About Carole Friel

This is home. The property has been in the family since the early 1900's. My husband's great grandfather and two sons built the front house in 1908. The cottage was built by our grandfather's youngest son in the 1953. He lived there until 2005, when he was 88. He vacationed in Ireland every year until he was 86.

Carole Friel purchased this cottage in 1900

Wonderful Cottage - We highly recommend it!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I just spent our Thanksgiving holiday at this cozy cottage. It felt like home. My husband commented he wished he could live there year round! It was perfect for the two of us and our 3 small dogs. Even the dogs felt particularly comfortable in this warm, inviting space. It is well taken care of, clean and well maintained, with lots of interesting knick-knacks and books to peruse. The workmanship of the structure itself is very impressive! I love the stain glass windows:) Lots of love went into this space. The kitchen is easy to navigate and hang out in. The fenced in yard is great. The bedrooms are comfortable. The heat worked fine - too well at times;) The bathroom is very small but we were not expecting anything different (the shower could be a problem for a very tall person). Overall, it was a great place to be and very convenient to visit my elderly parents to and from. It is also a perfect writer's cottage. We are planning on returning twice next year. It is our new go-to spot near the Jersey shore.

Amazing stay!

  • 5 of 5

We absolutely loved our stay at Carole's cottage. Carole was more than accommodating and answered all of my questions leading up to our stay. The house was adorable and was equipped with everything we could have possibly needed. I would absolutely recommend the cottage to anyone and hope to stay there again in the future!

Perfect location!

  • 5 of 5

The cottage was the perfect location for my month long stay. Carole was very accommodating when I had an emergency and needed to extend my stay. She communicated quickly to answer any and all of my questions. I wanted to book the cottage for September but it is already reserved through November. The cable and wi-fi are excellent, too!

Stayed one month at the cottage and it was great. Carole was so easy to deal with and our stay was comfortable and pleasant. I would recommend it as a vacation or just a short get away.

Cute, quaint, quiet and fun!

  • 4 of 5

We went back to our home state of NJ to help elderly parents. We rented the "Irish Cottage" which is close to the parents house. The cottage sits back off the road and has a quaint front and back yard which would be lovely in the summer or fall. We went in January so it was too cold to utilize. The owners are easy to work with supportive and quick to respond. We did not have any issues while staying there except that it was bitter cold and windy outside and we were a bit cold inside despite having the thermostat set to 72 degrees. It's a older cottage and probably doesn't have great insulation, however there is a working fireplace that could be used. To be fair, I did not let the owner know we were cold. The temp outside was in the teens with high winds and the cottage has multiple sky lights and many windows and probably older insulation. We LOVED staying in the cottage and would rent it again, it's convenient to the center of town and restaurants and a short drive to the beach. We loved all the quaint fisherman and beach decorations. We kept discovering new things in the cottage which generated conversations! There were games, books and cable with HD TV..

Thank you for the rental and for the ease in working with Carol!! Would like to go back in the fall or spring!
