault 'lavender country' in the heart of the Luberon National Park.

The South facing terrace dominates the valley with an unique view over the Grand and Petit Luberon Hills as well as the Falaise de Lioux and the red ochre hills of Roussillon. This incredible view will allow you many memorable relaxing moments especially as the sun sets in the evening. This property is a haven of peace for those who wish to relax, paint, read or go for long walks through the beautiful unspoilt countryside (in particular around the Moulins de la Véroncle). A 5 minute stroll into the village to admire the view on the other side of the valley and buy fresh bread and croissants for breakfast

A mere hour drive away and you can visit: the Palais des Papes, le Pont d'Avignon or be fascinated by the festival of Avignon in July with its clowns and actors. Explore the Port of Marseille and its calanques, go horseriding in the Camargue and admire the bulls and pink flamingos.

The famous perched villages of Gordes, Roussillon 'the red ochre', Lacoste and the Marquis de Sade's Chateau, Bonnieux and Oppede le Vieux are all nearby and St Remy and Les Baux are within 30 minutes drive. The fountain of Vaucluse and its seven sorgues and the Abbaye de Senanque are within 10 minutes' drive and Le Mont Ventoux (1912 metres altitude) is within 45 minutes' drive.

Every day of the week there is a provencal market to visit where one can taste the olives and buy fresh fruit and vegetables. Not forgetting the excellent restaurants and local wine cellars, in an afternoon you can sample wines varying from Gigondas, Chateauneuf de Pape and Vacqueras to Cotes de Ventoux and Provence.

This light and airy 250 square-meter property, recently renovated and tastefully decorated, a mixture of antique and modern styles, is situated in 7000 square-meters of woodland and large stone terraces. The main south facing terrace is accessible from the lounge, dining room and two bedrooms by double French doors. Have lunch or dinner under the shady tonnelle on the large teak table whilst contemplating the view.

Stone steps lead to a lower terrace cut in the rock where the protected and secluded ten-by-five-meter heated swimming pool is nestled. The swimming pool has a salt water system and the surrounds are equipped with sun loungers, parasols and another shady tonnelle.

Step out from the fully equipped kitchen into a pretty flowered shady kitchen garden for breakfast or coffee or simply relax in the 60 square-meter sunny, comfortable lounge with its high ceilings by the impressive old stone fireplace near the television and library corner.

The fully equipped modern kitchen has a six-burner cook-top and oven with rotisserie, microwave, dishwasher, fridge and freezer. There are numerous pretty dishes, pots and pans and glass ware to use. There is a washing machine and dryer next to the kitchen.

The adjacent sunny dining room area has a long dining table and chairs to seat 10 persons. Two French doors open out onto the southern terrace and view.

The master bedroom has French doors and windows opening out onto the terrace there is a queen size bed, armoire and little armchairs and an ensuite bathroom with bath, shower, double basins and WC.

Further along you will find a twin-bedded (90-centimeter) room suitable for children and a light airy queen-bedded room with access, via French doors, to the terrace. Adjacent to these bedrooms is a second bathroom with double basins, bath and shower and water closet.

On the northern side of the house there are two very pretty twin-bedded (90-centimeter) rooms, between these rooms is a third bathroom with bath, shower, water closet and hand basins. All the bedrooms have cupboards, bedside tables and lamps. There is also a separate water closet.

There is also a wifi installation for those who still like to keep in contact with the rest of the world even on holiday.

Guestbook comments from the manager

Thank you for suggesting Les Plaines to us. The home worked very well for us. We especially loved the views, which are truly panoramic, and the living room allowed us to be together yet each do what suites us at the time.

Thank you also for the countless emails and answers to my questions as we made all this happen. ‎We shall no doubt be in touch again.

Best wishes,

Ron

Outstanding view!

My husband and I spent two weeks at Les Plaines and had a wonderful vacation there. Beverly was away but her lovely daughter, Suzanne, settled us in. A car is a necessity as there is nothing within walking distance but then you are able to enjoy all the beautiful towns that are in close proximity. The pool was the perfect temperature even on cooler days.

Each night we had drinks on the terrace and watched the town of Roussillon turn a brilliant gold as the sun set on the ochre hills. It was a memorable vacation. Kate B

Merveilleux!

  • 5 of 5

We spent a wonderful week at Les Plaines in early July 2016 and loved every minute of it. The neighborhood was a haven of peace and quiet where we heard only birdsong and the chirping of crickets. The villa was comfortable and attractively furnished in Provencal style, with a well-equipped kitchen. On two evenings we enjoyed the services of cooks that Beverly arranged. Although the weather was in the 90s (Fahrenheit), the villa stayed comfortable even in the middle of the day because of its thick stone walls, so the absense of air-conditioning was not a problem. The pool temperature was in the low 80s so we enjoyed swimming; the pool heating didn't seem to be on in July, but we didn't need it because the pool was heated sufficiently by the sun. It felt very luxurious to have a breakfast terrace AND a dinner terrace AND a sitting terrace AND a pool terrace. The thing we enjoyed the most was the fabulous, expansive view over the Luberon, which was why we chose this villa in the first place. Les Plaines has to have one of the best views in Provence. We ate most of our dinners at the villa because the view was better than at any restaurant. After dinner, as it got dark, we sat on the sitting terrace and watched the stars come out and the lights come on in the hill towns. We felt that Les Plaines was an excellent value and that it exceeded our expectations. We would definitely return.

Fantastic!!!!

  • 5 of 5

This lovely home in Les Plaines was absolutely wonderful. The view of the Luberon valley is breathtaking. We would often sit in the early morning watching the sun rise and of course enjoyed the afternoon view sipping our wine. We were a group of 4 adults and 4 teenagers. The pool was a hit and a very nice oasis from the afternoon sun. We loved the ability to walk to the town of Murs. The Sunday night pizza truck was a hit! We will be back hopefully sooner than later!!!!

We stayed in the house for a week and had a wonderful time.

The house is very clean, and very well-equipped. It allows privacy and relaxation, with a breathtaking view.

the house is situated near gordes and we could visit a lot of charming small towns around.

the pool is warmed and we were able to enjoy it.

Beverly was always available for us, and we woud love to visit again.

Excellent villa in the Luberon region

  • 5 of 5

Our family of six (three adults, three college students) enjoyed a lovely week in this comfortable, tastefully decorated house with its superb views of the Luberon hills. The house itself is functionally designed, with a well-equipped kitchen, three nicely renovated full bathrooms (with wall-mounted showers), and five bedrooms spread across two wings for privacy. Views from the patio and pool are outstanding, and the setting is remarkably tranquil. We spent most of our free time enjoying these outdoor spaces. A very pleasant place to stay, and nicer than the photos on the website manage to convey. Definitely recommended.

Outstanding experience! Maison Superbe!

  • 5 of 5

Les Plaines is the perfect place to bring your family for a most wonderful vacation.

The house is situated close to Murs and not far from Gordes, one of the most beautiful villages in Luberon. We loved every minute of our stay and appreciated all of Beverly's help, who was very gracious and available at anytime. The house is spacious and very clean, decorated with excellent taste. The view is breathtaking and the pool was so appreciated by all of us.

We are planning to come back very soon .
